Clocortolone pivalate (Purantix') is a new dihalogenated corticosteroid for topical use, posessing powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-pruriginous, anti-allergic, anti-exudative and anti-proliferative activity. We are clinical trial to evaluate its efficacy and tolerance when used at a concentration of 0.1% in an oil-in-water base, in several dermatoses normally responsive to topical corticosteroids. In a study of 30 cases, Purantix' was shown to be highly effective in the treatment of various forms of eczema and dermatitis. It was also shown to be highly effective in most cases of atopic dermatitis, and outstanding benefit was obtained in the relief of pruritus in all conditions and highly significant for erythema, weeping, scaling and lichenification. Among these 30 cases, we observed excellent effects in 13 pts(48.3%), good effects in 11 pts (36.6%) and fair effects in 5 pts(16.6%). Namely among these 30 pts, 24 pts(80%) revealed excellent to good therapeutic effects on their skin conditions with Purantix'. No untoward side effect was noted in all subjects treated with Purantix'.

This study was attempted to know that the interactions of various fungi, and methionine and MgSO4 introduced as the substrate of culture media for fungi were affected to produce aflatoxins by Asp. flavus. 5 different fungi were isolated from the fermented soybean mash and were cultured in Chemically Defined medium (C.D. media) and soybean mash at 25 degrees for 10 days. (1) It was confirmed that Asp. flavus produced aflatoxins in the C.D. medium and soybean mash, but that Asp. niger, Asp. oryzae, Asp. awamori and Asp. terreus did not produced them respectively. (2) Asp. flavus cultured with Asp. niger did not produce aflatoxins in C.D. medium, but produced in soybean mash, in other hand, Asp. flavus with other fungi except Asp. niger produced aflatoxins in C.D. medium and soybean mash. (3) The growth of fungi were more prosperous in the separate culture than in the mixed culture. (4) In the C.D. medium added 20% of cultured medium of Asp. niger, Asp. flavus did not produce aflatoxins but other cultured medium did not prohibit the production of aflatoxins by Asp. flavus. (5) On the contrary, MgSO4 increasing the productivity of aflatoxins by Asp. flavus in the C.D. medium methionine known as one of precurser of aflatoxins did not affected the increasing productivity with significance.

Aplasia cutis congenita is a rare disorder characterized by localized or generalized absence of skin at birth. The various hypothesis and classification are proposed. Type V in Frieden's classification, which is associated with fetus papyraceus or placental infarcts, occurs as a large cutaneous defect on the trunk and extremities. We experienced the patient had skin defect affecting the lower abdomen symmetrically, with no family history of the any disorders or chromosomal anomalies and associated anomalies. A twin fetus was died in utero. We report a case of aplasia cutis congenita associated with fetus papyraceus with the review of the associated literatures.

Heterotopic brain tissue is defined as displaced neuroglial tissue that has no connection with the central nervous system. As there is no communication with underlying structures, serious anomalies rarely occur. A 6-year-old Korean male presented an erythematous, non tender nodule measuring 1.5X1.5X0.5cm on right parietal scalp since birth. The lesion was covered with thickened alopetic skin. There was no neurologic defect. The mass was not connected with intracranial structures on a magnetic resonance imaging.

Jellyfish dermatitis was characterized by purpuric papules or tiny vesicles arranged linearly with a color ranging from pink to red to brown. A 24-year-old woman presented with multiple whiplash-like erythematous lesions of 5-hours duration on both legs after contact with a jellyfish at a Korean seashore.

Atrophia maculosa varioliformis cutis (AMVC) is a type of idiopathic noninflammatory macular atrophy that occurs in young individuals. It is clinically characterized by shallow, sharply demaracated depressions of various shapes. Considering that atrophia maculosa varioliformis cutis can be mistaken as scarring and artifact dermatitis, it is important for physicians to distinguish this condition and to diagnose it correctly.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to measure the effects of a school safety education program based on the PRECEDE-PROCEED model for upper grade elementary students. METHODS: One hundred ten 6th-grade students sampled from an elementary school in D City were divided into the education group (n=55) and the non-education group (n=55). School safety education was provided to the education group for 8 weeks and a questionnaire survey about safety knowledge, safety practice and the frequency of safety negligence was carried out before and after the education from March 2 to July 13, 2010. RESULTS: After the application of the safety education program, the education group got a higher safety knowledge score than the non-education group (p<.001). Both the education and non-education groups showed a significantly increased safety practice score (p<.01). In the comparison of safety negligence, the education group showed lower frequency (p<.01). In addition, according to the results of ANCOVA and t-test, the school safety education program influenced safety knowledge significantly (p<.001). CONCLUSION: This result shows that a school safety education program based on PRECEDE-PROCEED can improve safety knowledge. Further studies will be required to develop continuous and systematic safety education programs.
