1.The Relation between Interpersonal Attitude and Communication Competence of New Visiting Nurses in Community Health Center.
Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2014;23(2):115-122
PURPOSE: This study was to identify the relations of interpersonal attitude and communication competence of new community health nurses. METHODS: The research design was a correlational study. The data were collected from 136 visiting nurses using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using independent t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. RESULTS: The type of interpersonal attitude in subjects was I+U+ and the score of communication competence was 3.6. Among 15 sub-dimensions, the highest score was responsiveness and the lowest was assertiveness. There were no significant differences in communication competence by general characteristics. Factors influencing on communication competence in new visiting nurses were interpersonal attitude I+(I am OK) (beta=.34) and I-(I am not OK) (beta=-.28). CONCLUSION: Education program, stressing the self-awareness, is necessary to increase positive interpersonal attitude and communication competence for reemployment of community health nurses. Furthermore, in order to reinforce assertiveness, institutional support should be accompanied with the efforts of individual level.

2.Radiological Evaluation of Posterior Cruciate Ligament Injury
The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1989;24(4):1121-1127
The evaluation of posterior cruciate ligament injury of the knee should be objective. Then stress machine, Gonylaxometer, knee ligament arthrometer (K-T 1000) and Genucome were introduced recently, but they have many problems such as soft tissue error, expensiveness and low popularity. Authors modified the radiological assessment of anterior cruciate ligament injury, reported by Hooper(1986), and applied to the evaluation of posterior cruciate ligament injury. The patient was positioned supine with the one side of leg held on a support so that the knee was flexed approximately 45°to 60°. The thigh was unsupported and a weight(0.9 Kg to 4.5 Kg with increment of 0.9 Kg) was placed on the anterior leg (just distal to the patellar tendon) and lateral view had been taken in this stressed position. Same procedure was done on the other side and the posterior displacement of both knees were compaired. The differences of posterior displacement between both knees of 50 normal adults were studied and 9 cases of posterior cruciate ligament injury were studied, too. The following results were obtained. 1. The difference of posterior displacement could be measured objectively and it is useful for the diagnosis of posterior cruciate ligament injury and the objective evaluation after conservative or operative treatment of posterior cruciate ligament injury patient. 2. The differences of posterior displacement between both knees of 50 normal adults were ranged from 0 to 3 mm with a mean of from 0.88 ±0.87mm to 1.14 ±0.94mm. 3. The differences of posterior displacement between injured knee and normal knee of posterior cruciate ligament injury patient were more than 6mm in 9 patients. 4. The radiological method was inexpensive and easy to perform.

Journal of the Korean Geriatrics Society 2001;5(1):67-77
BACKGROUND: According as old aged people have an increased interest in early detection of disease and health promotion, old aged people who take health examinations are increased. So this study is aimed to survey common problems about geriatric health in community and their frequency by way of investigation on diagnosis in health examination data and to evaluate the effects of health risk factors on each disease patterns. METHODS: The medical records of the clients who have taken health examinations for the first time from March 1995 to February 2000 at a health examination center of a university hospital in Seoul were reviewed. The category and number of judged diagnosis, sociodemographic factors are compared and analyzed. RESULTS: The selected medical records accounted to 22,393. The study subjects consist of 11,544(51.6%) male. Mean age is 52.0+/-10.5 years(range 16~90). 65 years or more old aged people of them are 2,612(11.7%), the number of judged diagnosis per one old person is 4.84+/-2.22(range 0~9) and young people took less diagnosis is 35.7%, functional diagnosis is 7.9%. The common diagnoses are liver disease(7.07%), decreased physical strength(6.68%), hyperlipidemin(6.53%),obesity(5.90%), osteoporosis or postmenopausal syndrome(4.72%), need for immunization against viral hepatitis(4.69%), hypertension(4.20%) functional gastrointestinal disease(3.93%). The number of total diagnosis and organic diagnosis is larger in older age, no exercise, female, smoker, no-spouse, lower education(p<0.05). The number of other diagnosis is larger in no exercise, smoker, female, younger age(p<0.05). CONCLUSION: According to health examination, total diagnosis and organic diagnosis are more in old aged group than in young. Functioinal diagnosis and other diagnosis is less in old aged group than in young.

4.The action of Halothane and Isoflurane in Aortic Rings of Rabbit Pretreated with LNAME (L-nitrow arginine methyl ester) and MB (methylene blue).
Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 1997;33(1):6-14
BACKGROUND: The action of the volatile anesthetics on various organs in the body is not well known. Since Furchgott (1980) discovered endothelium derived relaxing factor (EDRF) from endothelium, many studies have been tried. Many investigators were studied about the relationship between the EDRF and the effect of the volatile anesthetics on blood vessels too. But the effect of volatile anesthetics and the site of action on the blood vessel were still controversial. In this study, we evaluated that the effect and the action site of halothane and isoflurane on isolated aortic rings of the rabbit. METHODS: Each of obtained thoracic aorta from rabbits (1.5~2.5 Kg) was divided into 3~5 mm sized rings, and a half of that were denuded. All of the aortic rings were preconstricted with phenylephrine 1.5 10-7 Mole in warm organ bath filled with modified Krebs' solution, and then LNAME (inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase, 3 10-4Mole) was administered to one group of aortic rings. MB (inhibitor of soluble guanylate cyclase, 2 10-5Mole) was administered to another one group and neither of LNAME nor MB was administered to the other group. And then isoflurane or halothane was administered (1~4%) to all of aortic rings. The polygraph recorded the changes of tension of aortic ring which was transmitted through the force transducer. RESULTS: It was proved that basal EDRF was released from endothelium by the fact that intact aortic rings were more constricted after LNAME or MB administration. The intact aortic rings were constricted in all concentration of isoflurane and both intact and denuded rings were relaxed in 4% concentration of halothane. CONCLUSION: It is concluded that isoflurane in all concentrations has an endothelium -mediated vasoconstriction and 4% halothane produced vascular relaxation directly independent of existence of the endothelium of vessel.

Korean Journal of Occupational Health Nursing 2013;22(1):47-56
PURPOSE: This study is to identify the factors that affect middle-aged workers' health promoting behaviors. METHODS: 214 middle-aged workers participated in surveys, and the data were collected from August to September 2012 and analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with PASW 18.0 program. RESULTS: It was found that among the factors, the degree of job stress (t=7.69, p<.001) and depression (t=6.23, p<.001) were significantly high for type D individuals, while non type D showed meaningful degree of self-related health status (t=-3.66, p<.001) and health promoting behaviors (t=-4.71, p<.001). The notable variable that affected the health promoting behaviors of the middle-aged workers was depression for both type D (beta=-.357, p= .029) and non type D (beta=-.325, p<.001) individuals, and this variable accounted for 24.1% and 18.2% respectively. CONCLUSION: The study revealed that the middle-aged workers showed high degree of job stress and depression that influenced on their health promoting behaviors. Thus, they are recommended to receive health management programs that offer treatment through consulting considering their individual personalities.

A case of myofibroblastoma of the breast in a 55-year-old man is described. Myofibroblastoma is a relatively recently recognized benign stromal tumor, and predominantly occurs in middle aged men. The pateint presented with a nontender firm mass in his right breast. Fine needle aspiration biopsy revealed bland looking stromal cell clusters without epithelial cells. Simple excision was done and the patient discharged uneventfully. The mass was well demarcated, lobulated and sligtly myxoid. Microscopically bipolar elongated spindle cell fascicles with interspersing broad collagen bands are so characteristic. Ultrastructurally the tumor cell show features of fibroblast as well as smooth muscle cell.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1986;20(2):229-234
A three year old girl with a left renal teratoid Wilms tumor is reported. The tumor was located both inside and outside the kidney parenchyme, to form a well encapsulated mass containing two lobulated solid and cystic masses. The tumor consists predominantly of otherwise typical Wilms tumor irregularly mixed with teratoid tissue elements such as intestinal tract, mucous glands with argentaffin cells, goblet cells and transitional epithelium. These heterologous elements were regarded as diverse epithelial differentiation of totipotent cells in certain nephrogenetic period, and this tumor was considered to be hest called "teratoid Wilms tumor".
