1.Roles and mechanisms of β-catenin in cerebral ischemia
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2015;23(11):870-876
β-Catenin is an adhesion molecule that mediates intercellular adhesion. It can be activated by the classical Wnt signaling pathway and promote cell survival.During cerebral ischemia, the stability of β-catenin decreases and the phosphorylated β-catenin level increases.Up-regulation of β-catenin can inhibit the schemia-induced neuronal apoptosis, promote neurogenesis, maintain the stability of blood-brain-barrier,and protect against cerebral injury.
3.Research advance in Clostridium difficile vaccine
Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2014;(6):430-433
The risk factors of Clostridium difficile infections increased in recent years , such as the underlying disease, hospitalization duration, age, the use of antibiotics, the use of proton pump inhibitors and so on.The rate of Clostridium difficile infection and recurrence are still high despite the appear of new antibiotics such as rifaximin, nitazoxanide, tigecycline, ramoplanin, fidaxomicin, and non-antimicrobial such as drugs toxin neutralizer chamber , biological therapeutic agents , fecal transplantation , systemic antibody method , intravenous immunoglobulin and so on.The vaccine is the most ideal way of prevention and treatment of Clostridium difficile infection. The research in Clostridium difficile vaccine lasted for nearly 20 years.Except the monoclonal antibody vaccine and toxoid vaccine against toxin A and toxin B have achieved better results in the human , some recombinant vaccines against the toxin receptor and the key pathogenic factor of Clostridium difficile also achieved good effect in animal.
4.Changes of visual quality after femtosecond laser combined with LASIK
International Eye Science 2016;16(11):2095-2098
AIM: To compare the change of visual quality of femtosecond-laser in situ keratomileusis ( FS-LASIK) and laser in situ keratomileusis ( LASIK) for myopia.
METHODS: A retrospective case series. A total of 89 cases 178 eyes were chosen from Jan. 2014 to Dec. 2015. There were 46 cases (92 eyes) in FS-LASIK and 43 cases 86 eyes in LASIK. The visual acuity, refraction state, subjective visual quality score, high order aberration were measured at 6mo after surgery.
RESULTS: All patients underwent operation smoothly, and no complication was observed during and after surgery; there was no statistically significant difference between two groups at visual acuity (P>0. 05). Postoperative diopter compared with preoperative expectations diopter difference is statistically significant between two groups (P<0. 05). Subjective visual quality score was compared statistically significant postoperative 6mo in two groups(P<0. 05). Six months after surgery in the two groups of patients with corneal aberration RMS values, spherical aberration and coma compared with preoperative increases, more than the expansion of the size of the FS-LASIK group low mechanical plate layer knife group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Femtosecond laser corneal flap is more accurate and reliable and the discrete degree is smaller. It can make more thin corneal flap. Femtosecond laser disc of LASIK surgery compare with traditional mechanical plate layer knife following LASIK has better visual quality.

Neuroglobin (Ngb) is an oxygen-carrying globin that specifically expresses in brain tissue. It is involved in energy metabolism, mitochondrial function,as well as cell survival and proliferation of signaling pathway regulation.Under physiological conditions,Ngb presents as a form of ferrous deoxy hexacoordination, which has stronger oxygen affinity.During ischemia and hypoxia, the expression of Ngb is upregulated in brain tissue and interacts through a variety of proteins of its downstream, and plays a protective role for the damaged brain tissue.

Coagulopathy is very common in patients in intensive care unit (ICU) and often indicates organ dysfunction or underlying diseases. The application of traditional methods assessing the patients' coagulation status in ICU is limited because they can not reflect the whole process of coagulation.Thromboelastography (TEG),a point-of-care (POC) assay of coagulation, fibrinolysis and platelet function, developed in recent years has been widely used in organ transplant and cardiovascular surgery and so on.However, there is no standard for the use of TEG in ICU.The development and application of TEG in sepsis, multiple trauma, guiding blood transfusion, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO),and anticoagulation monitoring were addressed in this review, and its value and application prospect in ICU were analyzed.

Objective To observe the effects of DanShen on the growth of hepatocellular carcinoma in malignant obstructive jaundice in the SD rat model. Methods The model was established by vaccination of transplanting tumour in the porta hepatis with the walker-256 hepatocarcine line, and then obstruction was caused by the infiltration and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma. ② The SD rats were divided into four groups: the rats treated by 0.9% NS (n=12), the rats treated by Inosine + Vitamin C (n=20), the rats treated by DanShen (n=20) and the rats treated by 5-FU(n=20). ③ The liver function, morphological changes and the expression of PCNA VEGF and ICAM-1 in carcinoma and peri-carcinoma tissues, adjacent lobe (left-internal lobe) as well as lung tissues were observed after four experimental groups were successively treated by four medicines. ④ Statistical analysis was done to the experimental results. Results ① The growth of rats treated by DanShen injection showed that liver injury caused by malignant obstructive jaundice was significantly relieved compared with liver function and pathological morphological changes in other groups(P0.05); ③ The expression of PCNA VEGF and ICAM-1 in carcinoma, peri-carcinoma adjacent lobe (left-internal lobe) tissues as well as lung tissues were significantly downgraded in groups treated by DanShen injection compared with those in groups treated with 0.9%NS and Inosine combined with Vitamine C (P0.05). Conclusion DanShen injection not only has protective effects on liver injury caused by obstructive jaundice, but the medicine can inhibit the proliferation and growth of hepatocarcinoma, interfere with the vascularization of tumors, and prevent recurrence and metastasis of hepatocarcinoma.
9. Pharmacokinetic study of total glucosides of paeony in rats with acute liver injury and normal rats
Chinese Pharmaceutical Journal 2012;47(7):534-538
OBJECTIVE: To compare the pharmacokinetics of total glucosides of paeony (TGP) in rats with acute liver injury and normal rats, thus to provide evidence for determining dosage regimen in clinic. METHODS: Acute liver injury rat model was established by single CCl4 intraperitoneal injection. Three dosages of TGP were orally administered to normal and model rats. The concentrations of Pae and Alb in plasma at different time after dosing were determined with HPLC method. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated based on mean plasma concentration-time curves of Pae and Alb. RESULTS: In model rat group, the t1/2 of Pae and Alb at high, medium, and low dosage (0.047, 0.141, 0.282 g · mL-1) were 5.02, 4.52, 4.91 h and 5.22, 5.04, 5.05 h, respectively. The ρmax of Pae and Alb of TGP at different dosages were 22.54, 14.52, 5.49 μg · mL-1, and 9.02, 5.04, 2.34 μg · mL-1, respectively. The AUC0-t of Pae and Alb of TGP at different dosages were (146.55 ± 7.52), (84.14 ± 7.84), (31.62 ± 2.97) μg · h · mL-1, and (56.56 ±8.70), (32.18 ± 3.49), (13.48 ±1.66) μg · h · mL-1, respectively. The tmax of paeoniflorin(Pae) and albiflorin(Alb) of TGP at different dosages were both 2 h. In rats of normal group, the t1/2 of Pae and Alb of TGP at different dosages respectively were 3.95, 3.69, 3.95 h, and 3.74, 3.98, 3.79 h, respectively. The ρmax were 19.16, 11.60, 4.46 μg · mL-1, and 7.16, 4.00, 1.93 μg · mL-1, respectively. The AUC0-t were (116.26.6 ± 19.99), (67.74 ± 12.79), (25.01 ±2.62) μg · h · mL-1, and (45.03 ±5.84), (27.26 ±3.57), (10.59 ± 1.86) μg · h · mL-1, respectively. The tmax were both 2.5 h. CONCLUSION: Compared with normal group, the ρmax and AUC0-t of TGP in model group significantly increased, tmax decreased, and t1/2 prolonged; tmax and t1/2 had no difference among three dosages, and ρmax. and AUC0-t had correlation with dosage.
