Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2002;14(4):602-611
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the influencing factor to self actualization in middle-aged women. METHOD: The subjects for this study were 191 middle-aged women selected by convenience sampling in three cities. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression. RESULT: The results of this study were as follows: 1. The relationship between self-efficacy, social support, self esteem, motivation for achievement, parental satisfaction with children and self-actualization were found to have statistically significant positive correlations. But the relationship between depression and self-actualization were found to have statistically significant negative correlation. 2. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor was social support. Social support, motivation for achievement and self esteem accounted for 38.1% of the variance in self-actualization in middle aged women. CONCLUSION: According to these results, it is recommended that in order to enhance self-actualization in middle-aged women, empowerment of social support, motivation for achievement and self esteem should be pursued.

Journal of the Korean Society of Coloproctology 1998;14(2):323-329
Desmoid tumors are defined as aggressive overgrowth of fibrous sheets and musculoaponeurotic structures. Although desmoid tumors are generally known as a benign neoplasm, it's aggresive local invasiveness and frequent recurrence indicate it's position lying between the benign and malignancy. The association of desmoid tumor and familial adenomtous polyposis(FAP) was first made in 1923 by Nichols. In 1951, Gardner reported the familial occurrence of intestinal polyposis, osteomas, fibromas, and epidermal or sebaceous cyst. Desmoid tumors are common in patients with FAP and Occur in 3.5~29% of patients with FAP whereas the incidence in the gerenal population is 2~5/1,000,000 person years. Surgical resection of desmoids in patients with FAP has been controversial because unresectability and recurrence are more common than cure. Palliative and curative resections have a high morbidity. Surgery should be reserved for those patients with symptomatic mesenteric desmoids. If a small mesenteric desmoid is encountered incidentally and is easily resectable, it should be resected. If surgery has been less than satisfactory in the treatment of these patients, several different medical approaches can be combined with or without surgical resection with mixed result. Authors report a case of unresectable mesenteric desmoid tumor, developing after surgery of FAP and literatures were reviewed

Korean Circulation Journal 2002;32(6):485-491
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Cardiac troponin T (cTnT) has been used as a very sensitive marker of cardiac injury caused by ischaemia, myocarditis, and cardiomyopathy. After cardiac injury, the fetal cTnT isoform expression in the heart and serum cTnT increases. To investigate the increased levels of serum cTnT, and the expression of fetal cTnT isoform in the heart, that can predict myocardial injury, we measured serum cTnT levels and the fetal cTnT isoform expression at various time points during the early phase of myocardial toxicity induced by adriamycin (ADR) in rat. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were injected, intraperitoneally, with ADR (5 mg/kg) twice a week for 2 weeks. Control rats were injected with saline. Serum cTnT levels were measured by ELISA. The ratio of fetal/adult (F/A) cTnT isoform expression (%) was semi-quantified by RT-PCR using total RNA from frozen hearts. RESULTS: Serum cTnT levels did not increase by 1 week after ADR injection, but increased significantly after 2 weeks. The ratio of F/A cTnT in the heart significantly increased from day 1, peaked at 1 week and persisted until the end of 2 week. CONCLUSION: The expression of the fetal cTnT isoform occurred from 1 day after ADR injection when the serum cTnT levels were still normal. Although the serum cTnT level is a very sensitive, and an early marker, of cardiac damages, the fetal cTnT isoform expression in the endomyocardial biopsy specimen may be a more sensitive and an earlier marker in the ADR-induced myocardial damage.

Asian Nursing Research 2021;15(1):53-59
Purpose:
The purpose of this study was threefold: to explore the causal attributions of breast cancer, examine underlying factors of the attributes, and determine their relationship to quality of life among Korean breast cancer survivors.
Methods:
The study used a descriptive correlational design, which included quantitative survey questionnaires and an open-ended question to complement the study. Three hundred and three breast cancer survivors were recruited from two university hospitals in South Korea, between January and April 2018. The causal attributions were explored using the Illness Perception Questionnaire Revised and an open-ended question. The survivors' quality of life was assessed using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy for Breast Cancer. The quantitative analysis was performed using the SPSS 25.0 software package; the ATLAS.ti 8 software was used for thematic analysis.
Results:
Quantitative and qualitative data of 321 and 238 breast cancer survivors, respectively, were analyzed. “Stress and worry” and “diet or eating habits” were believed to be the two most likely causes of breast cancer. Eleven new causal attributes emerged from the analysis. Being diagnosed with breast cancer at an older age (p < .05), having received chemotherapy (p < .05), and holding nonbehavioral causal attributes (p < .001), were significantly related to lower quality of life.
Conclusion
There were differences between the survivors' beliefs on their causes of disease, and causal factors available from the literature. As the survivors' causal attributes were significantly related to their quality of life, healthcare providers should individually assess and incorporate these attributes into their care.

Since sclerosing hemangioma of the lung was first described by Liebow and Hubbell in 1956, there have been several reports on cases occurring as a solitary nodule; however, sclerosing hemangiomas occurring as multiple nodules are extremely rare. The histogenesis of this tumor remains controversial and there are several hypotheses of the etiology. Three separate nodules were found in a 57-year-old housewife, one found in the right middle lobe, one in the apicoposterior segment of the left upper lobe, and one in the superior segment of the left lower lobe. The only symptom or sign presented was a dry cough. Apicoposterior segmentectomy of the left upper lobe and wedge resection of the superior segment of the left lower lobe were performed. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged on the postoperative 15th day.

Lymphocytic interstitial pneumonitis (LIP) is characterized by diffuse bilateral pulmonary infiltrations in both lower lobes. Pleomorphic lymphohistiocytes including mature lymphocytes, variable admixture of plasma cells and other mononuclear cells infiltrate within the pulmonary interstitium, ranging from widened septa to confluent masses. We report a case of LIP associated with Epstein-Barr virus in a patient with SLE and Sj gren's syndrome. A 50-year-old woman was admitted with insidious onset of progressive dyspnea for 20 days. She suffered from arthritis 10 years earlier without specific diagnosis. A radiography of chest has showed bilateral consolidative infiltrations with pleural effusion in both lower lung fields. Open lung biopsy documented lymphocytic interstitial pneumonitis which expressed Epstein-Barr virus genome in situ hybridization study. Following corticosteroid and cyclophosphamide therapy, clinical symptoms and radiologic infiltrations gradually remitted.

Journal of Nutrition and Health 2017;50(6):543-551
PURPOSE: The objective of the present study was to determine whether fermentation can increase the protective effects of blueberry liquid in a high-fat diet-induced obese mice model. METHODS: Male C57BL/6J mice were fed a high-fat diet (HD, 60% fat, w/w,), HD supplemented with 10 ml/kg BW/day of blueberry liquid (BHD, blueberry high-fat diet), or HD supplemented with 10 ml/kg BW/day of fermented blueberry liquid (FBHD, fermented blueberry high-fat diet) for 10 weeks. RESULTS: There were significant decreases in the body, epididymal adipose tissue, and liver weights of blueberry-fed groups compared to HD, whereas there were no significant differences in food intake among the groups. Furthermore, blueberry liquid groups, especially fermented blueberry liquid, significantly attenuated the contents of hepatic triglycerides and total cholesterol induced by HD. Serum LDL-cholesterol was significantly lower in the BHD and FBHD-fed groups, whereas FBHD significantly increased the serum HDL-cholesterol level compared to the control. Concentrations of aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase, and leptins in serum were also reduced by blueberry liquid supplementation. The mRNA expression of hepatic acetyl CoA carboxylase was significantly reduced in both the BHD and FBHD groups compared to HD. Furthermore, FBHD altered the mRNA expression level of hepatic lipolysis genes. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, these results suggest that blueberry, especially fermented blueberry liquid, may improve obesity-related abnormalities.

Journal of Korean Burn Society 2011;14(2):107-110
PURPOSE: The purpose of management of the donor is to maintain a moist condition that promotes healing process and prevents pain, infection. We have performed a prospective study to compare the usefulness between Aquacel Ag(R) and Mepitel(R). METHODS: 36 consecutive patients, in whom STSG was performed, were included into the study. STSG are harvested as a usual manner and the donor site are dressed with Aquacel Ag(R) or Mepitel(R), alternatively. The usefulness are compared with re-epithelialization, pain, frequency to change the second dressing, and ease of application. RESULTS: There are no differences in the days of re-epithelialization, pain perception of patients, but significantly differences in frequency to change the second dressing, and ease of application. Aquacel Ag(R) is better than Mepitel(R). CONCLUSION: We concluded that Aquacel Ag(R) dressing is better than Mepitel(R) for STSG donor site just in the frequency to change the second dressing and ease of application.
