Purpose: : This study aims to identify job stress, emotional intelligence, and exhaustion of the nurses in comprehensive nursing service units and then verify the moderating and mediating effects of emotional intelligence on the relationship between job stress and exhaustion. Methods: : Participants are 118 nurses working in two general hospitals. The collected data are analyzed using the SPSS WIN 27.0 and AMOS 18.0 programs by assessing frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, independent t-test and one-way ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis and bootstrapping. Results: : Exhaustion has a statistically significant positive correlation with job stress (r=.40, p ＜.001) and a statistically significant negative correlation with emotional intelligence (r=-.26, p =.004). A partial mediating effect of emotional intelligence is found between job stress and exhaustion, however, there is no moderating effect. Conclusion : It is expected that to reduce the exhaustion of nurses in comprehensive nursing service units, it is necessary to assess job stress and emotional intelligence, and strengthen emotional intelligence along with job stress intervention.

Fat necrosis is well depicted on imaging by characteristic findings such as oil cysts. However it may be rarely indistinguishable from carcinoma clinically and radiologically, and require biopsy for diagnosis. We report a case of fat necrosis simulating malignancy following reduction mammoplasty. The screening mammogram of a 63-year-old woman, who had received bilateral reduction mammoplasties 10 months previously, showed an irregular high-density lesion with a spiculated margin in the upper inner quadrant of the left breast. Ultrasonography revealed a 1.5 cm sized, ill-defined, and irregular hypoechoic lesion with posterior acoustic shadowing. The confirm diagnosis was fat necrosis, by ultrasonography-guided core needle biopsy. On the 6-month follow-up ultrasonography, the lesion was found to have decreased in size.

Fine needle aspiration cytologic findings in 14 cases of gynecomastia are described. General cytomorphologic features resemble those of fibrocystic disease in women than those of fibroadenoma. Among the cytologic parameters, three-dimensional structure of epithelial cell clusters, presence of micronucleoli and irregularities of nuclear size and shape are suggestive of epithelial proliferative activity. In addition, 4 cases are proliferative breast disease without atypia and 10 cases are nonproliferative breast disease depending on cytologic criteria grading system.

Dumping syndrome has long been associated with gastric surgery. The authors experienced an adult patient presenting with dumping syndrome after meningitis without any previous surgical procedures on the stomach and small bowel. Dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system after infective meningitis may originate from postinfectious sequelae or an immunologic mechanism. A comprehensive study and proper management of autonomic symptoms of patients with a central nervous system infection are needed.

Purpose: : The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the degree of job embeddedness by examining role conflict among intensive care unit nurses, the nursing organizational culture, nurse-physician collaboration, degree of job embeddedness, to understand the relationship between these variables.Method : Participants are 148 nurses from two hospitals in the intensive care unit. Collected data are analyzed using independent t-tests, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlations, and multiple regressions using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: : The factors that significantly influenced the participants’ job embeddedness are role conflict (β=-.19, p =.015), innovation-oriented culture (β=.26, p =.003), and nurse-physician collaboration (β=.24, p =.002). The total explanatory power of these factors for job embeddedness is 44.5% (F=15.06, p =.001). Conclusion : This study identifies role conflict among intensive care unit nurses, innovation-oriented culture, and nurse-physician collaboration as important factors affecting job embeddedness.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to compare communication competence, nursing professionalism, work environment and job satisfaction between outpatient nurses and ward nurses, and to identify the correlation among variables.METHODS: The participants were 90 outpatient nurses and 98 ward nurses at the two general hospitals. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, χ2-test, independent t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficient.RESULTS: There were statistically significant differences between two groups in nursing professionalism, possibilities for development, commitment to the workplace, social support from colleagues, social community at work and job satisfaction, outpatient nurses showed higher level than ward nurses except commitment to the workplace. The work environment variables and nurses' job satisfaction were mostly correlated. Job satisfaction showed significant negatively correlated with quantitative demands, emotional demands and role conflicts in both groups nurses.CONCLUSION: These findings showed that nursing work environments were the most important factor for job satisfaction of both group nurses. Therefore, it is necessary to put efforts in improving nursing work environment and to develop diverse strategies for human resource management.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the sleep disorders related to chronic insomnia and compare the characteristics of each group. METHODS: We registered 191 patients (female 56.0%, age 61.7 years) who have complained about symptoms of insomnia for more than three months and assessed sleep disorders related chronic insomnia by analyzing their polysomnography (PSG) parameters, demographics, and questionnaires (Insomnia Severity Index, Beck Depression Inventory, Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index, and Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment Instrument abbreviated version). RESULTS: Patients were categorized into groups of primary insomnia (PI, 51.8%, n=99), comorbid insomnia with obstructive sleep apnea (CIO, 38.7%, n=74), and comorbid insomnia with periodic limb movement disorder (CIP, 9.4%, n=18). CIO was older and more obese than PI and CIP. The proportion of males was the highest in CIO. Arousal index of PSG was higher in CIO and CIP than in PI. Other parameters and the results of questionnaires were not different among groups. CONCLUSIONS: About a half of patients with chronic insomnia symptoms (48.2%) had considerable sleep disorders associated with insomnia. Our study suggests that the PSG as well as history taking and demographics are necessary to clarify the relevant conditions of chronic insomnia disorder for appropriate treatment.

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) recently has been utilized widely as the most successful technique to overcome the unfertilization problem in cases of severe male infertility in couples who could not be treated by conventional IVF. Recently, indications of ICSI have been extended further and more fertilized oocytes become available. Thus, it is necessary to examine the efficiency of freezing the surplus embryos obtained from ICSI. We compared the survival rate and the future outcome of cryopreserved embryos obtained either after conventional IVF or ICSI during the same period. After ICSI or IVF, five best-quality embryos from each patient were transferred in the stimulation cycle and the surplus pronuclear (PN) stage oocytes or multicellular embryos were cryopreserved by slow freezing protocol with 1,2-propanediol (PROH) as a cryoprotectant.4 total of 792 embryos from ICSI trial were thawed and 65.2% (516/792) survived. The survival rates of PN stage oocyte, multicellular embryo and PN + multicellular embryo were 63.5%, 68.2%, 64.0%, respectively. After 111 transfers, 34 pregnancies were achieved, corresponding to a clinical pregnancy rate of 30.6% per transfers. We thawed 1033 embryos from IVF trials and 57.5% (594/1033) survived. In IVF cycle, the survival rates of PN stage oocyte, multicellular embryo and PN + multicellular embryo were 58.2%, 65.2%, 40.2%, respectively. Thirty eight clinical pregnancies were established after 134 transfers, corresponding to a pregnancy rate of 28.4% per transfer The cleavage rate of thawed PN stage oocytes from ICSI trial (61.3%) was significantly higher than those from conventional IVF (53.4%). The developmental rates of good embryo (> or = grade II) in thawed PN stage oocytes obtained from conventional IVF and ICSI were 63% and 65%, respectively. We concluded that PN stage oocytes, multicellular embryos resulting from ICSI procedure can be successfully frozen/thawed with reasonable clinical pregnancy rates comparable to those of IVF.
