microRNA (miRNA) are about 22 nucleotide (nt) endogenous small non-coding RNA that play an important role in regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. miRNA control the expression of genes involved in several biologic processes, including apoptosis, proliferation, differentiation and metabolism of cells. miRNA can also act as oncogenes or antioncogenes. Abnormal expression of miRNA is associated with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and contributes to the pathogenesis, disease progression, and response to therapy of CML. They may also serve as the potential therapy targets in the disease. In this review, the most important findings about the biogenesis pathway and function of miRNA as well as the role of miRNA in the pathogenesis, drug-resistance and therapy of CML are discussed.

Objective To discuss the strategy and intervention measures of the iodine deficiency disorders (IDD)control in coastal salt.producing areas so as to shoot the problem of non-iodized salt causing IDD.Methods Accordinng to different areas,periods and crowds,eomplicatd measures and strategies were taken such as supply of iodized salt to peopie in special need while universalizaion of iodized salt,health promotion,private salt factory censu8 and close.iodized salt quality monitoring and promotion of technology of iodized salt producion in Xiamen, where the probiem of non-iodized salt Was serious since 1995.Results Iodized salt manufactured Was qualified in a increased rate from 89.50% in 1995 to 96.17% in 1997,stablized at 99.00%since 2000.Qualified iodized salt sold in the shops waft increased from 87.33%in 1996 to 96.33%in 1998.Popularization covered by iodized salt in urban areas increaased from 0.92%in 1 995 to 100.00%in 2000,and it Was increased from 0 to 99.00%in suburban area8 and increased from 0 to 89.00%in rural areas.Since 2001 iodized salt covered up 93.00%of the people.The rate of child goitre in urban,suburban and rural areas respectively Wag 16.44%(228/1387), 20.57%(266/1293) and 24.93%(651/2611).Moreover,beginning from 1996,it reduced tO below of 5.00%respectively in 1999,2001 and 2005.The median of urinary iodine of children in urban,suburban and rural areas respectively was 137.50, 102.12,94.66 μg/L in 1995,since 1997 it reached 100.00μg/L and kept at 120.00μg/L In 2007 the median of urinarv iedine of children respectively was 271.10,240.40,198.10μg/L in urban,suburban and rural areas.The pereentage of awareness of IDD knowledge was 74.00%(444/600)in students in 1997 and reached 95.00% since 2000.Conclusion The paRern of eliminating iodine deficiency dis ease in Xiamen has successful established,which works efficiently and sets an example for iodized salt supplement in non-iodized salt areas and continually eliminating the iodine deficiency disease.

Objective To explore the method of clinical application and the final result of the com- pound flap of distally based of saphenous nerve-great saphenous vein nutritional vessels.Methods Basing on the anatomic basis that the nutrient vessels of saphenous nerve-great saphenous vein have the same deriva- tion as the branches of the muscle,bone and skin.Eight cases of the tissue defects of ankles and feet were re- paired by the flap.Results Seven cases were survived completely except the distal partly necrosis in one case.The calcaneal defects of one case were repaired by the iliac graft after two weeks of the operation.Follow up from 3 monthes to one year,the texture,appearance and function of the multiflap were good.Conclusion The compound flap of distally based of saphenous nerve-great saphenous vein nutritional vessels has the ad- vantages as follow:the reliable blood supply,avoidance of sacrificing the major arteries,reconstruction of sen- sation and simply procedure.Besides,the defects of soft tissue and bone can be repaired on one operation.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of Rhaponticum uniforum polysaccharide on immune function in normal mice and the underlying mechanism.

METHODSRBC and ovalbumin were employed as antigens to be injected to mice, respectively. Three doses of R. uniforum polysaccharide (50, 100, 200 mg x kg(-1) x d(-1)) were given orally for seven days. After the secondary immunization, the level of corresponding antibody and the concentration of serum IL-2, IFN-gamma were determined.

RESULTThe levels of antibodies (anti-SRBC and anti-ovalbumin) and cytokines (IL-2 and IFN-gamma) in median dose group of R. uniforum polysaccharide were all significantly higher than those in control groups (P <0.05).

CONCLUSIONR. uniforum polysaccharide could enhance the immune function in normal mice.

To study the effects of short-term cryopreservation of cord blood hematopoietic cells in liquid nitrogen, the viability and function of cord blood hematopoietic cells were investigated by using each of 8 samples cryopreserved for six months, one and two years after thawing respectively. Nucleated cells (NC) were detected by blood cell analyzer. CD34+ cells were analyzed by flow cytometry, CFU-GM were cultured and detected in vitro, the survival rate was determined by trypan blue staining. The results showed that the differences of recovery rate of NC, CD34+, CFU-GM were nonsignificant at three different cryopreserved times. In conclusion, the short-term storage in liquid nitrogen showed a good effect on cord blood hematopoietic cell without any significant change of activities and number of the cryopreserved hematopoietic cells.

The study was aimed to establish a standard procedure for human umbilical cord blood bank. The hematopoietic nucleated cells in cord blood were processed by using sedimentation and centrifugation method. After finishing CD34(+) cell counting, hematopoietic progenitor cell assay, microbial culture, infectious disease test and HLA typing, cord blood units were stored in the liquid nitrogen for further application. The results showed that nucleated cells of cord blood were (10.94 +/- 2.74) x 10(8) per unit; recovery rate of nucleated cells was (79.82 +/- 17.76)%. CD34(+) cells in cord blood were counted as (51.62 +/- 30.53) x 10(5) per unit. Eight units of cord blood were thawed after two years of cryopreservation, the recovery rate of nucleated cells, CD34(+) cells and CFU-GM were (91.4 +/- 6.0)%, (84.6 +/- 20.0)% and (85.8 +/- 14.9)% respectively. It is suggested that the methods and procedure reported for processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells in the human umbilical cord blood is effective.

Objective To find out severity and types of syphilis infection in blood donors, attendants and persons to have their premrital medical examination in Zhoushan City and offer a new measure for prevention and treatment of syphilis. Methods Totally, 174 589 blood donors, attendants and persons to have their premarital medical examinations were screened preliminarily for inapparent syphilis with non-TPHA, and then TPHA was applied to confirm the diagnosis, according to the National Standard No. GB 15974-1995, combining with clinical symptoms and physical check-up. Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of applying sirolimus-eluting stents in emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for the patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).Methods In total,220 patients with AMI were enrolled in this study at Shanghai Tongji Hospital, divided into two groups,one with bare-metal stent and the other with sirolimus-eluting stent.Cardiovascular fatality,major adverse cardiac events (MACE) and target vessel revascularization (TVR) were observed one and six months after PCI in the two groups.Results There was no significant difference in overall fatality and MACE in the 1~(st) or 6~(th) months after PCI between the two groups.Three cardiogenic deaths occurred in bare-metal stent group with a fatality of 2.8 percent,and five deaths in sirolimus-eluting stent group with a fatality of 4.5 percent in six months after PCI.However,rate of restenosis in those with sirolimus-eluting stents was significantly lower than that of bare-metal stents (6.0 percent vs 16.1 percent,P

Objective To observe the effect of limited laminectomy combined with foraminal stenosis decompression on preventing C5nerve root palsy and improving neurological function. Methods From March,2014 to May,2016,69 patients with multi-segment cervical spondylotic myelopathy underwent surgical treatment in our hospital were included.Thirty-eight patients(group A)were treated with limited lami-nectomy combined with foraminal stenosis decompression and internal fixation,and 31 patients(group B)under-went routine laminectomy and internal fixation.The postoperative neurological recovery rate,cervical curvature index(CCI)and C5palsy rate were recorded and analyzed. Results No spinal cord and nerve injury occurred during the operation.The width of laminectomy was(16.8±2.1)mm in group A,and was significantly less than(21.7±2.5)mm in group B(t=8.849,P<0.001).There was no significant difference in operation time and intraoperative blood loss between two groups(t<0.439,P>0.05).The Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score increased continuously after surgery in both groups (F>42.996, P<0.05), and no significant difference was found between them at each time point(t<1.021,P>0.05).The cervical curva-ture index improved after surgery(F>86.379,P<0.05),and no significant difference was found between them at each time point(t<0.943,P>0.05).The spinal cord drift distance was(3.6±0.7)mm in group A,and ws signifi-cantly shorter than(2.5±0.5)mm in group B(t=7.602,P<0.001).There was no significantly difference in the neu-rological recovery rate between two groups(t=0.724,P=0.471).The C5palsy rate was lower in group A(5.2%,2/38)than in group B(22.5%,7/31)(χ2=4.514,P=0.034). Conclusion Limited laminectomy combined with foraminal stenosis decompression could relieve the spinal cord com-pression and restrict the excessive back drift, promote the neurological function recovery and reduce the inci-dence of C5palsy.
