1.A Case of Intraepithelial Epithelioma(Bowen's Disease) of the Cornea and Conjunctiva.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1968;9(1):41-44
The authors have recently treated a case of intraepithelial epithelioma(Bowen's disease) of the cornea and conjunctiva. This 66 year old male had a gray whitish elevated smooth mass on the lateral area of the corneal limbus and bulbar conjunctiva. Simple surgical excision was indicated since the lesion is benign but it recurred in 10 months. The recurrent lesion was excised again surgically. The histopathological features of previous specimen showed simple proliferation of one of the normal conjunctival and corneal epithelial cells in the epithelial layer, rather then an alteration in the chracter of the cells as the case in other malignant neoplasm. The second excised specimen showed marked proliferated epitheloid cells, keratosis, and chronic inflammatory cell infiltration but the lesion was limited to the epithelial layer without any evidence of invasion into the stroma.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1989;27(6):655-659
Vasoconstrictive effect of several topicsl corticosteroids was measured using laser Doppler flowmeter. Hydrophilic ointment base, 1% hydrocortisone cream, 0.1% clocortolone pivalate cream, and 0.25% desoxymethasone cream were applied on both forearms of 20 volunteers. To augment the vasoconstrictive effect of the corticosteroids, We had cut off the blood flow to forearms for 4 minutes by tourniquet. The reactive hyperemia was measured by laser Doppler flowmeter and the ares under the curve were calculated by digitizer aided by a computer. The mean areas of esch drugs were in the following order : hydrophilic ointment base, 0.1% clocortolone pivalate cream, 1% hydrocortisone crearn and 0.25% desoxymethasone cream. However, the standard deviations were too large for the difference to be statistically significant. We concluded that laser Doppler flowmeter is not suitable for the measurement of vasoconstrictive effect of corticosteroid.

Annals of Dermatology 1997;9(1):26-30
A few cases of reticulate acropigmentary disorders have been reported in Korea. Most of them were reticulate acropigmentation of Kitamura, but not acropigmentation symmetrica of Dohi. A 21 year-old male patient diagnosed as acropigmentation symmetrica of Dohi had been previously treated with various treatment methods unsuccessfully. Re-treatment with the Q-switched alexandrite laser(755 nm, 100nsec) showed a temporary improvement but a relapse of the lesion was experienced again. We describe a case of acropigmentation symmetrica of hi treated with the Q-switched alexandrite laser.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1984;22(2):191-195
As the incidence of dermographism in our urticaria clinie is quite high comparing data in other country, we have tried to survey the incidence of ermographism in the general population of Korea using a dermographic tester designed by other author. Total 8g7 healthy persons were included in this study from March J98$ to .December 1983. The study result was summarized as follows, 1. Male to female ratio was 2. 5: 1 and the peak age of the subjects was third(47 8%), fourth and fith decades in ecreasing order, The overall incidence of dermographisrn from the pressure of 48ppg/cm was 4.4% and there were no significa.nt difference in the incidences between male(4, 2%) and female(4 7%) (p>0. 1), and between the different age groups(p>0 l)

Great strides have been made not only in the research of the endogenous electrical signals, but also in the clinical application on nonunions using exogenous electrical signals. We measured human skin steady state potentials on the anteromedial surface of the twenty-eight left proximal tibiae and investigated intraosseous induced potentials created by a capacitively coupled signal applied on the proximal tibia of ten rabbits' right hind limbs. Following results were observed: 1. Human skin epiphysio-metaphyseal and epiphysio-diaphyseal potential differences in resting state were 116.1±11.7µV, and 120.5±29.4µV, respectively(P> 0.05), while those in full weight bearing were 310.3±169.4µV, and 404.2±154.1µV, respectively (P<0.05). 2. Skin steady state potentials were affected by muscle contraction and load bearing. 3. Thraugh a sequence of applied voltage of 2, 5, 10, 20, and 30 volts peak to peak, linear increase in the intraosseous induced potentials were produced. 4. Intraosseous induced potentials increased, although their increasing rates being decelerated, with increasing frequencies of 2, 20, 60, 120, and 200 KHz. 5. Higher intraosseous induced potentials were produced,as conductive jelly was applied between the capacitor plates and skin.

Journal of Korean Academy of Oral Health 2020;44(4):228-233
Objectives:
In this study, we aimed to investigate the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)-related knowledge, attitude, and performance among dental hygienists working in the hospitals. We believe that it is important to develop CPR education programs that would enable dental hygienists to offer accurate and timely aid in emergency situations.
Methods:
From June 20 to August 20, 2019, 220 dental hygienists at seven selected dental hospitals located in Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeollanam-do, South Korea were requested to fill a questionnaire as part of a survey. The data regarding the general characteristics, CPR-related characteristics, and CPR-related knowledge, approach, and performance were collected, and analyzed using independent t-tests, oneway analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and simple regression analysis using the SPSS Windows ver. 25.0.
Results:
Correlation analysis revealed that high CPR-related knowledge and a more positive approach towards CPR are both associated with high confidence in performing CPR (r=0.37, r=0.415, r=0.605). Furthermore, factors, such as high CPR-related knowledge, positive attitude towards CPR, knowledge regarding the location of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the hospital, and AED training experience significantly affects the CPR-related performance.
Conclusions
Therefore, it is important to develop systematic and beneficial educational programs and provide and update educational material regularly in dental hospitals with an aim to improve CPR-related knowledge and attitude among the dental hygienists.

Primary aldosteronism is in most cases due either to a unilateral adrenal adenama or to a bilateral hyperplasia of the adrenal cortex. But, a few of bilateral adrena1 tumors in primary aldosteronism also have been reported. In these cases, it is important to differentiate the bilateral aldosterone producing adenomas from the unilateral aldosteronoma in the presence of a contralateral nonhmctioning adenoma for marking a treatment plan. We report a case of primary aldosteronism due to a unilateral aldosteronoma in the presence of a contralateral nonfunctioning adenoma. Abdominal CT sean revealed bilateral adrenal tumors, of which the functioning one was successfully localized using adrenal scintigraphy and selective adrenal venous sampling.

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2002;45(6):972-977
OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to analyze the present conditions of hypertensive diseases in pregnancy so as to examine the differences between the urban and rural communities in the southwest region of Chonnam about prenatal care from 1996 to 2000. METHODS: We analyzed the clinical characteristics of only 251 out of 13,296 pregnant women who were hospitalized to be delivered in Department of obstetrics and gynecology in the Mokpo Catholic Hospital for the past five years from 1996 to 2000. RESULTS: The incidence of hypertensive diseases in pregnancy was 1.89% of the total deliveries: mild preeclampsia (55.4%), severe preeclampsia (38.2%), eclampsia (1.2%) and chronic hypertension (5.2%). Hypertensive diseases in pregnancy was common in the age group of 25-29 years (45.9%) and in gestational age of 37-40 weeks was 67.3%. The rate of vaginal delivery was 49.0%: spontaneous delivery (33.5%), induced labor (15.5%) but the rate of cesarean section was 51%. As a maternal complications, anemia (55.7%) and postpartum hemorrhage (11.4%) were developed and fetus and neonatal complication due to intrauterine growth restriction showed a considerably high rate of 12.2%. Seen from the interrelation between a residential district and the frequency of prenatal care, 40.6% of pregnant women were undergone an prenatal care at most one time, especially 53.4% of reside in rural area (p<.05). The correlation between the frequency of prenatal care and the seriousness of an illness took up 52.1% of preeclampsia and 66.7% of eclampsia out of 102 women who were got the prenatal care at most one time. This is of great statistical significance (p<.05). The interrelation between the seriousness of an illness and residential district made little difference (p>.05). CONCLUSION: Not only a study of the cause and early diagnosis of hypertensive diseases in pregnancy, but also prenatal care, early checkup and education with keeping in close contact with an executive agency will lead to decrease newborn infant mortality and hypertensive diseases in pregnancy.

The Korean Journal of Parasitology 2002;40(3):157-162
Plasmodium vivax malaria re-emerged in South Korea in 1993, and epidemics continue since then. We examined genetic variation in the region encompassing the apical membrane antigen-1 (PvAMA-1) of the parasites by DNA sequencing of the 22 re-emerging P. vivax isolates. The genotype of the PvAMA-1, which was based on sequence data previously reported for the polymorphic regions, showed that two haplotypes were present at one polymorphic site. Compared with reported data, the two types, SKOR type I and type II, were similar to Chinese CH-10A and CH-05A isolates, respectively. Thus, the present study showed that two genotypes of AMA-1 genes coexist in the re-emerging Korean P. vivax.
