4.Examination of the Gap between Customer's Perception and Foodservice Provider's Perception of Service Quality in Restaurants.

A significant gap can exist between what customers expect in foodservice and what service providers deliver to customers. Reducing the gap and enhancing service quality plays a key role in increasing customer satisfaction and repurchase intentions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the personal and operational characteristics that affect the customer perceptions of service quality, to analyze the overall satisfaction and repurchase intention of customers, and to study the service quality gap between customer and foodservice provides. 427 customers and 278 foodservice providers in 82 fast food and family restaurants were surveyed. T-test, ANOVA, Correlation Analysis, and Multiple Regression were used for statistical analysis, The results of this study were as follows: 1) Among the personal characteristics of customers, sex affected the preception of 'General Management' and 'Reputation', and the expense per person showed a correlation with service quality. 2) Among the operational characteristics, the type of restaurant, months since opening, and the number of seats had a significant impact on service quality, while the seat turnover rate showed a negative correlation with service quality. 3) Among the human resource characteristics, the proportion of part-time employees had a negative correlation with service quality, and in general, the training program for full-time employees led to a higher degree of customer perception of service quality. 4) Six dimensions of service quality accounted for 38.39% of customer satisfaction in Multiple Regression. 5) The overall satisfaction of customers willing to repurchase was significantly higher than that of the non-repurchase customers. 6) The operational characteristics explained over 35% for the service quality gap among the customers and the service providers in Multiple Regression.

5.Analysis of the Service Quality Provided by Foodserice Workers in Restaurants.

Consistently delivering good service quality is a complex and dynamic process. In this matter, service differs from tangible products and is highly dependent on the business and service provider. Therefore, efficiently managing the process of delivering service quality can contribute to profits for organization and satisfaction to customers. This study was performed to define service quality, and to investigate the personal and operational characteristics that impacts the service quality provided by foodservice provider. The responses from 278 foodservice providers and 427 customers in 82 fast-food and family restaurants were used in this analysis. Descriptive, Factor Analysis, T-test, ANOVA, and Correlation Analysis were used for statistical Analysis. The Results of this study were as follows : 1) The perception of foodservice provider was significantly higher than that of the customers in most of the 21 service quality attributes. 2) The 6 dimensions derived from Factor Analysis explained 56.8% for service quality. 3) Among the personal characteristics of the foodservice provider, the level of education and the position in the job led to a significant difference in some of the service qualities. 4) The type of restaurant played an important role in foodservice providers' perception of service quality. 5) Month since opening had a negative correlation with 'Atmosphere' and a positive correlation with 'Reputation', while the number of seats showed a positive correlation with 'Atmosphere' and a negative correlation with 'Food' and 'Convenience'. 6) In general, the characteristics of sales had a positive correlation with service quality. 7) The proportion of part-time employees showed a negative correlation with 'Atmosphere' and 'Food', and a positive correlation with 'Reputation'.

6.Screening of Anti-Atopic Dermatitis Material by Using NC/Nga Mouse Whole Blood System.

BACKGROUND: Allergic inflammation was induced by activated Th2 lymphocytes, leading to IgE production and eosinophil activation. A Th2 disproportion was shown in atopic children soon after birth. During specific allergen stimulation, an increase of Th2 cells was observed in most cases. In this study, we prepared new screening "whole blood" system for searching the anti-atopic materials. Cytokine production and IgE secretion from whole blood system were assessed and we confirmed the results by using animal system. METHODS: Pathological features in NC/Nga mice are similar to those observed in human atopic dermatitis. Whole blood from NC/Nga mouse was stimulated by using TNCB (Th2 activator) or candidate materials of anti-atopic dermatitis, and the production of cytokines (IL-4, IL-12, and IFN-gamma) were measured by ELISA. In order to confirm the results of whole blood system, in vivo test was done by using NC/Nga mice. RESULTS: In whole blood system, LPS and extracts of green tea, hardy orange and onion induced the production of IL-12 and IFN-gamma while they reduced the production of IL-4. Also, LPS and extracts of onion reduced IgE production. Though atopic dermatitis was observed from a mouse stimulated with TNCB, it was not when a mouse was co-stimulated in LPS or extracts of onion. The results are same as those observed in whole blood system. CONCLUSION: Whole blood system was simple and speedy methods for searching a materials compared with the conventional high-cost animal system. And the results using whole blood system was proved to be reliable in our experiments for screening anti-atopic material. We expect that the system can be applied to other experiments for searching similar materials.

7.Coronary Stenting in 15year-old boy with Coronary Artery Stenosis Secondary to Kawasaki Disease.

Kawasaki disease is an acute febrile illness frequently developed in infants and children. This disease may involve coronary arteries in 15- 25% of the patients and may progress to coronary aneurysms, ischemic cardiac diseases, and sudden cardiac death. Recently we experienced successful balloon angioplasty followed by coronary stenting in a 15-year old boy with unstable angina and severe coronary arterial occlusive disease secondary to Kawasaki disease. He was diagnosed as unstable angina by 24 hours Holter monitoring, treadmill exercise stress test, echocardiography, and Dipyridamole 99mTc-sestamibi scan. And coronary angiogram revealed severe multiple stenosis and aneurysmal changes due to Kawasaki disease. We successfully performed a percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty with stent implantation at left circumflex arterial occlusive lesion.

8.Clinical Efficacy of Ertapenem for Recurrent Cystitis Caused by Multidrug-Resistant Extended-Spectrum beta-Lactamase-Producing Escherichia coli in Female Outpatients.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of ertapenem administered as an outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy for intractable cystitis caused by extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Escherichia coli. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed a case series of 3 years of therapeutic experience with ertapenem for intractable recurrent cystitis caused by ESBL-producing E. coli. Ertapenem 1 g/d was parenterally administered to the patients on an outpatient basis until the acquisition of symptomatic improvement and negative conversion of urine culture. Demographic and clinical characteristics of patients, antimicrobial resistance, and clinical response data were analyzed from the patients' medical records. RESULTS: During the course of this study, a total of 383 patients were diagnosed with cystitis, and 24 of them showed ESBL-producing E. coli (6.26%). The mean treatment duration of all patients was 8.5 days. The early clinical and microbiological cure rates 0 to 7 days after the end of treatment were 91.7% (22/24) and 90.9% (20/22), respectively. The late clinical and microbiological cure rates 4 to 6 weeks after the end of treatment were 72.2% (13/18) at both time points. CONCLUSIONS: Parenteral ertapenem treatment can be an effective and well-tolerated treatment option for intractable recurrent cystitis by multidrug-resistant ESBL-producing E. coli.

9.Treatment of Femoropopliteal Artery In-stent Restenosis

Femoropopliteal (FP) artery-in stent restenosis (ISR) is a daunting management problem that we continue to face. FP artery-ISR rates after primary stent implantation are relatively high. Although repeat FP artery-ISR and the need for additional interventions remain all too common, little consensus exists regarding the best treatment algorithm. In this article, we review the limitations of the currently used devices for the endovascular treatment of FP artery-ISR and discuss which strategies are the most effective and safe.
