1.Treament of brain abscesses in children (review of 23 cases during 1994-1995) in Neurosurgical Department of Cho Ray hospital

In 2 years period, we have treated 23 cases of brain abscess in children. The aetiological factors were mostly head congenital malformations (tetralogy of fallot): 11 cases -The diagnosis was made with CT scanning which revealed the exact localisation and the presence of one to three capsula in the patients. Identification of organisms was mostly negative. Penicilline and chloramphenicol were the main antibiotics used. Two procedures for treament were: puncture aspiration and total removal of abcess capsulae. The mortality rate was high.

2.Fracture of the anterior fossa with rhinorrhea- report of 33 cases.

The author reported 33 cases of traumatic C.S.F. rhinorrhea occurred after traffic accident or craniocerebral wounds. The skull X-ray or CT-scan shows fracture of posterior wall of frontal sinus with pneumocephalus in 17 cases. Leakage of C.S.F. meningitis and pneumocephalus were almost cured by intracranial techniques (duroplasty or suture of the dura).
