The free, full thickness skin graft urethroplasty has grown in popularity and row ranks among the best of corrective procedures for urethral stricture. This procedures was initially described by Presman and Greenfield in 1953. Herein we present a case of full thickness tube graft urethroplasty in 29-year-old male patient with anterior urethral stricture.

Renal hypoplasia is a relatively rare congenital disease. We report two cases of unilateral renal hyperplasia with review of literature.
Hyperplasia

The proliferative vitreoretinopathy was a complication followed by operation of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. It was the mot, comon cause of a failure of retinal detachment surgery. It was characterized by the growth of cellular fibrous membrance in detached both retinal side and vitreous and also developed by giant retinal dialysis, posterior segmental trauma, excessive cryotherapy, endophthalmitis, retianl vascular disease. In order to prevent and treat of proliferative vitreoretinopathy, various methods of operation and drugs have been researched. We executed the experiment using the rabbit to observe the effect of retinoic acid that is known by inhibition of migration and proliferation of retinal pigment epithelial cell and fibroblast in vitro. With 121 eyes of rabbit, we induced the proliferative vitreoretinopathy by injecting of human retinal pigment epithelial cell, human fibroblast, and rabbit fibroblast into eyeball of rabbits. The extent of proliferative vitreoretinopathy was compaired by injecting those cells with the group that was injected by retinoic acid and control. The result was that in those cell groups, the extent of proliferative vitreoretinopathy was significantly higher in the rabbit fibroblast group than the other two groups(P<0.05). And in the groups that were injected retinoic acid, when subconjuctivaly injected(0.3mg/0.3ml), proliferative vitreoretinopathy was effectively suppressed and when intravitrealy injected (0.05mg/0.1ml), vitreoretinopathy was more increased than the control group. This result was probably caused by high concentration of retinoic acid in vitreous and further evaluation with various concentration of retinoic acid is needed. In conclusion, we recommend a rabbit fibroblast and subconjunctival injection of retinoic acid for the study on the suppressive effect of proliferative vitreoretinopathy.

Statistical observation was made on in-patients in Department of Urology, Maryknoll Hospital, Busan, Korea, during the period from July 1, 1976 to December 31, 1979.

The effects of oral premedication with diazepam and atropine were evaluated. We made three kinds of syrup which were composed of diazepam 0.3mg/0.5cc, diazepam 0.3 mg mixed with atropine 0.001 mg in 0.5cc and diazepam 0.3mg mixed with atropine 0.03mg in 0.5cc, respectively. The 1st was administered to Group l (n=21), the second to group ll (n=21) and the last to group lll (n= 24) one and half to two hours before induction of anesthesia. Each child received 0.5 cc/kg. On arrival at pediatric operating room, anxiety levels, vital signs, antisalivatory effect and side effects were checked. The attitude of children was evaluated just before induction of anesthesia. In group land lll, slight elevation of diastolic blood pressure was noticed. The satisfaotory levels, checked by anxiety level O, were 86% in group l, 90% in group ll and 79% in group lll. The altitudes in the operating rooms just before induction of anesthesia were satisfactory and cooperative in 77 %, 81%, and 87% of patients in group l, ll and lll, respectively. Antisalivatory effect was not good in group l, but satisfactory in 82% and 75% of cases in group ll and lll. But side effect was present in 25% of cases in group ll and lll, in spite of 10% in group l. So we can conclude that preoperative oral diazepam in a dose of 0.3mg/0.5cc/kg is very good for the reduction of anxiety and the additiopn of atropine may increase the incidence of side effects. Threefore we recommend parentreral belladonna alkaloids just before induction instead of preoperative oral medication.

STUDY DESIGN: A case report. OBJECTIVE: We present a rare case of acute spinal cord infarction and usefulness of diffusion weighted MR imaging. SUMMARY OF LITERATURE REVIEW: T1-weighted and T2-weighted images are often normal in a patient with acute spinal cord infarction. MATERIAL AND METHODS: An 82-year-old presented with acute onset of paraplegia and urinary retention. His symptoms developed 6 days ago without any trauma. He had a history of vertebroplasty due to compression fracture of 12th thoracic vertebral body 6 years ago. There was no evidence of spinal cord compression on routine T1-and T2-weighted MRI. RESULTS: In diffusion-weighted MRI, a high intensity signal intensity lesion in the spinal cord and conus medullaris was observed. CONCLUSION: We report an example for the usefulness of diffusion-weighted image for early and accurate diagnosis of acute spinal cord infarction.
