Laser surgery and medicine were considered as one of the topic of mordern medical technologies and has been widely applied in the various medical fields. We have been using CO2 laser in maxillofacial surgery for 506 patients at Khanh Hoa provincial general hospital, since Feb 1994. Result: good: 93.08%, medium: 5.33%. Poor: 1.58%.

2.Investigation on defective children and some measures for intervention in Thua Thien- Hue province

An investigation aimed to evaluate the rate of defective children, classify the defects and implement the operations and rehabilitation for 55162 children with ages of 0-15 in Thõa Thiªn HuÕ province during 1998-2001. The results have shown that the rate of defective children was about 4%. Of which 37.3% received operation with good results, and 28.6% received the rehabilitation in the centers, many children returned to normal life. Some of them equipped the tools, and supported the money for early integrating in the community

3.Children with malformation and some interventions at Thua Thien Hue province: a survey
Journal of Practical Medicine 2002;435(11):85-87
The study was carried out at Thua Thien Hue between 1998 and 2001 and involved 55,162 children between 0 to 15 years old. The children with malformation were examined and identified the malformation by ICD 10. It was found that about 4% of participated children have malformation, in which 37.3% have undergone corrective operation, 28.6% have received rehabilitation in centers or community. Some children have been supported with devices or finance so they can integrate to their community.

4.The use of DPMA for women of reproductive age in Phu Vang District, Thua Thien – Hue Province

From 2000 to 2002 in Phu vang District, Thua Thien – Hue Province, 203 subjects had been given contraceptive infunctions in 99.6% subjects, after 2 years of use, high efficacy is reached. At the age of 25-44, with various occupations, most contraceptive injections are used. Side effects are menorrhagia (40%), but most common with good counsel, the use will be accepted continuing 79.6% clients, 138 cases get the weight increased by 3 kg after 2 years

5.The relation between lung function change and clinical symptoms of asthma in children

Studying on measurement of lung function and comparing the clinical symptoms with lung function change was carried out in 31 children from 7 to 15 years of age with asthma. Results: All of lung function indicators in the exacerbations of asthma children were decreased, such as FVC% and FEV1% < 80% compared with predicted, PEF and FEV1/ FVC% < 75%. There was relation between clinical symptoms with lung function. The more severe clinical signs were the more decreased indicators of measured lung function

6.Complication and treatment 185 patients with severe hypertension at the Cardiovascular Department, Viet Tiep Hai Phong Hospital in 2004

185 patients with severe hypertension were treated at the Cardiovascular Department, Viet Tiep Hai Phong Hospital in 2004. Results: patients with severe hypertension accounted for 20.30% of admitted hypertension patients. The mean age was 63.44± 13.64. Female is more than male. 18.33% the patients didn’t know that they suffered from hypertension, only 26.49% patients had regular treatment, specially 55.73% patients discontinued treatment. Heart disease was the most common complication, with high rate 37.85%. 16.21% patients had myocardial ischemia. 25.95% patients had arrhythmia. 93.52% patients were treated by triple-drug or fourth-drug therapy after admission, the patients’ blood pressure decreased after one hour follow up. The mortality was low (1.62%). There were no treatment sequelae

7.Relationship between clinical symptoms and arterial blood gas in children with asthma

Studying on arterial blood gas of 50 children with acute asthma and comparing with clinical symptoms showed that there was closely relation between symptoms such as cyanosis, fast breathing, severe breathless, talks in word or phrases with pH, PaCO2, PaO2, SaO2 and HCO3. The stimulations which related closely with hypooxygenemia were PaO2, SaO2 and pH. Tugging respiratory muscle related to changing pH in blood. There was not relation between blood gas indicators and signs such as rapid pulse and wheeze

8.Practice of commune health workers of Chuong My Ha Tay Health Center in treatment of acute respiratory tract infection

Random study on 56 children with acute respiratory tract infection who were treated at 11 commune health stations of Chuong My, Ha Tay between 5/2003 and 6/2003 showed that the health workers didn’t examine all the danger signs as therapy demands. There were 80% children assessed for stopping feeding well, 76.7% children assessed for convulsion, 83.3% children assessed for stridor in calm, 98% children assessed for lethargic, 44.6% children assessed for severe malnutrition. There were 91% children assessed for fast breathing and 83.9% children assessed for chest indrawing. There are 98.2% children with acute respiratory tract infection were classified appropriated with therapy by health workers, 83.9% children were managed correctly. However, heath workers still overused antibiotics for cases with acute respiratory tract infection (31.5%). Health workers paid more attention to guide mothers how to care children at home

9.Reseach on status health & disease of labour in some Textile – Garment Companies - Vietnam

The statistics from 1996 workers who directly working in 3 Textile - Garment Companies in Ho Chi Minh city (Phong Phu Textile Company, Southeast Company, Thanh Cong Textile - Garment Company). Results: the rate of male workers was higher of Textile branch. Almost workers’ health was classified as II & II (70.44%) types, male workers with health type I was more than female workers. The percentage of dental disease was highest (26.79%), then otorhinolaryngologic diseases (25.77%), gynecological disease (12.2%), eye disease, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, dermatosis etc… Bronchial - respiratory diseases accounted for only 0.72% but the most common was professional disease.

10.Management of children with acute respiratory infection (ARI) at health station of Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen province

Study on 103 records of children, under 5 years old with acute respiratory infection (ARI) admited to the Khoai Chau district health center of Hung Yen province, on the May 2001. The results: the rate of ARI classifications and diagnose following guidelines of WHO were 59.2% (low rate). Of those, the rate of children with pneumonia were classified following WHO guidelines to be 71%, no pneumonia to be 68.6%, severe pneumonia to be 20%. The rate of antibiotic treatment following WHO regimen were very low (6.8%). Overuse of antibiotics were very popular. Benzyl penicillin plus gentamicine were used not only for single pneumonia but also sore throat
