1.Dynamic analysis of myocardial enzymes, serum calcium, and electrocardiogram in patients with hypoparathyrodism

24 cases of hypoparathyroidism, 24 cases of normal control were included. The levels of enzymes, concentration of Ca were measured in all cases. The electrocardiogram was carried out in the hypoparathyroidism group carries. The levels of CK, CK-MB, BHDH, LDH and AST were significantly higher in patients with hypoparathyroidism than in normal control cases(P<0.05), especially the levels of CK and CK-MB (P<0.01). After the treatment, the electrocardiogram and enzymes basically returned to normal. The changes of enzymes in patients with hypoparathyroidism may play a benchmark about the severity and treatment.

Objective To evaluate the role of low salt (LS) medium and the involvement of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK) in the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and production of PGE2 in a mouse macula densa derived cell line (MMDD1 cells). Methods Confluent MMDD1 cells were exposed to serum free DMEM/F12 in a 1:1 mixture with normal saline (NS), 300 mmol/L mannitol (to reduce NaCl to half, LS solution). Semi-quantitive reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction amplication (RT-PCR) and Western blotting were used to detect the expression of COX-2 mRNA and protein with LS solution. The content of PGE2 in the supernatant was examined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Expression of total and phosphorylated p38 MAPK kinsae was examined by Western blotting in LS solution. 3.Utility of short tau inversion recovery sequence in the diagnosis of hippocampal sclerosis

Objective To evaluate the utility of short tau inversion recovery (STIR) sequence in the diagnosis of hippocampal sclerosis ( HS).Methods Twenty-one patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy without neoplasm lesions or injuries by conventional MRI sequence including T1WI,T2WI and FLAIR were included in this study.STIR imaging in axial,coronal and sagittal sequences was performed on these patients. Diagnosis of HS was based on the findings of hippocampal atrophy,alteration signal,disturbed internal structure and enlargement of the inferior horn. The findings shown on conventional MRI were compared with those on STIR sequence. Furthermore,the correlation of radiologic and histological findings was investigated in 6 patients operated for refractory seizures. Results On conventional MRI sequence,14 patients (66.7%) were confirmed with unilateral HS and 4 patients were suspected with unilateral HS. In contrast,all these 18 patients (85.7%) were confirmed with unilateral HS by STIR.Particularly,STIR sequence delineated the internal structure of hippocampus more clearly than conventional MRI sequences did. C shaped contour in subiculum-CA1-CA2 was revealed in normal hippocampus on STIR sequence and disappeared in HS,correlated to the pathology finding of loss of neuron in CA1 in resected tissues in 6 operated patients.The patients with HS also showed areas of hypodensity in CA4 on STIR,in accordance with pathologic findings of gliosis in this area in the 6 operated patients.Conclusion STIR sequence could depict the internal anatomical structure of hippocampus with high resolution superior to conventional MRI sequences,and can be of great value in the diagnosis of HS.
4.Susceptibility of Acinetobacter baumannii isolates to eight antimicrobial agents tested by different methods

Objective The purpose of this study was to analyze the susceptibility profile of Acinetobacter baumannii to antimicrobial agents,and validate the results of different antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods,for improving the quality of antibiotic resistance monitoring data.Methods The susceptibility data of Hebei Provincial Antimicrobial Resistant Investigation Net were analyzed retrospectively and 126 strains ofA.baumannii were collected.The susceptibility ofA.baumannii to piperacillintazobactam,amikacin,gentamicin,ciprofloxacin,levofloxacin,ceftazidime,imipenem,and meropenem was tested by E-test,KirbyBauer method and VITEK system.Results The susceptibility results of the 126 A.baumannii strains showed that the susceptibility to piperacillin-tazobactam,amikacin,gentamicin,levofloxacin and ceftazidime was significantly different between the three methods (P<0.05).The categorical agreement,major error,minor error,and very major error of Kirby-Bauer method were within acceptable range.There were evident difference in classification consistency for piperacillin-tazobactam,amikacin,levofloxacin between Kirby-Bauer method and VITEK (P<0.05).Conclusions Different antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods may lead to different results of resistance monitoring data.Bias may be generated in antibiotic resistance surveillance if different methods are used.The susceptibility results of piperacillin-tazobactam,amikacin,levofloxacin derived from VITEK system should be validated by Kirby-Bauer or E-test method.
5.Antimicrobial resistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae strains isolated from 53 hospitals across Hebei in 2015

Objective To investigate the antimicrobial resistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae strains isolated from multiple medical institutions across Hebei Province in 2015.Methods The bacterial data were collected from 53 member hospitals of Hebei Antimicrobial Resistance Investigation Net (HEBARIN) according to the unified surveillance program in Hebei province.WHONET 5.6 was used to review,analyze and summarize the surveillance data.The results were interpreted according to CLSI guideline 2014.Results A total of 2 408 strains of S.pneumoniae were included in this analysis.S.pneumoniae was the third most frequently isolated gram positive bacteria.More than 95% of these S.pneumoniae strains were susceptible to vancomycin and moxifloxacin.However,96.4%,89.3% and 67.4% of these strains were resistant to erythromycin,clindamycin,and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole,respectively.The antimicrobial susceptibility profile was similar between the strains isolated from adults and those isolates from children.Conclusions The antimicrobial resistance profile ofS.pneumoniae isolates in Hebei Province is generally consistent with the nation-wide data,except higher resistance level to a few antimicrobial agents.We should be alert to and control the emergence of resistant S.pneumoniae.
6.Analysis of a patient with severe Hemophilia A due to a large duplication of F8 gene.

OBJECTIVE:
To report on a case with severe hemophilia A (HA) due to a large duplication of F8 gene.
METHODS:
Inversion detection, Sanger sequencing, and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) were used to detect the mutation in the proband and his mother.
RESULTS:
The patient, a 7-year-old boy, was diagnosed with severe HA at 8 months. No inhibitor was developed over 150 exposure days. Intronic inversion detection and Sanger sequencing have failed to identify pathogenic variants, while MLPA revealed a large duplication [Ex 1_22 dup (2 copies)] in the proband, for which his mother was a carrier [Ex 1_22 dup (3 copies)]. Large duplications of the F8 gene have so far been found in 24 HA patients, all of whom had a severe phenotype, only one had a history of inhibitors.
CONCLUSION
Large duplications of F8 gene are associated with severe HA. The diagnostic rate for HA may be increased by MLPA.

7.The Association between Screen Time Behavior in Early Childhood,Outdoor Activities and their Interaction with Hyperactive Behavior in Preschool Children

[Objective]To investigate the association between screen content and the frequency of screen exposure at the age of one and a half years and hyperactive behavior in preschool,and to explore how the association is affected by the interaction between outdoor activities and screen behaviors,which could provide theoretical basis and feasible solutions for the prevention and intervention of behavioral problems in childhoood.[Methods]The survey was conducted from June 2022 to June 2023 in Huicheng District,Huizhou (China) stratified by whole cluster sampling methods. Parents and teachers of 5648 children in 61 kindergartens were sampled for questionnaire surveys. The Conners Teacher Rating Scale (TRS) was used to investigate hyperactive behavior. A self-administered questionnaire was used to investigate basic demographic information of children,screen content,frequency of screen exposure and outdoor activities at the age of one and a half years. Multivariate logistic regression was used to explore the association between video screen behavior and hyperactive behavior and its interaction with outdoor activities by controlling for covariates such as children's age,gender,and parental education.[Results]Result showed the overall prevalence of 3.2% for hyperactive behavior,2.1% for conduct problems,2.1% for hyperactivity problems,1.3% for inattention-passivity problems,and 0.9% for hyperactivity index. After adjusting for confounding factors,multiple logistic regression analysis showed that screen exposure of "two to four times a week" at one and a half years old was associated with an increased detection rate of hyperactive behaviors in preschool children,with an estimated ORs (95% CI) of 1.682 (1.141,2.480). Daily screen exposure was associated with increased detection rates of hyperactive behavior,conduct problems,hyperactivity issues,inattention-passivity problems,and hyperactivity index in pre-school age. The estimated ORs (95% CI) were 2.136 (1.218,3.746),2.321 (1.185,4.546),2.300 (1.208,4.380),2.776 (1.267,6.085) and 3.640 (1.525,8.687),respectively. But the above associations were not found in children who were engaged in daily outdoor activities at the age of one and a half years (P value for interaction<0.001). No association was found between screen content and hyperactive behavior (P>0.05).[Conclusions]Frequency of screen exposure in early childhood is significantly associated with hyperactive behavior problems in preschool,and outdoor activities could weaken the correlation between high-frequency screen exposure and hyperactive behavior,suggesting that parents and schools should prioritize scientifically guiding children's video viewing behavior and outdoor activities,ensuring a well-arranged daily life,to lay a good foundation for the healthy development of children's behavior.
