1.Relationship between female ages and the theory of five tones correlated with five zang viscera in Huangdi Neijing

OBJECTIVE: To find out some evidence that may indicate the theory of voice pitch of the five tones being correlated with the five zang viscera in Huangdi Neijing, which was lost 2 000 years. METHODS: Eight-four healthy females were divided into younger group (<34 years old) and older group (> or =34 years old) according to their ages. The pronunciations of these females were examined by sono-frequency analysis facility. RESULTS: The frequency of Jiao tone was much higher than those of the other tones in both groups (P<0.01) and the frequency of Jiao tone increased as aging. The frequency of Zhi tone in the younger group was higher than that in the older group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The results of higher frequency of Jiao tone in females is in accordance with the theory put forward by Ye Gui (a famous doctor in Qing Dynasty of China) that the liver is the congenital base of female life. In traditional Chinese medicine, Jiao tone is correlated with the liver, and Zhi tone is correlated with the heart. The high frequency of Zhi tone in younger females implies that regulating the Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang and Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin may be beneficial to the health maintenance of younger female.
2.The expression of TCRP1 in chronic myeloid leukemia cells and its effects on cell proliferation

Objective To investigate the effects of tongue cancer resistance-associated protein 1 (TCRP1) in proliferation of chronic myeloid leukemia cells (CML),and explore the new thoughts of pathogenesis of CML.Methods The expression of TCRP1 was detected in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of CML with real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Western blot.After the expression of TCRP1 was interfered in K562 cells,the proliferation of cells was detected by 3-(4,5-dimenthylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium (MTS) assay and soft agar colony forming assay,and the expression of protein kinase B (AKT) and its phosphorylation were tested by Western blot.Results In PBMC of CML patients,the mRNA and protein levels of TCRP1 were significantly higher than those of normal controls.The results of MTS assay and soft agar colony forming assay showed that the proliferation of K562 cells was significantly decreased after the expression of TCRP1 was interfered.After knockdown of TCRP1 in K562 cells,the phosphorylation of AKT was significantly decreased while the expression of total AKT did not change.Conclusions The expression of TCRP1 was increased in CML cells.High expression of TCRP1 might contribute to proliferation of K562 cells via the phosphorylation of AKT.

It is difficult to identify and locate the degree and range of infection accurately before the operation. Thus, complete debridement tends to be challenging because of potential above-mentioned issues. Then it would lead to recurrence and further deterioration of the disease postoperatively. Timely and efficient diagnostic methods could promote early diagnosis of DSWI, and locate the focus of infection accurately so as to deal with it in time. This paper compares and summarizes the existing diagnostic methods for DSWI at home and abroad, such as microbiological examination, imaging examination, clinical symptoms and signs, in order to improve the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment of DSWI.

9.Mechanisms of herpes simplex virus latency and reactivation.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV), including HSV-1 and HSV-2, is an important pathogen that can cause many diseases. Usually these diseases are recurrent and incurable. After lytic infection on the surface of peripheral mucosa, HSV can enter sensory neurons and establish latent infection during which viral replication ceases. Moreover, latent virus can re-enter the replication cycle by reactivation and return to peripheral tissues to start recurrent infection. This ability to escape host immune surveillance during latent infection and to spread during reactivation is a viral survival strategy and the fundamental reason why no drug can completely eradicate the virus at present. Although there are many studies on latency and reactivation of HSV, and much progress has been made, many specific mechanisms of the process remain obscure or even controversial due to the complexity of this process and the limitations of research models. This paper reviews the major results of research on HSV latency and reactivation, and discusses future research directions in this field.
