AIM: To evaluate acrylic resin bone cement in combination with percutaneous kyphoplasty to treat spinal metastatic tumor and reconstruct spinal stability. METHODS: Thirty-three cases with spinal metastatic tumor underwent percutaneous kyphoplasty in the Department of Spinal Surgery, Shenzhen People's Hospital between October 2006 and January 2008. All affected spines were complicated by destruction of bone or compression fracture. Under monitoring by G-arm X-ray machine, bilateral pedicle puncture was performed, followed by balloon expanding and acrylic resin bone cement injection in thoracic vertebra (3.6 mL) and lumbar vertebra (4.8 mL). All patients were followed up for 6 months to evaluate biocompatibility, vertebral height changes, pain degree pre-and post-surgery and movement ability. RESULTS: Of 49 affected vertebras in 33 cases, 43 were one-off successful, and 5 cases died of tumor metabasis. Finally, 43 vertebras were included in final analysis. The paired t-test showed the post-surgery anterior and posterior vertebral heights were significantly higher than pre-surgery [(2.6?0.6) cm, (2.2?0.6) cm; (2.9?0.7) cm, (2.6?0.6) cm; P

Objective:To study the clinical efficacy of 3D total hip arthroplasty in elderly patients with acetabular fracture. Methods:A total of 43 patients with non-obsolete acetabular fractures admitted to Xining First People's Hospital from May 2016 to December 2018 were randomly divided into the control group (22 cases) and the observation group (21 cases) for a perspective study. The control group received routine surgery and the observation group was treated with total hip arthroplasty combined with 3D printing. The patient's operation time, intraoperative blood loss, and hospitalization time were recorded. The hip function was assessed by Harris Hip Scale (HHS) after 6 months of follow-up. The patient's quality of life was assessed using the short form 36 item health survey questionnaire (SF-36) before and 6 months after surgery. The complications of the patients during operation and follow-up were recorded. Results:The operation time, hospital stay and intraoperative blood loss were significantly lower in the observation group than those in the control group ( P<0.05). At 6 months after operation, the hip joint function of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group ( P<0.05); the quality of life scores were significantly higher than the control group ( P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups ( P<0.05). Conclusions:3D printed total hip arthroplasty can effectively improve the operation and hip function of elderly patients with non-obsolete acetabular fracture and the quality of life of patients without increasing adverse reactions.

As a receptor tyrosine kinase, mesenchymal to epithelial transition factor (MET) is the membrane receptor for hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), which is related with a series of biological functions, such as cell proliferation, progression, apoptosis, metastasis and morphological changes. As research continues, MET is amplified or overexpressed in a wide range of human cancers and closely related with worse prognosis. Therefore, various MET inhibitors are currently being developed as potential treatments for a variety of cancers. Based on our current study we summarize the existing knowledge on structure, biological function and its inhibitors of MET and provide a data phase for future researchers.

Tigecycline is a novel glycylcycline antibacterial drug, which shows both antibiotic function and anti-tumor activity. This review summarizes the single and combined use of tigecycline for tumor treatment and the underpinning mechanisms. As an inhibitor for mitochondrial DNA translation, tigecycline affects the proliferation, migration, and invasion of tumor cells mainly through inhibiting mitochondrial protein synthesis and inducing mitochondrial dysfunction. Although the effect of tigecycline monotherapy is controversial, the efficacy of combined use of tigecycline is satisfactory. Therefore, it is important to explore the molecular mechanisms underpinning the anti-tumor activity of tigecycline, with the aim to use it as a cheap and effective new anti-tumor drug.

Integrins are cell adhesion receptors, which consists of several transmembrane glycoproteins. They are widely distributed on the cell surface and involved in signal transduction pathways. As a heterodimer, each integrin is composed of one α subunit and one β subunit. Integrins are mainly expressed on lepidopteran hemocytes and involved in cell immune response. The full-length cDNA sequence of BmIntegrin β2 was obtained by PCR and RACE, including 2 434 bp. BmIntegrin β2 was predicted to be a transmembrane protein. The BmIntegrin β2 expression profile was detected by qRT-PCR at L4D3 or L5D3 larval stage, and it was highly expressed in hemocyte and hematopoietic organ. Anti-BmIntegrin β2 polyclonal antibody was generated following prokaryotic expression, protein purification and animal immunization, which is highly specific and effective for recognizing BmIntegrin β2 protein through Western blotting. The results of plasmatocytes adhesion experiment showed that BmIntegrin β2 plays an important role on the adhesion and spreading of plasmatocytes to foreign surfaces. This study provides a foundation for further research of the biological function of BmIntegrin β2 gene.
