4.Eyelid Shape of the Chosun Dynasty: Analysis of 101 Portraits.
Journal of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery 2003;9(1):13-16
The aim of this study is to elucidate the morphology and preference of the eyelid shape of the Chosun dynasty. One hundred and one portraits of Chosun dynasty were analyzed. Portraits of early(1392-1550), mid(1551-1700), and late (1701-1910) Chosun dynasty were 26, 17 and 58 respectively. The most of the portraits were men of noble birth(86). Others were the portraits of the Kings(4) and Monks(4), Women(4) and patriots(4).The double fold were observed in 20%, among them 65% were outfold. Epicanthal fold were present in 16% Thirty-one% had hooding of the upper eyelid. Sixty nine% had Wrinkles of the lower eyelids. Sixty three had baggy lower eyelid and lower lid ectropion were observed in 6% and 1% respectively. According to the Korean aphorism of the portrait drawing of Chosun dynasty "If one hair is different, the portrait is another man's", the portraits were drawn like a photograph. In this aspect our attempt to light up the eyelid shape of several hundreds years ago when photographs were not available have validity.

Korean Leprosy Bulletin 2008;41(1):47-53
The imbalance between paralyzed orbicularis oculi and normally functioning its antagonists such as the levator of the upper lid and the capsulopalpebral fascia of the lower lid in patients with leprosy causes ectropion, eyelid retraction and lagophthalmos. There are a lot of surgical methods to manage the ectropion and retraction of the lower lid including lateral canthoplasty, lateral canthopexy, spacer graft, canthal sling, medial tarsorraphy as well as temporal fascia transfer. In this study, we applied the lateral tarsal strip combined with Kuhnt- Szymanowski procedure to thirty-two patients with paralytic ectropion and this method was proven to be very effective in correcting the abnormal conditions.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1968;9(4):33-36
The mucoceles are most common cause of proptosis, which is occasionally difficult in evalultion of etiology, and it rarely forms fistula. The mucoce]es involving orbit has been not uncommonly reported in the literature. Recently we experienced three cases of mucoceles Involving orbit. Two cases of it form fistula with cicatrical ectropion of upper eye lid. One case has only proptosis toward down and outside. They were surgically treated without complication, therefore, we report here three cases of mucocele with literature.

7.A supplemental treatment for the corneal ulcer or the other corneal diseases.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1964;5(2):45-46
This is to emphasize the important role of surgical consideration of the epiblepharop or ectropion as the supplemental method, in adequate treatment of the corneal involvement especially for the corneal ulcer. The author has felt that the surgical correction of the intumed or intuming tendency of the margin of the lower-lid has been much more effective to cure the corneal ulcers which prevalently seen in lower portion of the cornea. This is confirmed through his 4D years clinical experiences.

8.Clinical Experience of Lazy-T Operation.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1991;32(7):509-513
Five Lazy-T procedures for medial ectropion of the lower lid were performed in 4 patients(3 males, 1 female). Of these 5 procedures, one was for involutional ectropion and 4 were for cicatrical ectropion which occurred after lid surgery or were due to facial xerosis. Ages ranged from 55 to 68 years. After the follow-up period of 8 to 29 months, all cases showed marked improvement of tearing, ocular injection, and discharge without any recurrence or overcorrection.

9.Frontalis Suspension for Blepharoptosis using Palmaris Longus Tendon.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1988;29(3):393-399
The authors performed frontalis suspension using palmaris longus tendon in 3 patients, 2 with congenital blepharoptosis and 1 with acquired blepharoptosis. Good results without any complication as undercorrection, overcorrection, irregular lid magin, ectropion were obtained for 5 to 11 months of follow up check.
