Although hepatitis B virus is usually transmitted parenterally, many cases of in fection occur in which overt parenteral contact with the virus cannot be shown. Skin is cansidered to be one route of it and there have been a few related reports recently. As Korea is one of the endemic areas of hepatitis B virus infection, I have checked HBsAg,Anti-HBs, Anti-HBc by radioimmunoassay in patients with hand eczerna to confirm other authors recent report which suggested hand skin lesion is one of the risk factors of hepatitis B virus infection. Total 41 patients were included in this study and all patients were female except one. The study results were as follows. The total prevalence rate of HBsAg was 4, 9% which is not significant different from the control. 2 The total prevalence rate kers including HBsAg was control. of the patients showed positive for one or more markers 5g 5%, which was not significant different from the contorl.

Since the foundation of Korean Contact Dermatitis Resear Group in 1980, many reports related to contact dermatitiis have been published. In this articl, 94 Korean references related to epidemiology and clinical aspect of contact dermatitis which have been published for the past 2 decades were reviewcied apers about medicaments were mos 1 equent(53) and, plants and animals(25), occupation(33), cosmetics(23), metals(19) loere in order of frequency. lhe general incidences of contact dermatitis were 5.3% 13.5% in the general out-patients. The main allergens which showed high positive rates in rovin. patch tests were a little different according to the different authors. In common allergens reckel sulfate and cobalt chloride showed increasing tendencies, while ammoniated mercury, first alldehyde, paraphenylene diamine and rubber chemicals showed decreasing tendendies. Potassiun a chromate, neomycin sulfate, and fragrance related allergens which are also commonly encountred showed variable positive rates according to the different authors. In MOHL indices less occuational and few leg ulcer cases have been observed. Obtaining informations are the key point of publication becteria, there have been more aborted studies which were presented at the annual contact dermatit ymposia in Korea, however not published.

Translation of terminology into Korean in the field of medicine has been one of the important tasks for the last several decades in Korea. Translation of medical terminology is deeply indebted to the Japanese scholars and direct adaptation of their work by the Korean scholars was the main trend since long time ago. This is because we share Chinese characters and the grammar structure. Although some modification and addition of new translation which is more suitable for the Korean language system has been tried in different aspects in the past editions of English-Korean medical terminology books, extensive works has been performed for the 4th edition which was published by the Korean Medical Association in 2001. The Korean Dermatological Association published the first editon of dermatology terminology book in 1983 and the 2nd edition in 1993. Many of them have been adapted in the 4th edition by the Korean Medical Association. However, many changes are noticed representing new trials with innovative ideas. This special article covers some changes of dermatological terminology between the old and new editions of terminology book published by the Korean Medical Association. Major examples are summarized in several tables.

In order to make an effective occupational health service program in a shipbuilding industry, I surveyed the workers' recognition of current occupational health service provided in health department of the workplace, their satisfaction with it and their need of future service. During 4 months in 1995(from April 1st to July 31th) , structured questionnaires were administered to 680 participants in health education program in a shipbuilding industry in Inchon. Most of them were men. They were young workers of 20-29 years old and their work tenures were short(5 years or less). They knew that main activity of current OHS was treatment of disease in workplace, but their satisfaction with current OHS was not good. Their satisfaction with management of general diseases was high in the case of acute disease, namely, URI, diarrhea, abdominal pain, however their need of future service in general diseases was high in the case of chronic disease, namely, hepatitis, back pain and so on. Their concern of work related disease, their recognition of and satisfaction with preplacement medical examination was high, and they need more medical care of occupational disease. In working environmental management service, recognition of and satisfaction with the activities related to the personal protectives, safety management were high, and they need highly communication of environmental evaluation and improvement of working environment. The opinions of workers strongly showed the need of improvement in specific health examination and evaluation of work environment. Conclusively the workers were not satisfied with current in plant occupational health service. They wanted better services, especially in the medical care of occupational disease and the management of work environment.

Sexually transmitted diseases(STD) are quite common and observed more frequently in teens. The adolescents represent a group at particular risk for STD due to biological, sociocultural and psychological factors. Undetected infections may lead to unwanted sequelae, including pelvic inflammatory disease, chronic abdominal pain, tubal scarring and increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. Recently, the guidelines for the treatment of sexually transmitted disease have been developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) after consultation to a group of professionals in Atlanta during September 26~28, 2000 and published on May 10, 2002. This paper deals with the modified and simplified guidelines for STD for primary general practitions referring recommendation and reports of CDC.

Fifty-five patients completed a questionaire to assess disability caused by atopic dermatitis. The eleven most relevant questions were identified and an Atopic Dermatitis Disability Index (ADDI) calculated. The index correlated with the clinical severity score (rs=0.273, 0.01 <0.05). The index may be used as a simple repeatable record of disability caused by atopic dermatitis and may potentially aid management decisions.

PURPOSE: This study is to identify the factors that affect middle-aged workers' health promoting behaviors. METHODS: 214 middle-aged workers participated in surveys, and the data were collected from August to September 2012 and analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with PASW 18.0 program. RESULTS: It was found that among the factors, the degree of job stress (t=7.69, p<.001) and depression (t=6.23, p<.001) were significantly high for type D individuals, while non type D showed meaningful degree of self-related health status (t=-3.66, p<.001) and health promoting behaviors (t=-4.71, p<.001). The notable variable that affected the health promoting behaviors of the middle-aged workers was depression for both type D (beta=-.357, p= .029) and non type D (beta=-.325, p<.001) individuals, and this variable accounted for 24.1% and 18.2% respectively. CONCLUSION: The study revealed that the middle-aged workers showed high degree of job stress and depression that influenced on their health promoting behaviors. Thus, they are recommended to receive health management programs that offer treatment through consulting considering their individual personalities.

BACKGROUND: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is frequent in hemophilia patients treated with non-viral inactivated factor concentrates. In Korea, solvent/detergent method was introduced in 1989 and majority of hemophila patients treated before 1989 were infected with HCV. A number of studies have described the identification of virus genotypes in different geographical regions and racial groups. In order to clarify the characteristics of HCV infection in Korean hemophiliacs, we investigated the HCV genotypes in 125 hemophilia patients infected with HCV. METHODS: The HCV infection was confirmed by anti-HCV test and HCV-RNA detection method. To analyze the HCV genotypes, we used the reverse hybridization line probe assay (INNO LiPA HCV II, Innogenetics N.V., Belgium). RESULTS: Among 125 hemophilia patients, ten (8.0%) patients were infected with type 1a, 56 (44.8%) type 1b, 38 (30.4%) ambiguous type 2a/2c, eight (6.4%) type 2b, four (3.2%) type 3a, two (1.6%) type 4. And seven (5.6%) patients had mixed infection (four 1b+2a/2c, one 1a+2a/2c, one 2b+2a/2c, one 1a+2b+2a/2c). CONCLUSION: In Korean hemophiliacs, HCV genotype 1b was the most predominant and 2a/2c the second.
