Asian Nursing Research 2016;10(2):143-149
PURPOSE: Most undergraduate students are in the phase of gaining mental and physical autonomy from their parents as they expand their worlds. The ways that sexual ethics are established during this time may have an important influence on healthy lifestyles and the maintenance of social order. This study aims to determine a typology of undergraduate students' sexual ethics and the characteristics that compose the types. METHODS: Q methodology, which analyzes the subjectivity of each type of attitude, was used. The 44 selected Q statements from 43 participants were classified into the shape of a normal distribution using a 9-point scale. The collected data were analyzed using the PC-QUANL program. RESULTS: The results revealed three discrete groups of students with respect to sexual ethics: traditional absolute purity type, open-minded compromise type, and rational responsibility type. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study indicate that different approaches to educational programs on sexual ethics are recommended for undergraduate students based on the three types studied.

Journal of Korean Society of Medical Informatics 2009;15(4):361-371
The Korean law on medicine was amended in 2003 to introduce new provisions for telemedicine, electronic medical record, and electronic prescription. However, this has not satisfied the realities of the increased demand on medical services and related technology development, resulting in calls for a legislative amendment. In this regard, recent active promotion projects and the advance notice proposing a new amendment by the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Family Affairs have raised the need for active discussions on telemedicine because the current law on medicine and its amendment do not adequately address the individual privacy protection aspect in the telemedicine environment. In this regard, this study examines current domestic and foreign legal systems on telemedicine and privacy protection, drawing and reviewing subjects to be discussed for individual privacy protection in telemedicine, and proposes plans that may improve Korea's legal system. The domestic and foreign literature on telemedicine and privacy protection was reviewed, recent legislations on telemedicine and views of interest groups were considered, and expert opinions were collected. In addition, the main discussions on privacy protection in telemedicine were identified and reviewed, including information ownership, the scope of privacy protection, the right to review and request correction, and privacy protection matters related to foreign patients. The recent amendment to tele medicine contains a provision only on penalties for privacy protection violations. The main discussions in this study on privacy protection are expected to be reflected in future amendments to enforcement rules and sub-ordinances such as the enforcement ordinance.

Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 1997;33(4):591-603
BACKGROUND: When used to reverse the anticoagulant effect of heparin, protamine administration after cardiovascular bypass often can lead to systemic hypotension. During the reversal of heparin-induced anticoagulation, the effects of protamine on both a heparin-protamine complex and free protamine on the cardiovascular system should be considered. METHOD: To determine whether the hypotensive effect of heparin-protamine and/or protamine could be caused by endothelium-dependent and-independent component, we studied rings of the arotic arteries in rats suspended in organ chambers containing Tris Tyrode solution at 37oC and 100% O2. Arterial rings with or without endothelium were contracted with 40 mM KCl or 3 +/- 10-6M phenylephrine and then exposed to increasing concentrations of protamine (final organ bath concentration, 40~400 g/ml) both in the absence and presence of heparin (200 U/ml). RESULTS: Protamine induced concentration-dependent relaxation in arterial rings with endothelium, which were significantly greater than in rings without endothelium. The endothelium-dependent relaxation induced by protamine was inhibited by NG-monomethyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA) (10-5M) pretreatment, but was not inhibited by indomethacin (3x10-6M) pretreatment on rings with endothelium. Furthermore, the contractile inhibition was enhanced by superoxide dismutase (100 U/ml). Also, such vasodilating actions were not influenced in the presence of heparin (200 U/ml). In endothelium-denuded strips, protamine (400ug/ml) inhibited Ca++ induced contraction, which was evoked in Ca++-free solution containing 40 mM K+, and also inhibited the norepinephrine (NE)-induced contraction. Protamine inhibited on the NE-induced contraction, but not the caffein-induced contration in Ca++ free, 2 mM EGTA solution. Also, such inhibition of contracions were not inluenced in the presence of heparin (40 U/ml). CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates that protamine (in the presence or absence of heparin) acts on endothelial cell receptors to stimulate the production of nitric oxide and inhibits both Ca++-influx and the NE-induced Ca++ release from intracellular stores.

Imaging Science in Dentistry 2015;45(4):227-232
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of methods of establishing the midsagittal reference plane (MRP) on the locations of midfacial landmarks in the three-dimensional computed tomography (CT) analysis of facial asymmetry. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 24 patients (12 male and 12 female; mean age, 22.5 years; age range, 18.2-29.7 years) with facial asymmetry were included in this study. The MRP was established using two different methods on each patient's CT image. The x-coordinates of four midfacial landmarks (the menton, nasion, upper incisor, and lower incisor) were obtained by measuring the distance and direction of the landmarks from the MRP, and the two methods were compared statistically. The direction of deviation and the severity of asymmetry found using each method were also compared. RESULTS: The x-coordinates of the four anatomic landmarks all showed a statistically significant difference between the two methods of establishing the MRP. For the nasion and lower incisor, six patients (25.0%) showed a change in the direction of deviation. The severity of asymmetry also changed in 16 patients (66.7%). CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that the locations of midfacial landmarks change significantly according to the method used to establish the MRP.
