Korean Journal of Pathology 1992;26(2):171-174
Two cases of suprasellar papillary craniopharyngioma are presented. The tumors are exclusively composed of well-formed papillary squamous epithelium and show morphologic homogeneity. There is no palisading basal layer in squamous epithelium. Clinical and radiologic findings, exclusive occurrence in adult and lack of calcification, are much different from conventional craniopharyngioma. Differences between papillary craniopharyngiom and conventional craniopharyngioma are discussed.

Glassy cell carcinoma is an unusual neoplasm of the uterine cervix with highly aggressive clinical behavior. On cervico-vaginal smear examination, the tumor has well confused of atypical repair cell of the endocervix. Recently, we have experienced two cases of glassy cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix, diagnosed on cervico-vaginal smears and confirmed on following histologic sections. The cervico-vaginal smears revealed abundant clusters with well defined boarders. The cell clusters were composed of large tumor cells. The tumor cells had distinct granular cytoplasm and eosinophilic macronucleoli. Characteristic cytologic features of this tumor were discussed in view of differential diagnosis.

To investigate the role of the p53 gene in the development of endometrial adenocarcinoma and to study the relation between alteration of the p53 gene and histologic grade, the author studied the alteration of thep53 gene in hyperplastic lesions and adenocarcinomas of the uterine endometrium. The study was carried out with immunohistochemical stain and PCR-SSCP. The materials included ten cases of endometrial hyperplasia (five simple and five atypical complex) and 18 cases of endometrial adenocarcinoma. Overexpression of the p53 protein were found in one of five atypical complex hyperplasias (20%) and 11 of 18 adenocarcinomas (61.1%). The intensity of p53 overexpression appeared to have increasing tendency with higher histologic grade of adenocarcinomas. Among the II cases of adenocarcinoma that overexpressed p53 protien, five cases (45.5%) were found to have mutations by PCR-SSCP. One was grade 1 (20%), two were grade 11 (25%), and two were grade III (40%). The sites of mutation were three exon 8, one exon 5, and one exon 6. In conclusion, alteration of the p53 gene may paly a role in the development of endometrial adenocarcinoma and appears to occur as a late event in carcinogenesis.HHowever, inactivation of the p53 gene in early stage of tumor development cannot be excluded.

Korean Journal of Community Nutrition 2009;14(3):340-353
It is very important to screen the elderly for nutritional risk, because nutritional status is a critical factor to maintain their health. Some nutrition checklists used in Korea for the elderly are from other countries. Reliability of those checklist in Korea is not studied enough. This survey was done for the elderly over 65-years-old who live in Hongcheon, An-dong, Dam-yang and Yeon-gi in Korea (subject; summer: 146, winter: 145) to study the reliability of DETERMINE checklist which is adopted widely in Korea. Using the score of DETERMINE checklist, the elderly were divided as high, middle and low risk groups. For nutritional assessment for those elderly, dietary assessment using 24 recall, anthropometry, biochemical assessment and health condition were used. Results for the checklist showed that percentage below EAR for energy intake and protein intake in winter were higher in the high risk group than other groups. The intakes of phosphorus and iron and most vitamins were below the DRI. The percentage of subjects with intake below DRI was highest in the high risk group. Sensitivity, specificity, and positive predictive values using the DETERMINE were calculated using 6 point as a cut-off point. Subjects were divided into two groups by MAR (MAR< 0.75:undernutrition, MAR< 0.75 : normal). Sensitivity recorded 49.4% and 34.3%, specificity did 61.9% and 65.4 and Positive predictive value did 62.1% and 46.0% each for summer and winter. Results of screening using DETERMINE Checklist were not matched with dietary assessment but not with anthropometric and biochemical measurement. In conclusion DETERMINE 'Checklist' is shown be a good screening tool for finding out risk groups for dietary intake in the elderly, It needs to verify reliability and validity through large-scale survey.

Korean Journal of Cytopathology 1990;1(2):121-128
Endometrial papillary serous carcinoma (EPSC) is a distinct variant of endometrial adenocarcinoma that histologically resembles ovarian serous papillary adenocarcinoma and has an aggressive clinical course. Usually, the tumor is diagnosed at the advanced stage. The tumor has well confused with metastatic ovarian tumor of identical histology. Diagnosis of EPSC should be considered when the cervico-vaginal smear reveals numerous papillary clusters of tumor cells with macronucleoli and psammoma bodies. Recently, we have experienced two cases of EPSC diagnosed on cervico-vaginal smears, which revealed characteristic cytologic features including numerous papillary clusters of tumor cells with macronucleoli. The cytologic diagnoses were confirmed on histologic sections.

Journal of Agricultural Medicine & Community Health 2018;43(4):213-223
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the knowledge, attitude and preventive behaviors of tuberculosis in male high school students and to identify the factors influencing preventive behaviors and to provide basic data for the development of prevention programs for tuberculosis of male high school students. METHODS: This study was conducted from May 1, 2018 to May 30, 2018, and six high school students in S city and Y city of Jeonnam were selected. 465 male high school students in the first grade were selected. Collected data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, pearsons's correlation and Multiple regression analysis by SPSS/WIN 21.0 program RESULTS: As a result, the knowledge score was 11.92, the attitude score was 28.32 and the prevention behavior score was 30.07. All of these correlations were statistically correlated. In addition, factors influencing preventive actions against tuberculosis were attitude toward tuberculosis, exercise, health status, and sleep time CONCLUSIONS: Based on the above results, it is thought that to improve the preventive behavior of tuberculosis in male high school students, it is necessary to develop a practice-oriented program for forming healthy lifestyle as well as to change the attitude toward tuberculosis positively.

Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 2000;43(11):1501-1504
Tracheal bronchus is an aberrant bronchus that arises most often from the right tracheal wall above the carina and is the result of an additional tracheal outgrowth early in embryonic life. It; incidence ranges between 0.1 and 5%. This anomaly is usually diagnosed incidentally during bronchoscopy, bronchography or computed tomography. Occasionally, it represents the underlying etiology for chronic pulmonary disease, especially if it involves the right upper lobe and reflects an abnorrnal pulmonary clearing mechanism. The tracheal bronchus may be associated with other bronchopulmonary anomalies, tracheal stenosis, or Down's syndrome. Asymptornatic tracheal bronchus does not require any treatment. In case of tracheal bronchus associated recurrent right upper lobe diseases, tracheal bronchus therapy should include resection of the aberrant bronchus as well as the lob it supplies. 9.Clinical Application of Cardiac Hybrid Imaging in Coronary Artery Disease.
Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 2009;26(1):15-23
Constant technological developments in coronary artery disease have contributed to the assessment of both the presence of coronary stenosis and its hemodynamic consequences. Hence, noninvasive imaging helps guide therapeutic decisions by providing complementary information on coronary morphology and on myocardial perfusion and metabolism. This can be done using single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT) or positron emission tomography(PET) and multidetector CT(MDCT). Advances in image-processing software and the advent of SPECT/CT and PET/CT have paved the way for the combination of image datasets from different modalities, giving rise to hybrid imaging. Three dimensional cardiac hybrid imaging helped to confirm hemodynamic significance in many lesions, add new lesions such as left main coronay artery disease, exclude equivocal defects, correct the corresponding arteries to their allocated defects and identify culprit segment. Cardiac hybrid imaging avoids the mental integration of functional and morphologic images and facilitates a comprehensive interpretation of coronary lesions and their pathophysiologic adequacy by three dimensional display of fused images, and allows the best evaluation of myocardial territories and the coronary-artery branches that serve each territory. This integration of functional and morphological information were feasible to intuitively convincing and might facilitate developmnt of a comprehensive non-invasive assessment of coronary artery disease.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2003;44(2):351-356
PURPOSE: To determine the benefit of optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the diagnosis of vitreomacular traction syndrome and evaluate the vitreoretinal interface before and after vitreous surgery. METHODS: Medical records of five patients with vitreomacular traction syndrome who had undergone vitrectomy were reviewed. Preoperative and postoperative visual acuity and preoperative and postoperative OCT were reviewed. In all patients OCT demonstrated posterior vitreous detachment and a focal adhesion of hyaloid membrane to macula with traction on the foveal retinal tissue. All of them underwent pars plana vitrectomy with peeling of poterior hyaloid face. RESULTS: Visual acuity improved in 4 eyes after the first vitrectomy. One eye developed postoperatively a macular hole, which was treated with the second vitrectomy and intravitreal gas tamponade with subsequent improvement in vision. In 4 eyes, OCT showed elimination of vitreous strand, relief of vitreous traction and restoration of normal foveal contour after vitrectomy. CONCLUSION: Optical coherence tomography is a useful tool in the diagnosis of vitreomacular traction syndrome and in the evaluation of status of vitreoretinal interface before and after vitrectomy. Following pars plana vitrectomy, vision improved and normal foveal contour was restored.
