PURPOSE: This study was aimed to identify the effect of self-foot reflexology on the relief of premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea in high school girls. METHOD: Study subjects was 236 women residing in the community, teachers and nurses who were older than 45 were recruited. Data was collected with self administered questionnaires from July 1st to August 31st, 2003 and analysed using SPSS/WIN 10.0 with Xtest, t-test, and stepwise multiple logistic regression at a significant level of =.05. RESULT: The breast cancer screening rate was 57.2%, and repeat screening rate was 15.3%. With the multiple logistic regression analysis, factors associated with mammography screening were age and perceived barriers of action, and factors related to the repeat mammography screening were education level and other cancer screening experience. CONCLUSION: Based on the results, we recommend the development of an intervention program to decrease the perceived barrier of action, to regard mammography as an essential test in regular check-up, and to giveactive advertisement and education to the public to improve the rates of breast cancer screening and repeat screening.

PURPOSE: This study was done to develop a death education program for nursing students and evaluate the effects of the program. METHODS: The education program was developed based on ADDIE model. The death education program was developed on the base of educational needs, a comprehensive review of the literature and focus group interviews and then evaluated with 53 nursing students, 27 in the experimental and 26 in the control group. Measurement was done for the meaning of life using the tool by Choi et al (2005) for attitudes concerning death, the tool Thorson and Powell (1998) revised by Kim (2006) and for attitude to end-of-life patient care, the Attitudes toward Nursing Care of the Dying Scale by Frommelt (1991) translated by Cho and Kim (2005). RESULTS: The program consisted of five sessions: Understanding of death, Family bereavement care, Communication and End-of-life patient care, Professional role, and Ethics and legal issues There was a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest for the meaning of life in the experimental group compared to the control group. About 82% of students in the experimental group were satisfied with the program. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that this program can be used to educate nursing students.

Transrectal ultrasonography is the most effective imaging method of prostate and it is known as an useful mean to detect and evaluate prostatic cancer. We performed transrectal ultrasonography for 200 patients with prostatism, 101 of which were diagnosed subsequently pathologically by prostatic biopsy or operation. Of 27 patients of sonographically suspicious prostatic cancer 10 were confirmed pathologically as cancer, and thered were another 4 patients with prostatic cancer which were classified to benign disease sonographically. The sensitivity and specificity of transrectal ultrasonography in diagnosis of prostatic cancer were 71.4 and 80.5 %. respectively, but the positive predictive value only 37%. The results do not seem that transrectal ultrasonography is superior to digital rectal examination in diagnosis of prostatic cancer. In identifying extracapsular extension of prostatic cancer, transrectal ultrasonography is thought to be potentially valuable, but further experiences are necessary.

Recent improvements in gray scale ultrasonic imaging and the development of real time ultrasound made it useful in directing the diagnostic examination and in determining which patients should undergo further, more invasive diagnostic procedures. Ultrasound scanning is cheaper and quicker than computed tomography and angiography, is not invasive and causes little discomfort to the patient. No intravenous contrast medium is used so that reactions to iodine and the difficulty in obtaining venous puncture, frequently a problem in children, are circumvented. There is no ionizing radiation or problem with breath holding. So we made a brief review of the clinical experience and value of ultrasound of renal diseases.

PURPOSE: Increase in suicide rate for senior citizens which has become widespread in our society today. It is not a normal social phenomenon and is beyond the danger level. The contents of this study include Korean senior citizens' suicide related risk factors and warning signs, and the development of a simple Geriatric Suicide Risk Scale. METHODS: This study is Methodological Research to verify reliability and validity of the Geriatric Suicide Risk Scale according to the tool development process suggested by Devellis (2012). RESULTS: For predictive validity assessment, high suicide screening accuracy was showed with an Area under the ROC curve (AUC) of .93. For the optimal cutoff point of 11, sensitivity was 93.9%, and specificity, 75.7% which are excellence levels. Cross validity for assessment of generalization possibility showed the Area under the ROC curve (AUC) as .82 and in case of a cutoff point of 11, sensitivity was 73.7%, and specificity, 65.9%. CONCLUSION: When it comes to practical nursing, it is significant that the Korean Geriatric Suicide Risk Scale has high reliability and validity through adequate tool development and the tool assessment step to select degree of suicide risk of senior citizens. Also, it can be easily applied and does not take a long time to administer. Further, it can be used by health care personnel or the general public.
