Objective To observe the role of baicalin on the expression of phosphorylated protein of signal transduc-ers and activators of transcription signaling proteins (STATs) during the process that neural stem cells (NSCs) differentiating into neurons. Methods NSCs were isolated from the embryonic cerebral cortex of the 14-15-day pregnant SD rats, which were cultured and passaged in vitro. The 3rd generation of NSCs was used in the experiment. NSCs were randomized into nat-ural differentiation control group, three different doses of baicalin groups (7.5μmol/L, 15μmol/L and 30μmol/L), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF)+basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) group and baicalin+LIF+bFGF group. After 6 d culture in vi-tro, the immunohistochemical method was used to observe the expressions of microtubule-associated protein 2(MAP-2) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in different groups. The expression levels of phosphorylation protein of STAT 3 in NSCs were detected by Western blotting method after 2 h and 6 d of culture. Results The expression of MAP-2 in NSCs was in-creased by baicalin, but the expression of GFAP in NSCs decreased. The expression of GFAP in NSCs was enhanced in LIF+bFGF group, which was inhibited by baicalin+LIF+bFGF. The phosphorylation level of STAT3 in NSCs was downregulat-ed by baicalin, but the phosphorylation level of STAT3 was upregulated in LIF+bFGF group. The upregulated phosphoryla-tion level of STAT3 was inhibited in baicalin+LIF+bFGF group(P＜0.05). Conclusion Baicalin can induce NSCs to dif-ferentiate into neurons, which may be caused by the downregulation of the phosphorylation level of STAT3 in NSCs.

Objective To evaluate the effects and toxicities of the hyperthermic peritoneal peffusion with oxaliplatin (L-OHP) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) combined with chemotherapy for treatment malignant asci-tes. Methods 42 patients with malignant aacites from assimilation system tumor were catheterized,drained and flushed with L-OHP 85 mg/m2 in 2 000 ～2 500 ml of 5 % glucose and IL-2(2 MU),NRL-001 Double RF tumor hyperthermia system was applied to heat the abdominal part for 60 ～ 120 minutes at an intraperitoneal temperature of 41 -43 ℃ ,next day,all the patients were treated with calcium folinate(CF)0. 2 g/m2 by 2 hours intravenous infusion,5-fluorouracil (5-FU) 0. 4 g/m2 intravenously, followed by 46 hours continuous infusion of 5-FU (1 600 mg/m2), 2 weeks a cycle. Results The overall response rate was 66. 67%, including CR : 6 cases, PR:22 cases, NC:6 cases, and PD:8 cases. MST is 5.6 months. The main toxicity was impatient abdomen ache,paralysis intestinal obstruction. Conclusion Hyperthermic peritoneal perfusion with oxaliplatin and inter-leukin-2 combined with chemotherapy is efficient and safe in the treatment malignant ascites and can improve the quality of life. It is worthing wildly using and research.

Objective To investigate the most appropriate surgical methods,different surgical modes of osmidrosis and their clinical effi-cacy were observed. Methods Clinical data was collected from 200 cases of axillary osmidrosis from January 2011 to July 2013. These cases were divided into four groups of the traditional group,minimally invasive group,RF pen-frequency electric cautery group and improved curet-tage group. Results The traditional group(80 cases) has an average healing period of 18. 7 days for operative incision including 78 cured cases(97. 5%)and 2 significant improved cases(2. 5%). The minimally invasive group(60 cases)has an average healing time of 8. 6 days, among which there are 3 cured cases(5%),8 significant improved cases(13. 3%),16 improved cases(26. 7%),4 cases(6. 7%)with weak curative effect and 29 failed cases(48. 3%). In the RF pen-frequency electric cautery group(30 cases),there are 5 significant improved ca-ses(16.7%),8improvedcases(26.7%)and17failedcases(56.6%).Theimprovedcurettagegroup(30cases)withanaverageincision healingtimeof9.8dayscontains28curedcases(93.3%)and2significantimprovedcases(6.7%). Conclusion Thetraditionalgroup shows the best curative effect,nevertheless the incision needs a considerably amount of time to recover. The patients under the treatment of minimally invasive surgery or RF pen-frequency electric cautery can recover in short time but recrudescence always occur. The improved cu-rettage method,which is effective and safe,combines the advantages of traditional surgery and minimally invasive surgery. However,large scar left from this method still remains as its major disadvantage but the overall curative effect is satisfactory. The improved curettage is proved to be the most appropriate method for axillary osmidrosis.

Objective:To prepare dendritic cell (DC)-cytokine induced killer (CIK) tumor vaccine using DCs of patients with nonsmall-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring autologous tumor antigens and to observe its inhibitory effect on autologous tumor cells in vitro. Methods: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) extracted from NSCLC patients were cultured into DCs and CIKs in presence of different cytokines. Cancer cells from the patients were cultured in vitro and were used to prepare different tumor antigens: tumor cell lysates, necrotic tumor cells and normally-grown tumor cells. The DCs were stimulated by OK-432 and the phenotypes of the DCs were analyzed by flow cytometer. Then the DCs were co-cultured with CIKs. The anti-tumor effect of DC-CIK was evaluated by MTT assay. Endophytic fungi were isolated from Macleaya cordata growing in Dabie Mountain by agar-block method, and then the endophytic fungi were grouped into different types based on their morphological characteristics, and thin layer chromatography (TLC) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) were employed to determine whether the metabolic substances contained sanguinarine or not, and then preliminarily identified by morphological method. The results showed that the leaves hosted the largest number of endophytes (96 isolates) followed by the stems (57 isolates) and finally the roots (28 isolates), respectively. Based on morphological characteristics the endophytic fungi were grouped into 26 types in our study. TLC and HPLC results showed that there was sanguinarine in the metabolic substances of BLH 51 strain. According to the morphological characteristic, the BLH 51 strain was identified as Fusarium proliferatum. All these indicated that the medicinal plant M. cordata harbors abundant endophytes, which could be a new source for the search of active secondary metabolites.

Objective To evaluate the causation and management of complications caused by enteral nutrition (EN)after stomach cancer surgery.Methods The clinical data of 195 gastric cancer patients which used EN after surgery were analyzed retrospectively from September 2002 to April 2008 in our hospital.Results Among the 195 patients,29(14.87%)developed abdominal distention,17(8.71%)diarrhoea,Six(3.07%)metabolic complica tions,three anastomotie leakage,1 patient with colon perforation.Conclusion These complications caused by EN after stomach cancer surgery associated with the stress of surgery,the speed and concentration of nutrition infusion, patients'metabolic conditions and other related factors.

OBJECTIVETo investigate and clarify the key surgical techniques and evaluate clinical effectiveness of modular cementless femoral stems(LINK MP modular stem) in complex revision hip arthroplasty.

METHODSFrom January 2002 to December 2013, 470 patients in Chinese PLA General Hospital received revision hip arthroplasties using MP stems. Among them, 246 patients were followed for an average of 5.7 years (ranged, 0.5 to 11 years). There were 148 males and 98 females, with an average age of 62.5 years old (ranged from 26 to 83 years old). The most common reason for revision was aseptic loosening of femoral stems (107 cases, 43.5%), followed by prosthetic joint infection (104 cases, 42.3%). Other reasons included unexplained hip or thigh pain, periprosthetic femoral fracture, prosthesis wear and dislocation. According to Paprosky classification of femoral deficiency, there were 171 cases of type IIIA (69.5%), 14 cases of type I, 39 cases of type II, and 22 cases of type IIIB. The average preoperative Harris hip score (HHS) was 37.4 ± 7.5. In addition, radiographic presentation, degree of patients' subjective satisfaction, and clinical effectiveness were assessed as well.

RESULTSThe average Harris score was im- proved to 87.8 ± 4.2 after operation,with significant statistical difference when compared to preoperative score (t = 92.13,P = 0.00). Analysis of patients' subjective satisfaction for leg length discrepancy, stability and overall degree of satisfaction showed that the number of patients with great satisfaction were 27, 60, 61 respectively. The most common complication was the periprosthetic fracture (intraoperatively 21 cases and postoperatively 8 cases). Other complications included infection (7 cases), dislocation (5 cases), numbness possibly caused by incomplete sciatic nerve injury (6 cases) and thigh swelling (3 cases). The X-ray taken at the final follow-up revealed that prosthesis subsidence occurred in 4 cases, 2 of which needed a second revision.

CONCLUSIONThe application of modular cementless femoral stems (LINK MP modular stem) in complex revision hip arthroplasty (especially in cases with the serious defect of proximal femoral bone) shows good results at both the short-term and long-term follow-up, especially in the revision for prosthetic infection with the high success rate. In order to avoid complications and improve clinical outcomes,the surgeons should carefully select proper surgery candidates,perform the procedure with care, and master the key surgical techniques.
