Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2005;17(2):287-297
PURPOSE: The purpose of the study is to investigate the correlation between burden, health status and well-being in spouse caregivers of patients with stroke. METHOD: The subjects of this study were 160 spouse caregivers registered at general hospital in Seoul and Seongnam. The data were collected from July 2th to October 30th, 2003. The Suh & Oh's burden scale, Yang's health status scale and Park's well-being scale were employed to measure burden, health status and wellbeing respectively. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS 12 version to obtain summary statistics for the descriptive analysis, Pearson Correlation, and Stepwise Multiple Regression. RESULTS: 1. The mean score of the degree of burden, health status and well-being were 3.52, 5.92 and 3.64 points. 2. The burden of the subjects were significantly negative correlated with psycho- logical health status(r=-.482. p<.01) and wellbeing(r=-.455, p<.01). 3. With the result of stepwise multiple regression, psychological health status and wellbeing were the main variables which could explain burden by 27.1%. CONCLUSION: The findings of this study will provide practical guidelines for developing emotional nursing interventions for the spouses taking care of CVA patients who would experience a heavy burden and distress.

4.Effect of Intervention Programs for Improving Maternal Adaptation in Korea: Systematic Review.
Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2013;19(3):129-141
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the current state of nursing intervention for maternal adaptation and its' effectiveness in Korea by utilizing a systematic review. METHODS: The PICO(Population-Intervention-Compar ator-Outcome) strategy was established, and 1,720 pieces of literature published during the last ten-year period from four electronic databases were reviewed. Eighteen references that met inclusion and exclusion criteria were finally selected for systematic review. The quality of references using critical appraisal checklist for experimental studies were evaluated, and then systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted. RESULTS: All 18 references were quasi-experimental research design. Most interventions were provided at the hospital and postpartum care center. Maternal adaptation interventions appeared to be of many types, and particularly maternal role education programs were the most common. Confidence in maternal role was used as the most common variable for the maternal adaptati on. Various interventions for helping maternal adaptation in the postnatal period improved maternal confidence, moth er-infant attachment, maternal satisfaction and mother-infant interaction effectively. CONCLUSION: A diversity of nursin g interventions in postnatal period improved various aspects of maternal adaptation. Randomized controlled trials and longitudinal studies are needed in order to verify the effect of interventions for maternal adaptation more clearly.

5.Sinus floor augmentation at the time of tooth removal.

The Journal of the Korean Academy of Periodontology 2007;37(3):647-653
Rapid crestal bone resorption following maxillary tooth loss is further accentuated in the posterior regions because of pneumatization and enlargement of the maxillary sinuses. A treatment rationale that allows preservation and augmentation of vertical available bone at the time of posterior maxillary tooth extraction may offer numerous therapeutic benefits which are more short courses of therapy and no needs of additional surgical augmentation. The present study comprised 3 patients who had 4 posterior maxillary teeth with no evident bone between the tooth apex and sinus floor, as estimated through preoperative radiographic analysis. Sinus floor augmentation at the time of tooth extraction was chosen for the ltreatment of these patients. After the tooth was carefully extracted, the empty alveolus was thoroughly debrided and a trephine approach was performed. Particulated autogenous bone was gently pushed beyond the empty alveolus to elevate the sinus membrane using an osteotome. The distance between bone crest and sinus floor was radiographically estimated 4 months after the first procedure. Another procedure was then carried out to place the implants of 11 mm length without another augmentation procedure. All implant were clinically stable, with no sign of infection. The presented surgical procedure performed at the time of extraction of posterior maxillary teeth in close proximity to the sinus floor allowed placement of implants of proper length.

7.Effects of Post-Traumatic Stress and Depression on the Relationship between Perceived Stress and Suicidality of a Metropolitan Citizen: The Moderating Effect of Resilience
Eun Ju BONG ; Hyo-Ja AN ; Ahn BAE
Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2025;34(1):29-39
Purpose:
This study aimed to examine the mediating effects of posttraumatic stress and depression on the relationship between perceived stress and suicidality, and to explore the moderating and moderated mediating effects of resilience in this relationship.
Methods:
This secondary data analysis utilized data from the 2023 G metropolitan city mental health survey, which included 1,000 participants. The analysis was conducted using SPSS/WIN 25.0 and the PROCESS macro 4.3, with significant values of resilience identified using the Johnson- Neyman method.
Results:
Posttraumatic stress and depression were found to mediate the effect of perceived stress on suicidality. Additionally, resilience moderated the relationships between perceived stress and posttraumatic stress, as well as between posttraumatic stress and depression. Furthermore, resilience had a moderated mediating effect on the relationship between stress and suicidality. Specifically, when resilience levels were between 84.14 and 84.90, posttraumatic stress did not significantly affect depression, and the dual mediating effect of posttraumatic stress and depression on the relationship between stress and suicidality was not observed.
Conclusion
The findings suggest that developing resilience training programs may be essential for suicide prevention, even in contexts of severe stress or trauma.
