AIM: To evaluate the biological characteristics and differentiating potentials of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) from sensitized mice by allogeneic splenocyte transfusion in vitro.METHODS: Adherent culture method was applied for culturing the bone marrow-derived MSCs from sensitized mice. The cell morphology was examined and the surface marker profiles were analyzed by flow cytometry. The differentiating potentials of the MSCs into osteogenic, adipogenic and myogenic lineages were explored. The bone marrow-derived MSCs from the normal mice were collected and served as controls.RESULTS: Both the bone marrow-derived MSCs from sensitized and normal mice were exhibited a homogeneous distinctive morphology and were positive for the surface markers CD29,CD105,CD44 and Sca-1,negative in CD 34 and CD11b.The abilities of both MSCs to differentiate into osteogenic, adipogenic and myogenic pathways in the same condition were also observed.CONCLUSION: There is no difference in the biological characteristics and induced differentiating potentials between the sensitized mouse bone marrow-derived MSCs by allogeneic splenocytes transfusion and the MSCs from normal mice.

Objective Many studies have suggested that cardiovascular risk factors seem to be more common in psoriasis patients than in general population. In this study we aimed to investigate the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular risk in psoriasis patients by Framingham cardiovascular risk assessment in patients with psoriasis vulgaris and normal people using Framingham score. Methods We conducted a prospective study including 90 outpatients with psoriasis vulgaris and 137 controls without psoriasis from October 2015 to October 2016 in our hospital. All psoriasis patients were diagnosed clinically and histopathologically. The severity of psoriasis was assessed according to the psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) score.Along with a thorough medical history and physical examination, serum lipid profile, blood pressure and fasting plasma glucose tests were carried out.The 10-year Framingham risk score (FRS) for general cardiovascular disease included indexes concerning age, gender, total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, systolic blood pressure and smoking history. Results We found the 10-year FRS was significantly higher in patients with psoriasis vulgaris than in controls (P<0.05).The 10-year FRS was in positive relation with gender(r=0.358), age(r=0.678) and course of disease(r=0.257).No relation has been found in 10-year FRS and psoriasis features(r=0.184, P>0.05).No significance was found in the 10-year FRS of patients with mild and severe psoriasis (P>0.05).FRS was significantly higher in male patients and in patients above 50 years old (P<0.05).Conclusion Psoriasis patients, especially the older male patients, tend to have high risks of cardiovascular disease. Therefore, risk assessment for cardiovascular diseases should be conducted in psoriasis patients, and complications should be actively prevented and treated.

ObjectiveTo study the relationship between the antitumor immunoreaction and the cell apoptosis in esophageal carcinoma.MethodsThe IL-1β converting enzyme, Fas and FasL protein were labeled by LSAB immunohistochemistric method in 46 cases of esophageal carcinoma, of which 13 cases were labeled by TdT mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL).ResultsThe positive rates of ICE, Fas and FasL proteins in the cancer nests were 78.26%, 60.87% and 47.83%. The expression of ICE protein was related to the histological grading of the cancer. Conclusions The expression of Fas, FasL protein may be related to the immunological escape of the cancer cell; the expression of ICE was related to the histological grading of the cancer.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the traditional Chinese medicine NAOAN capsule in primary prevention of stroke in high?risk populations. Methods A multicenter, randomized controlled study was performed in community setting, involving 1 088 individuals at high risk of stroke, with cerebrovascular function scores<75 and 10?year Framingham stroke risk ≥6%. Subjects were recruited in communities at Beijing, Shanghai, Changsha, and Chengdu communities, through resident committees or the village unit. A total of 559 subjects were randomized into a group treated with the NAOAN capsule, and 529 subjects in an aspirin treatment group. Follow?up was performed every 2 months for 2 years. At the mid?point and end of the intervention, we compared cerebrovascular function differences between the 2 groups. Results During the 2?year community trial, 531 subjects in the NAOAN capsule group and 465 in the aspirin group followed the protocol. Cerebrovascular function scores increased from 45.2±19.7 at baseline to 61.7±26.5 after the 2?year trial (t=-12.931, P<0.001) in the NAOAN capsule group, and from 47.2±18.9 at baseline to 53.7 ± 25.1 (t=-5.058, P<0.001) in the aspirin group; greater increases in cerebrovascular function scores were found in the NAOAN capsule group than that in the aspirin group (t=4.906, P<0.001). Conclusions Cerebrovascular function in individuals at high risk of stroke was improved by taking NAOAN capsule. Cerebrovascular function scores improved more with NAOAN capsules than with aspirin.
