Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2007;5(4):205-208
To investigate the neurobiological mechanism of depression pathogenesis and reveal the mechanism of acupuncture treatment of depression. Methods: Wistar rats were selected for subjects. A rat model of depression was made by individually housing with unpredicted chronic moderate stimuli. Changes in behavior and hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenocortical axis were examined in rat models of stress-induced depression. Meanwhile, the intervening effect of acupuncture was evaluated and the curative effects of different acupuncture methods compared. Results: CORT and ACTH contents of serum were significantly higher in the model and normal saline groups than in the control group (P<0.05), significantly lower in the hand acupuncture and electroacupuncture groups than in the model group (P<0.05) and significantly lower in the medication group than in the normal saline group (P<0.05). There were no significant differences between the hand acupuncture, electroacupuncture and medication groups. Conclusion: Acupuncture of Baihui(GV 20) and Taichong (LR 3) has a marked antidepressant effect. Its mechanism may be related to the regulation of HPA axis by acupuncture.

Objective To investigate the correla tion between the plasma endothelin (ET) and gastric mucosal pathology. Methods In this experiment, seven dogs who exper ienced common bile-duct ligation were in experiment group, the other three dogs who underwent sham-operation were control group. By using specific radio immun ological method, the plasma ET levels were determined in dogs before and after 1 ,4,7 d. The total bilirubin levels were determined before and after 1,4,7 d afte r operation by using carbazotic acid method. The gastric mucosa,7 d after operati on, was cut into slices and was examined under the electron microscope and the l ight microscope. Results In the experiment group, the levels of ET and total bilirubin rose continually and were higher than those in control gr oup. Vascular congestion and oedema were seen in gastric mucosa of common bile- duct ligated dogs. Under the electron microscope, we could see the dilated bloo d capillary and sludging of blood, the intenstitial mucusa cells oedema. Conclusion The increase of plasma ET might lea d to impairment of mucosal micro-circulation,which might be one of the pathogen s that could induce the gastric mucosal damages in common bile-duct ligated dog s.

objective To evaluate the value of HRCT on differential diagnosis of a rat model of pulmonary fibrosis induced with bleomycin A5 and to replicate a rat model of pulmonary fibrosis for radio imaging study to investigate pathogenetic mechanism of pulmonary fibrosis. Methods In 50 of 60 male Sprague Dawley rats bleomycin A5 was given through the trachea, and the other 10 received same volume of normal saline. After 28 days, HRCT and pathological examination of the lungs were performed, and the changes were correlatively studied. Results HRCT showed pulmonary fibrosis in all the 50 rats treated with bleomyein, including ground glass opacity, nodular shadow, abnormality in bronchio vasarlar linings, pleural thickening, and in some with beehive like changes. Lung fibrosis was corroborated by pathological sections. Conclusion HRCT can be used to diagnose pulmonary fibrosis of living rats. It is a simple, accurate, reliable, and it can give good representation.

BACKGROUND:Functional recovery after joint arthroplasty is an important indicator to evaluate the effect and prognosis of total knee arthroplasty, and is affected by patients and many kinds of outside factors. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the influencing factors of functional recovery of knee in patients with knee osteoarthritis after total knee arthroplasty. METHODS:Clinical data of 76 osteoarthritis patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty in the Dongying People’s Hospital from August 2007 to August 2013 were retrospectively analyzed. Hospital for Special Surgery knee score, knee pain Visual Analogue Score, range of motion and posterior slop angle of tibial plateau were compared before and 6 months after surgery. Changes in anterior condylar offset were recorded before and after femoral prosthesis arthroplasty. SPSS 21.0 software was used to analyze the influential factors for Hospital for Special Surgery knee scores after arthroplasty. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1) Hospital for Special Surgery knee score, knee pain Visual Analogue Score, and range of motion were significantly higher 6 months after arthroplasty than that before arthroplasty (P<0.05). (2) Pearson correlation analysis demonstrated that preoperative Hospital for Special Surgery knee score, preoperative knee pain Visual Analogue Score, preoperative range of motion, preoperative posterior slop angle of tibial plateau and preoperative and postoperative anterior condylar offset changes were positively correlated with postoperative Hospital for Special Surgery knee score (P<0.05). Body mass index and inversion deformity angle were negatively correlated with postoperative Hospital for Special Surgery knee score (P<0.05). (3) Multiple linear regression analysis showed body mass index was negatively correlated with postoperative Hospital for Special Surgery knee score (P<0.05). Preoperative Hospital for Special Surgery knee score, preoperative knee pain Visual Analogue Score and preoperative posterior slop angle of tibial plateau were positively correlated with postoperative Hospital for Special Surgery knee score (P<0.05). (4) These results indicated that total knee arthroplasty significantly improved knee joint function. Body mass index, preoperative Hospital for Special Surgery knee score, preoperative knee pain Visual Analogue Score, preoperative posterior slop angle of tibial plateau and preoperative and postoperative anterior condylar offset changes were correlated with the recovery of joint function after total knee arthroplasty.

Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of sliding hernia of adult urinary bladder. Methods Clinical data of 32 cases of adult sliding hernia of the bladder from 1984 to 2009 were analyzed retrospectively. Discomfort was complained in all the 32 patients along with palpable mass. Twentynine cases suffered from urgency of micturition, ascheturesis and dysuria, 15 cases had interruption of urination. The mass was saddle-shaped in 29 cases, when the bladder was filling. In all the 32 cases of hernia block were in a sense of fluctuations and flat on percussion. In 26 cases the bladder appeared a dumbbell-shaped image on cystography. By B-ultrasonic examination an opaque dark area of fluid was detected in 29 cases when there was retention of urine. Results Preoperatively 29 cases were diagnosed of bladder sliding hernia, 3 cases with misdiagnosis ( misdiagnosis rate of 9.4% ). 32 cases were cured by surgical treatment. The prolapsed portion of the bladder including stones in 2 cases were resected. 32 cases were followed up from 1 to 5 years without recurrence. Conclusions Once the sliding hernia of the bladder is diagnosed, patient should receive surgery. Intraoperatively the key of preventing inadvertent cut or missed diagnosis is familiar with pathological anatomy and careful exploration.
