1.MR imaging of spondylolisthesis.

We evaluated MR imaging of spondylolytic spondylolisthesis degenerative spondylolisthesis and retrolisthesis in 14, 9 and 20 patients respectively. Sagittal and axial spin echo and gradient echo images were obtained with 25-30cm FOV and 5mm/0.5mm thickness/gap by using spine surface coil. Sagittal images showed defects of pars interarticularis just inside of the pedicles of spines in all the cases of spondylolytic spondylolisthesis with relatively variable signal intensity. Displaced vertebrae were commonly observed at L5 (8/14) in spondylolytic spondylolisthesis, at L4 (5/9) in degenerative spondylolisthesis and at variable locations in retrolisthesis. The mean length of displacement of vertebrae in spondylolytic spondylolisthesis was about 7mm and less displacement was onserved in degenerative spondylolisthesis and retrolisthesis. Seven, four and six cases of pseudobulging of disk at displaced level were observed in cases of spondylolytic spondylolisthesis, degenerative spondylolisthesis and retrolisthesis respectively. Seven, five and 14 cases of true disk lesions were onserved in cases of spondylolytic spondylolisthesis, degenertive spondylolisthesis and retrolisthesis respectively. Grade II neural foraminal stenoses (obliteration of one half epidural fat of neural foramen) were commonly (8/14) seen in spondylolytic spondylolisthesis, however the other two types showed less severe neural foraminal stenosis. In conclusion, MR imaging is a highly accurate method for the diagnosis and evaluation of spondylolisthesis and associated lesions of spine and disks.

2.A Case of Trichorrhexis Nodosa.

We report a case of trichorrhexis nodosa in a 27-year-old male. Scanning electron microscopic findings reveals those of typical trichorrhexis nodosa nodal swelling of affected hair showed longitudinal fissures and fractures in the cortex. A paintbrush effect was noted at the site of fracture. Simple avoidance of trauma gave some regrowth of hairs.

3.Regenerative Medicine for Musculoskeletal Diseases

Regenerative medicine (RM) aims to replace or regenerate human cells, tissues, or organs to restore or establish the normal function. RM comprises cells, biomaterials for scaffolds, and growth factors. The cells play an important role in regenerative medicine. Biomaterials can form tissue and transmit biological activity signals and promote cell adhesion. The biological growth factor is a signal transmitter necessary to regenerate tissues and organs. Bioprinting as a powerful tool for building tissue and organ structures in the field of tissue engineering has attracted enormous attention as a fabrication methodology for producing 3-dimensional structures. Bioprinting technology will be needed to treat musculoskeletal diseases. This paper will provide information that can be used as a regenerative medicine treatment for musculoskeletal diseases. It will enable the regeneration of the musculoskeletal system consisting of bones, joints, muscles, and nerves.
4.Tinea Corporis Occurring in One ramily Caused by Trichophyton verrucosum.

We report a case of tinea corporis occurring in one family caused by Trichophyton verrucosum. Father, mother and a son in a family had well defined scaly erythematous patches on the forearm, cheek and postauricular area. Histopathologically fungal hyphae were found in the horny layer of the epidermis in PAS stained sections. In mycological study, charact,eristic feature of T. verrucosum were found. The possible source of the infections was the cattle that they raised in their house. After eight weeks administration of ketoconazole, the lesions were healed leaving slight brownish discoloration.

5.Factors Related to N-Terminal Pro-B-Type Natriuretic Peptide as a Biomarker for Heart Failure.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to examine the relationships between the N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels with the sociodemographic and clinical factors, self-care behaviors, and the physical symptom experiences in patients with heart failure. METHODS: This cross-sectional study utilized a convenience sample of adult outpatients and inpatients who attended a cardiology department in a tertiary hospital in Seoul, Korea. The data from 154 patients with heart failure were collected using a questionnaire, and their clinical data were extracted from their electronic medical records. RESULTS: Compared with the patients with high NT-proBNP levels, those with low NT-proBNP levels had significantly lower physical symptom experiences scores. Patients with low- and mid-NT-proBNP levels were more likely to be employed compared with those with high NT-proBNP levels. Patients with low NT-proBNP levels had higher left ventricular ejection fractions, and were less likely to have arrhythmias and comorbidities. CONCLUSION: The results from this study showed that patients with more severe heart failure had higher physical symptom experiences scores; hence, individualizing treatment approaches based on heart failure severity is necessary.

Purpose: To measure the absorbed doses of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), which is recently being more frequently used, and to compare them with those of panoramic radiography. Materials and Methods: To measure the absorbed doses of CBCT (PSR-9000N(TM), Asahi Roentgen Ind. Co., Japan), we placed TLD chips on the skin regions above the parotid and thyroid glands, and on the dorsum of tongue in a dental head phantom. We used two image acquisition modes of the Dental and Panoramic modes of CBCT, which differed in the field of view. Also, panoramic radiographs (Auto IIIN, Asahi Roentgen Ind. Co., Japan) were taken to compare with the absorbed doses of CBCT. Result: In the Dental mode of CBCT, the absorbed doses of the parotid gland, dorsum of tongue, and thyroid gland were 3.53, 3.13, and 0.36 mGy, respectively. In the Panoramic mode of CBCT, they were 9.57, 9.15, and 0.85 mGy, respectively. The panoramic mode showed higher absorbed doses than those of the Dental mode. In the panoramic radiography, the absorbed doses of the parotid gland, dorsum of tongue, and thyroid gland were 1.21, 1.19, and 0.16 mGy, respectively. And they were about 1/3 of the Dental mode and 1/9 of the Panoramic mode of CBCT. Conclusion: Absorbed doses of CBCT are higher than those of panoramic radiography, and dependent upon the field of view.

9.A Case of Clear Cell Acanthoma.

We report a case of clear cell acanthoma occurred in a 61 year old man. He developed a brownish bean sized nodule on the left chest 3 years ago. The skin lesion has slowly increased in size without any subjective symptoms. Histopathologic examination revealed proliferation of clear cells within a sharply demarcated area of the epidermis. The presence of numerous neutrophils throughout the epidermis were also noted.

10.Stener-Like Lesions in the Metacarpophalangeal Joint of the Fingers.

Three Stener-like lesions of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the fingers and a rupture of the first dorsal interosseous muscle mimicking the lesion in the index finger were observed. Two cases in the little fingers had a true Stener's lesion. In one case in the index finger, the ruptured ligament was retracted and located under the intact sagittal band, which was also observed by preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Rupture of the first dorsal interosseous muscle was misdiagnosed preoperatively as a Stener's lesion in the index finger by ultrasonography. MRI should be an essential differential diagnostic exam for collateral ligament ruptures of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the fingers.
