Objective To study the influence of different positions in the isokinetic muscle test of knees by CON-TREX Biomechanical Test and Training System, so as to select the suitable conditions for forensic identification of muscle strength test. Methods Fifty-two healthy volunteers joined the isokinetic muscle strength test in unfixed and fixed position, respectively and in two kinds of angular speed (60°/s and 30°/s). The differences of peak torque (PT) and peak torque angle (PTA) between bilateral knee flexor and extensor were statistically analyzed. Results In the unfixed position, under the two speed, there was statistically significant difference in PT between bilateral knee flexor and extensor (P<0.05);while in the fixed position, under the two speed, there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). In any kind of conditions, the PTA of bilateral knee flexor and extensor did not have statistically signifi-cant difference(P>0.05). Conclusion The position of the subject influences the results of PT. So the po-sition of subject in knees isokinetic muscle test should be regulated.

OBJECTIVE:
To study the application of isokinetic muscle testing in identification of the faked paralysis to provide scientific data for establishing a standard system of muscle strength in forensic medicine identification.
METHODS:
Fifty-seven patients with bone fracture or nerve damage as damaged group and 128 normal subjects pretended paralysis as faked paralyzed group were included in this study. Isokinetic muscle testing was performed on bilateral knees of all subjects in the two groups. The peak torque (PT) and peak torque angle (PTA) were compared between both sides in each group. The features of torque-time graph of two groups were classified.
RESULTS:
In the damaged group, the differences of PT between two sides of flexors and extensors were statistically significant (P<0.05), while the dif- ferences of PTA were not statistically significant (P>0.05). In faked paralyzed group, the differences of PT and PTA between two sides of flexors and extensors were both statistically significant (P<0.05). The torque-time graph of damaged knee presented mostly as single lead peak, while torque-time graph of the faked paralyzed knee presented mostly as multiple peaks.
CONCLUSION
The feature of torque-time graph could be useful to identify the faked paralyzed extremities in forensic authentication.

Objective To evaluate the echocardiographic findings and clinical application in the rupture of sinus of Valsalva aneurysm(SVA).Methods Typical transthoracic echocardiographic appearance of 62 patients with SVA and accompanied abnormality were reviewed and compared with operative results. Results Fifty-eight (93.5%) cases SVA were preoperatively discovered by echocardiography, while 2 (3.2%) misdiagnosed as tetralogy of Fallot and tricuspid regurgitation and 2 (3.2%) missed diagnosis.Accompanying teratisms included frequently ventricular septal defect (VSD) (33 cases, 53.2 %) and aortic valve dysplasia(11 cases, 17.7%).The rupture site and the drainage chamber were essentially consisted with surgery, while the size of VSD measured by echocardiography was significantly smaller than that measured in operation. Conclusions Transthoracic echoeardiography is valuable in diagnosing of the site, drainage chamber and the accompanied abnormality of SVA.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2013;29(6):409-413
OBJECTIVE:
To study the objectivity and reliability of needle electromyography and nerve conduction for detection of musculus extensor digitorum brevis strength, which may provide a basis for establishing a quantitative detection of muscle strength in forensic clinical study.
METHODS:
Forty-four healthy people were enrolled as the subjects, and during toe dorsiflexion, the following items including needle electromyography indexes, motor unit potential (MUP) amplitude, MUP count, recruitment reaction type, and nerve conduction detection indexes, compound muscle action potential (CMAP) amplitude, CMAP latent period and motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV), were simultaneously detected under the cooperation and disguise condition.
RESULTS:
Under the cooperation condition, regardless of the same operator or different operators, there were good test-retest reliabilities in MUP amplitude, CMAP amplitude, CMAP latent period and MNCV, while there were normal test-retest reliabilities in MUP count and recruitment reaction type and the repeatability of the same operator was slightly better than the repeatability between different operators. Under the disguise condition, test-retest reliabilities of MUP amplitude, CMAP amplitude, CMAP latent period and MNCV were relatively high, while test-retest reliabilities of MUP count and recruitment reaction type were relatively low.
CONCLUSION
There are good test-retest reliabilities in MUP amplitude, CMAP amplitude, CMAP latent period and MNCV, which can be conducive to comparison between different operators and results at various times; MUP count and recruitment reaction type, which can be easily affected by subjectivity of operators and examinees, can be used to differentiate whether an examinee disguises or not. The indexes used to objectively judge muscle strength remain to be further investigated.

The experiment aimed to study the toxic effect of oral ricin on gastrointestinal tract and immune organs of mice with the dose of 1/5 LD50.In early days of intoxication, there was an obviously decrease in daffy weight and relative weight of thymus and spleen, fllowing the excretion of toxin, they had a trend of recovering to the normal state. Also, results of pathological section, scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope showed that ricin would induce a series of pathological reaction in intestines, meanwhile, the splenocytes displayed significant symptom of apoptosis and necrosis.

Journal of Jilin University(Medicine Edition) 2016;42(4):821-826
Objective:To analyze the prevalence of syphilis infection and influence factors of syphilis infection among the male STD attendants in Songyuan City of Jilin Province, and to provide theoretical basis for the development and implementation of syphilis intervention policy. Methods:A questionnaire survey and serological tests were conducted among the men who went to STD clinic for treatment in the ZhanDong Dermatology Specialist Hospital or Qianguo County Hospital in Songyuan City from 2011 to 2015.Chi-square test was performed to compare the prevalences of syphilis infection between different groups.Multivariable Logistic regression model was used to find the independent factors of syphilis infection among the male STD attendants. Results:Of all 2 000 male STD attendants who involved in the study, the mean age was (34.50±9.03)years old.218 persons (10.90%)of them had sexual behavior with female sex workers in the last three months,433 persons (21.65%)of them had temporary sexual behavior in the last three months,42 persons (2.10%)of them had homosexual behavior in the last three months.Of the respondents,238 persons (11.90%)had a previous diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases,86 persons of them had gonorrhea (36.13%),43 persons had syphilis (18.07%),15 persons had genital tract Chlamydia (6.30%),55 persons had genital herpes (23.11%),40 persons had genital herpes (16.81%),and 1 person had combined infection of gonorrhea and syphilis. The prevalence of syphilis of 2 000 male STD attendants was 6.4%.From 2011 to 2015,there was a decrease in the prevalences of syphilis (χ2 =44.25,P <0.001).In the last 3 months, the risk of the male STD attendants who had commercial sex with prostitute, temporary sex behavior, homosexual behavior and a history of STD infection to be infected with syphilis in the past were 3.75 times (OR= 3.75,95% CI:2.46 - 5.71),2.31 times (OR = 2.31,95% CI: 1.56 - 3.41),2.97 times (OR=2.97,95%CI:1.33-6.64)and 1.69 times (OR=1.69,95%CI:1.07-2.67)than those who did not have those behaviors, respectively. Conclusion:There is a significantly decreasing tendency in the prevalence of syphilis among the male STD attendants in Songyuan City in the past 5 years. The high risk sexual behaviors are the main influence factors of syphilis infection among them.
