2.A Clinical Study of 50 Case of Fracture of the Pelvis
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1969;4(3):33-39
1. Fifty one cases of fractures of the shaft of the femur in children, treated at Seoul National University Hospital during the seven years, from August 1962 to July 1969, were analyzed. 2. In thirty eight of the cases fracture involved the middle third of the shaft, in eleven the upper third, and in two the lower third. 3. Bryant traction was employed in fifteen of the cases ranging from four months to six years of age. One case, five years old, was complicated by Volkmanns ischemic contracture on both legs. 4. Russell traction was employed in eleven of the cases ranging from six to fourteen years of age. Angulation and distraction must be watched especially in the younger age group, although we encountered no serious complications which required subsequent treatment. 5. Hoke traction was employed in twelve of the cases ranging from six to eleven years of age. Although this form of treatment is not particularly popular, we are of the opinion that it is the treatment of choice over two years of age and, under six years of age and that between six and twelve years of age it may be optionally employed along with Russell traction. We found it. particularly useful and convenient in selected cases in which Russell traction could not be effectively employed. 6. In some of the complicated cases, open reduction and internal fixation, closed reduction with pin and plaster immobilization, or skeletal traction was employed.

Korean Journal of Rehabilitation Nursing 2003;6(1):14-25
PURPOSE: To investigate nutritional status of inpatients by using subjective. and objective evaluation methods and to find the relationship between them. METHOD: The subjects were 101 inpatients with medical health problems at a university hospital. Nutritional status was evaluated by the Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) and physical assessment including percentage of weight loss, serum albumin, hemogloin, and hematocrit. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, Kendall's tau. RESULTS: Grouping by the SGA, 61.4% were classified as severe malnutrition group. When applying the objective methods{physical assessment). 1.9~42.6% were diagnosed as malnutrition each item. The percentage of weight loss during previous 1-6month(r=.43~.54. P=.0001), serum albumin(r=-.26, P=.0003), hemoglobin of male(r=-.38, P=.0001), and hematocrit of male(r=-.34, P=.0001) were significantly correlated with SGA score. The coincidence rate of nutrition evaluation between the objective methods and SGA were 27.7 35.6%, 20.8%, 47.5%, 58.4% in percentage of weight loss, albumin, hemoglobin, and hematocrit. CONCLUSION: These findings showed a majority of inpatients were exposed to the risk of malnutrition. We recommend to evaluate inpatients' nutritional status periodically and to develop nursing intervention to solve their nutritional problems.

4.A Study of the Effect of Nicotinic acid and Its Substitutes on Cutaneous Blood Flow.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1989;27(1):17-22
The ability of nicotinic acid and its substitutes to increase cutaneous blood flow has been measured by laser Doppler flowmeter in 30 healthy human volunteers. We applied nicotinarnide, nicotinic acid ethyl ester, nicotinic acid methyl ester, hexyl nicozinate each in an acqeous solution at a concentration of 10 mM/liter for 10 minutes occlusion on the forearm. The change of blood flow was serially checked at 5 to 10 minutes intervals for one hour. The study results were as follows : l. The relative maximum cutaneous blood flow response was in following order nicotinic acid methyl ester(100%), nicotinic acid ethyl ester(98%), hexyl nicotinate (84%) and nicotinic acid(63%). However, there was no statistically significant difference(p>0.05) between each drug. There was statististically significant difference between nicotinamide and all other nicotinic acid substitutes(p<0.05). 2. The time required to reach maximum blood flow response was 6.7 minutes for hexyl nicotinste, 10 minutes for nicotinic acid ethyl ester, 12.5 minutes for nicotinic acid methyl ester and 20 minutes for nicotinic acid. However, there was statistically significant difference between hexyl nicotinate and nicotinic acid only(p<0.05). 3. Significant decrease of cutaneous blood flow was observed one hour after the removal of the patches in all drugs.

5.A Study of Patch Test with Cosmetic Related Antigens in Patients with Contact Dermatitis.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1984;22(2):187-190
Contact Dermatitis due to cosmetics is also common in Korea. as in other developed countries. However. detection of the causative antigens is in a difficult situation due to many reasons. We have routinely patch tested with Japanese cosmetic series patch test allergens, Types 17 and 18 in addition to Hollister standard battery and patients own cosmetics to 4Q cases of suspected cosmetic contact dermatitis who have visited our Environmental and Occupational Clinic during the past one year. The study result was as follows. Total 55% ositive reaction related to cosmetics was observed in 4p patch tested patients. 2 The most frequently observed antigens were hydroxycitronellal, benzyl saliylate and cinnamic alcohol.

Korean Journal of Gynecologic Oncology and Colposcopy 1995;6(3):157-165
The measurement of tumor cell proliferation is becoming inueasingly recognized in defining prognostic groups. Boliferatirg cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) imrnunolocalimtion can be used as an index of cell proliferation and rnay define the extent of deppature from norrmil gmwth control. PCNA is eonsidered to be maker of cell proliferation. The aim of this study was to evnlunte the expreeion of PCNA in epithelial ocarian cancer as well as the possible correlation with degree of differentiation, tumor etage and overall survival. The material consisted of 35 epithehal ovarian cancer. The PCNA labelling index (Ll) ranged from 7.5% to 92.5% with a median value of 46.7%. PCNA labelling index (LI) is 30% in grade 1, 63% in grade 2, and 100% in grade 3 in epithelial ovarian cancer(p>0.05). Also, a positive correlation was found between PCNA labelling index (LI) and clinical stage (P<0.05) The estimated 3 year survival in patients with a tumor LI below the median (low proliferative group) was higher than those with a tumor LI greater than the median(high proliferation group) (87.5% VS 50%, P<0.05).

Korean Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2000;43(1):109-112
Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a hereditary disorder characterized by renal cyst formation, hypertension, and end-stage renal disease. For many years, ADPKD was considered an adult disease. In fact, it may occur at any time in life including in utero. We experienced a case of ADPKD at 34 weeks of gestation. On ultrasound, both kidnies were enlarged and echogenic. Amniotic fluid index was normal. We discovered a family history of paternal origin. Sonographic findings of bilaterally enlarged and echogenic kidnies without oligohydroamniosis may suggest ADPKD. Renal ultrasound examination of parents is useful in the diagnosis of ADPKD.

10.A Case of Hemophilic Arthropathy due to A. H. G. Deficiency
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1970;5(3):115-119
One of the most important aspect of hemophilia is repeated bleeding into the joint. The frequency of such hemorrhages varies with the severity of the disease. In moderate or severe cases, repeated hemorrhages result in considerable impairment of joint structure and function: Contractures and gross deformity are frequent end result. This paper described a case of hemophilia A, 24-year-old male, who developed deformity of the shoulder, elbow, ankle and knee joint because of repeated hemoarthrosis. Author attempted to treat this patient by transfusion of fresh whole blood and traction, which resulted in some clinical improvement.
