3.Bone Mineral Density in Epileptic Children Who Received Long-term Anticonvulsant Drugs.
Journal of the Korean Child Neurology Society 1997;5(1):52-58
OBJECTIVE : Bone mineral density is influenced by genetic, hormonal and exogenous factor that adversely affect peak mineral density include cigarette smoking, physical disability, poor calcium intake and certain medication include steroid and anticonvulsant drugs. We studied epileptic children receiving 6months above, to document change of bone mineral density by anticonvulsant drugs. METHODS: From July 1, 1996 to September 1, 1996 lumbar bone mineral density was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry in 27 children treated with anticonvulsant drugs 6months above (age ranged : 4-13 year) in Soonchunghyang University hospital. The subjects were classified into 3 groups : treated with carbamazepine alone, valproate alone and combined group. RESULTS: 1) Mean age of carbamazepine group was 10.2+/-2.42yrs(6-l4yr), duration of therapy was 22.1+/-13.9 months(6-44 months), mean value of bone mineral densities were 0.668+/-0.128g/cm2(0.548-0.927). Though it was lower than control group in 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 year, had not statistical significance. 2) Mean age of valproate group was 9.8+/-2.92yrs(6-l3yr), duration of therapy was 40.5 +/-22.2months(17-79month), mean value of bone mineral densities were 0.618+/-0.097g/cm2(0.516-0.788). Though it was lower than control group in 7, 10, 13 year, had not statistical significance. 3) Mean age of combined group was 7.9+/-3.2yrs(4-l4yr), duration of therapy was 37.5 +/-24.7months(12-88month), mean value of bone mineral densities were 0.602+/-0.109 g/cm2(0.552-0.807). Though it was lower than control group in 7, 8, 10 year, had not statistical significance. CONCLUSION: Because growing children is more sensitive than adult, in case of receiving long-term anticonvulsant therapy, it is important that early detection and prevention of abnormal bone mineralization by appropriate monitoring.

5.Reliability and Validity of the Korean Version of the Copenhagen Psyco-social Questionnaire Scale.
Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2013;22(1):1-12
PURPOSE: This study aims to test the validity and criteria-related reliability of the Korean version of the Copenhagen Psyco-social Questionnaire version II (COPSOQ-K) assessing the psychosocial working environment. METHODS: The COPSOQ-K was developed through forward-backward translation techniques, and revision based on feedback from focus groups. Survey data were collected from 311 office workers who worked in one workplace. An internal consistency reliability was estimated by Cronbach's alpha. The impacts of the COPSOQ-K scales on job satisfaction, self-rated health, stress, sleeping troubles, burnout, and sickness absence were analyzed with multiple regression model or multiple logistic regression model, adjusted age and gender using SAS version 9.3. The Pearson correlation coefficients between the COPSOQ-K scales and Korean job stress and its subdomain were identified. RESULTS: Cronbach's alpha of COPSOQ-K scales was adequate or good (0.66~0.87). The major COPSOQ-K scales predict job satisfaction, self-rated health, stress, sleeping troubles burnout, and sickness absence. The major COPSOQ-K scales were correlated with Korean job stress and its subdomain. CONCLUSION: The COPSOQ-K scales have satisfactory reliability and criteria-related validity. The COPSOQ-K scales will be useful for the future studies and practices associated with psychosocial working environment.

6.Polymorphism Analysis of Hepatitis G Virus ( HGV ) Based on RT-PCR and RFLP.
Journal of the Korean Society for Microbiology 1997;32(5):593-600
Hepatitis G virus (HGV) is a single-strand RNA virus in the Flaviviridae family, it was recently identified from the plasma of a patient with chronic hepatitis. HOV infection may cause acute and chronic liver disease by blood transfusion, drug addicts, hemophilia, and multiple sexual partners. But clinical significance of infectious pathway is still unclear. In this report, we amplified HGV RNA by reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) by primers within the highly conserved 5'-noncoding region (NCR) and used restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) method for the polymorphism analysis of amplified HGV gene. HGV was shown to be present in 7 of 78 (9.0%) from HCV RT-PCR positive serum samples and 5 of 58 (8.6%) from HCV RT-PCR negative serum samples. From the RFLP method HGV divided into four genotypes in 12 positive samples. Therefore, HGV genotype was distributed at least four different types in Korea.

7.Study on Peripheral T - Cell Pepulation in Parients with Leprosy.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1978;16(1):3-7
It is generally believed that the defense against mycobacterium leprae is largely mediated through cell-mediated immunity(CMI) and several investigators have reported a defective CMI in patients with leprosy. especially the lepromatous from. This study was undertaken to ennumerate the peripheral T-cell population in leprosy patients for evaluation of one aspect of its immune status. Fiftu-two patients with leprosy(26 tuberculoid, 17 active lepromatous, 9 inactive lepromatous) entered in this study. All the patients are under regular antileprosy chemotherapy for varing periods(10 months to 14 years). Peripheral blood T0lymphocytes were enumerated by the E-rosette technique and compared with normal healthy control. The results were as follows: The mean T-cell percentage in peripheral blood was 50.6% in 17 active lepromatous leprosy patients, 62.2% in 9 inactive lepromatous leprosy patients, 67.7% in 26 tuberculoid patients and 69.5% in 17 normal healthy controls, There was marked decrease in the peripheral T-cell ratio in active lepromatous group (p<0,005) and less marked decrease in inactive lepromatous group (0.01.

8.A case of imflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nervus.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1977;15(1):107-111
Inflammatory linear verrueous epidermal nevus (ILVEN) first mentioned by Unna in 1896 is a rare variant of epidermal nevus characterized clinically by early onset in childhood, moderate to marked pruritus and persistent clinical course and histopathologically by predominant features of a chronic dermatitis or psoriasis. We present tbe first recorded case of a typical ILVEN developed in a 20-year-old Korean male, who has had an intensely pruritic linear verrucous patch, involving the entire length of the posterior aspeet of right upper extremity, volar aspect of right thumb and nails of ind.ex and ring finger since 5 years. Microscopic examination of the skin, biopsy specimens from the lesion on the right elbow joint area and the palm showed hyperkeratosis witb focal parakeratosis, moderate to marked acanthosis and elongation of rete ridges and papilla with mild exocytosis and moderate perivascular lymphocytic infiltration. Literature were reviewed.

9.An Experimental Study of Nerve Regeneration after Autograft of Sciatic Nerve with Time Sequence in Rats
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1995;30(4):829-841
When.direct approximation of the ends of the injured nerves is impossible, nerve autografting is widely used in these days. Authors tried to observe nerve regeneration in time sequence of nerve autografting and tried to find out the most optimal time for nerve autografting in experimental study. The Sprague-Dawley mice were used in performing nerve autografting and it performed with the segment of the opposite sciatic nerve as a donor nerve after resection of a sciatic nerve. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The regeneration of axon can be observed well in the first observation of 2 weeks after nerve autografting within 2 days, but active myelination can be observed apparently 4 weeks after grafting. 2. The groups of grafting within 2 days after nerve resection showed more rapid nerve regeneration and less atrophy of the reinnervated skeletal muscle than the groups of grafting over 1 week after nerve resection did. 3. In case which has been grafted at 4 weeks after nerve resection, there was abundant axonal proliferation at 4 weeks after grafting. 4. Changes of the reinnervated skeletal muscle in the groups of grafting within 2 days were subtle, but the groups of grafting after 1 week showed irregular neurogenic atrophy although nerve regeneration has been active at 8 weeks after grafting. 5. Although the functional effect can not be evaluated exactly, the result of autograft showed relatively good evidence of nerve regeneration even after grafting has been performed 16 weeks after the nerve injury.

10.The Relationship between Knowledge, Health Beliefs, and Prevention Behaviors of Osteoporotic Fracture in Patients receiving Osteoporosis Treatment.
Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2010;16(2):147-156
PURPOSE: This study was to examine the relationship of knowledge, health beliefs, and prevention behaviors of osteoporotic fracture in outpatients with osteoporosis. METHODS: The subjects were 120 outpatients receiving osteoporosis treatment on K hospital in G city from Dec. 2007 to Feb. 2008. Questionnaires were collected and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program for descriptive statistics, and t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. RESULTS: Subjects were treated for fracture about 28 months. The mean score of knowledge, health belief and prevention behaviors in subjects were 17.5 +/- 3.22, 2.8 +/- 0.23 and 2.8 +/- 0.38 respectively. The score of health belief recorded the lowest point. However, the score of knowledge varied with general and disease-related characteristics of subjects. In contrast, the score of prevention behaviors did not showed any significant differences. Fracture prevention behavior in subjects showed rather higher relationship with the health belief system than the knowledge of fracture prevention. CONCLUSION: The present work suggested that education program for prevention behaviors of fracture should be developed to focus on altering the health belief system rather than the knowledge of osteoporotic fracture prevention. Furthermore, individual education program based on living circumstances and daily life habits should be also developed.
