The emergence of research about the biological effects of electromagnetic field (EMF) have growing concern among researchers. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects on the brain of rats periodically exposed to 0.1 mT EMF. Total 24 adult male Sprague Dawley rats were subdivided randomly to 4 groups: 2 control groups (C1 6 hours: 6 h/ day for 5 days; C2 20 hours: 20 h/day for 5 days) and 2 treatment groups which exposed to 0.1 mT EMF (T1 6 hours: 6 h/day for 5 days; T2 20 hours: 20 h/day for 5 days). A significant decrease in the pyramidal cell number was higher as the exposure duration to EMF was extended (T1, p<0.05; T2, p<0.001). The total numbers of pyramidal cells for T1 was 15.18 % lower than of the total found in C1; and in concurring to the pattern, the number of pyramidal cells in T2 was 33.54 % lower than the total in C2. Similarly, there was a significant decrease of the Purkinje cell number as the duration exposure to EMF, extended (T1, p<0.05; T2, p<0.001). The total numbers of Purkinje cells for T1 was 11.20 % lower than C1, in T2 was 16.19 % lower than in C2. There were significant differences between the thickness of granular layer and molecular layer in the control groups and treatment groups. We also report a significant difference in the levels of norepinephrine in T2, 10.71 % higher than C2. Cumulatively, these results suggested that exposure to EMF can exert negative effect on rats brains.

OBJECTIVE: To improve the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) quality of medical devices, improve the efficiency of EMC testing, and promote the speed of market approval. METHODS: The unqualified cases of EMC test items of medical devices in recent years were statistically analyzed, and the reasons of low EMC quality of medical devices were analyzed from the perspective of test. RESULTS: Based on the analysis of the reasons, the suggestions were given from the perspectives of medical device manufacturers and testing organizations. CONCLUSIONS In order to ensure the quality of EMC of medical devices, medical device manufacturers, regulatory authorities and inspection and testing institutions should strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of medical device electromagnetic compatibility, to ensure the safety of products work together to promote the development of the medical device industry healthily and orderly.

In the electromagnetic compatibility standards of active implantable medical devices such as ISO 14117,radiated immunity test above 450 MHz frequency is recommended to be carried out in the electromagnetic shielding room.However,different test locations and the shape/size of the shielding room may lead to very different electromagnetic field distribution in the radiation exposure area of the sample,thus affecting the consistency of the test.With the model built by COMSOL software,this paper analyzes the impact of different parameters,such as size of the room and position of torso simulator on the distribution of field intensity,and reaches results about the distribution of field intensity on the torso simulator area under tow sizes of shielding rooms and two typical test positions.The results show that the experimental consistency of the electric field intensity on the surface directly below the center of the antenna is not good enough,which may affect the repeatability of the test.

The paper is focused on a kind of portable monitor that is widely used in military hospitals. In order to study the electromagnetic radiation immunity of the monitor, the experiments of electromagnetic radiation caused by radio frequency continuous wave in reverberation chamber and by ultra wide band (UWB) electromagnetic pulse have been done. The study results show that UWB electromagnetic pulse interferes observably the operating state of the monitor. It should be paid high attention to take protective measures. The monitor tested has some electromagnetic immunity ability for radio frequency continuous wave radiation. The frequent abnormal phenomena are baseline drift and waveform distortion. The electromagnetic sensitivity of the monitor is related to the frequency of interference source. The monitor tested is most sensitive to the frequency of 390 MHz.

Electromagnetic tracking is a method to track the position and space attitude of objects utilizing electromagnetic field. In this paper, the main methods during the development of Electromagnetic tracking are summarized and classified according to the magnetic field generation method, the number of magnetic sources and sensors used, the configuration and geometry of them. Tracking algorithm and calibration methods are also discussed. The critical issues during the development of electromagnetic tracking are analyzed, with the hope of helping the further research and application of electromagnetic tracking.
