Objective To evaluate DSA feature, the value, efficacy and side effect, survival time of microcathereter superselective catherization intervenetional treatment on liver metastases cancer. Methods 60 cases with liver metastases cancers were cannulated through common femoral artery by seldinger technique. If the artery was lack, second radiography was given through superselective hepatic artery. On the base of DSA feature of liver metastases, all the patients were divided into two groups: superselective- catherization group and nonsuperselective-catherization group. There were 30 patients in each group respectively. Microcathereter was used in the former to "embed" the tumor vessel and "siphonal" technique was used in the later. Compared the changes of the two groups in volume, the deposit of iodized oil in liver matastases after treating one month and the changes of ALT, ALB, TBIL in blood. The efficacy and side effect were compared in two groups. The survival time and DSA feature of using microcathereter were also analyzed. Results The DSA feature and efficacy of superselective-catherization group was better than that of non-superselective-catherization group, the side effect was mild and the survival time was longer than the former. Conclusion Microcathereter superselective catherization to treat liver metastases cancer has better efficacy, artery radiography, lighter side effect and can prolong the survival time.

Objective To characterize the abrasive wear of polymer tapes in ATM (Auto Teller Machine)servicing in sand dust environment. Methods The abrasive wear experiment of polymer tapes, PEN (polyethylene-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) and PI (polyimide), by sand dust particles is performed in ATM tribosystem. The fractal characteristics of the worn surface of polymer tapes and the corresponding wear mechanisms are examined. Results As main results, the worn surfaces of polymer tapes show bi-fractal characteristics, and PI tape shows higher fractal dimensions and finer wear profiles than PEN tape. Wear mechanism examination shows macro and micro ploughing and cutting grooves and micro fracture characters, which gives reasonable explanation of bi-fractal character of worn polymer tapes. Conclusion Worn polymer tape shows fractal character and bi-fractal can be used in accurately characterizing the abrasive wear of polymer tapes of ATM in sand dust environment.

Objective To observe the effect of electrical stimulation of the pelvic floor muscles (PES) combined with acupuncture on urinary dysfunction in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods Sixty-two patients with SCI were randomly divided into a treatment group ( n =31 ) and a control group ( n =31 ).All subjects received routine bladder function training and a drinking water schedule for 8 weeks. In addition, the treatment group was given PES 30-40 min/d 6 times/week and acupuncture for 30 min/d,6 times/week for the 8 weeks.Residual volume of urine was evaluated using ultrasound and a daily voiding diary.Uurodynamic examinations and catheter extraction were used to assess the urinary function pre- and post-treatment. Results No significant difference was found between the two groups before treatment, but after 8 weeks of treatment the residual volume of urine detected by ultrasound and voiding frequency were significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group.First desire to urinate and maximal urinary bladder capacities in the treatment group were also significant higher than in the control group. The efficacy of treatment was also sustained significantly longer in the treatment group. Conclusion PES combined with acupuncture therapy is more effective than routine bladder function training for SCI patients with urinary dysfunction.

Objective To assess the effects of rehabilitation training on lower extremity muscle function in stroke patients using velocity-encoded phase-contrast MRI ( VE-PC MRI). Methods Twenty-nine stroke patients at the convalescence stage were divided into a treatment group (14 cases) and a control group (13 cases). The subjects performed calf muscles stretches supine in a scanner bed with voluntary ankle flexion-extension movements.Imaging data were collected from the tibialis anterior muscle (TA),the medial head of the gastrocnemius (MG) and the soleus muscle (SOL) of the affected side. The treatment group also underwent rehabilitation including treadmill training, while the control group received only walking training without the treadmill.Barthel index (BI) and Berg balance scale (BBS) scores were measured after rehabilitation. Results Compared with baseline, the contraction velocity of the TA (phases 2 to 7),the MG (phases 12 to 18 ) and the SOL (phases 13 to 16) on the affected side increased significantly in the treatment group. In the control group, the contraction velocity of the calf muscles on the affected side improved, but fewer phases were significant-for the TA phase 4,for the MG phases 13 to 15 and for the SOL phase 15.In both groups,BBS and BI scores improved significantly compared with baseline. The average improvement in the treatment group was significantly greater than that in the control group. Conclusions Rehabilitation including treadmill training can improve calf muscle contraction function on stroke patients' affected side, and also their ADL performance and balance.VE-PC MR1 can provide quantitative in vivo measurements of the contraction function of stroke patients' calf muscles.

Objective:To evaluate the relationship between intraoperative concentration of C-X-C motif chemokine 13 (CXCL13) in peripheral blood and postoperative delirium (POD) in elderly patients under general anesthesia.Methods:Ninety-three patients of both sexes, aged 65-85 yr, of American Society of Anesthesiologists physical statusⅠor Ⅱ, scheduled for elective hip replacement under general anesthesia, were selected.Peripheral venous blood samples were collected to determine the concentrations of CXCL13 and interleukin-6 (IL-6) before anesthesia and during surgery (30 min after skin incision). The Confusion Assessment Method Scale in Chinese was used to detect the development of POD every day within 7 days after surgery in 2 groups. The patients were divided into POD group and non-POD group.Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors for POD.Results:Seventeen patients developed POD (19%). There was significant difference in ages, preoperative mini-mental state examination (MMSE) scores before surgery, hospital stay time and intraoperative concentrations of CXCL13 and IL-6 in peripheral blood between group non-POD and group POD ( P<0.05). The results of logistic regression analysis showed that preoperative MMSE scores, intraoperative concentrations of CXCL13 and IL-6 in peripheral blood and advanced ages were independent risk factors for the development of POD ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Preoperative MMES scores, intraoperative concentrations of CXCL13 and IL-6 in peripheral blood and advanced ages are independent risk factors for the development of POD.
