1.Nursing management in the treatment of large number of infants with urinary calculi

To explore the measures of nursing management in the treatment of large number of infants with urinary calculi. The nursing management measures included launching the preparedness and response project for sudden public health events, formulating scientific and standardized nursing management system,optimizing work flow,strengthening nurse training,focusing on the details in nursing management,implementing disinfection and isolation system seriously,and paying close attention to health education for the parents of minority infants. Scientific nursing management can ensure the treatment effectiveness and nursing safety for the infants with urinary calculi.
2.Isolation and structure determination of cypritibetquinone A and B, two new phenanthraquinones from Cypripedium tibeticum

Aim To study the chemical constituents of Cypripedium tibeticum. Methods Compounds were isolated by repeated silica gel chromatography and purified on Sephadex LH-20 and structures were determined by spectral analysis. Results Cypritibetquinones A and B were isolated from the ethyl acetate residue and their structures were determined as 7-hydroxy-2-methoxy-1, 4-phenanthraquinone ( 1 ) and 7-hydroxy-2,10-dimethoxy-1,4-phenanthraquinone ( 2 ), respectively, by extensive spectral analyses. Conclusion Cypritibetquinones A and B are two new phenanthraquinones.
3.Inhibitory effect of polypeptide from Buthus martensii Karsch on neoplasm cells

AIM: To observe the inhibitory effects of polypeptide from Buthus martensii venom (PBMV) on human tumor cell lines and the influence of PBMV on cell cycle migration, expression of tumor-suppressor gene p53 and the membrane potential of CNE-2Z cells. METHODS: MTT colorimetric method, the colony formation and mitosis index, flow cytometry assay and intracellular recording with glass microelectrodes were used. RESULTS: PBMV had obvious cytotoxicity on several tumor cell lines. The cells grow was inhibited by PBMV, colony formation rate and mitotic index of tumor cells were reduced and the number of polykaryocyte was decreased. Objective To observe the difference in treament of thoracolumbar vertebral bodies fractures be- tween AF nail and Dick nail.Methods From March 1998 to March 2007,85 cases of thoracolumbar vertebral bod- ies fractures were followed up.20 cases were fixed with Dick nail,and 65 cases with AF nail.Results The mean,fol- low-up period was 12 months.By comparison of the operating rime,bleeding amount,the recovery rate of vertebral height,the reduction of Cobb angle and capacity of vertebral canal,AF nail was much better than Dick nail.But there was no marked difference in the recover of nerve function.Conclusion AF nail has more power to reduce vertebral height and is easier to set than Dick nail.It will be worthy of more and wider application in basic level hospitals.

6.Correlation between neglect and behaviour problems of rural children aged 3-6 years in Urumqi

Objective:
To understand the situation of neglect and behavior problems of children aged 3-6 years in rural areas of Urumqi, Xinjiang, and to provide basis and reference for the prevention and treatment of child neglect.
Methods:
Stratified random cluster sampling was performed to select 1 326 children aged 3-6 years from 6 kindergartens in rural Urumqi. The “Chinese Rural Child Aged 3-6 Years Neglect Evaluation Norm” and “Conners Parent Symptom Questionnaire” were used.
Results:
The total neglect rate of rural children was 51.89%, and the rate of behavioral problems was 23.37%. Each dimensional score of neglect among children with behavioral problems was higher than those without behavior preblems, and the difference was statistically significant (t=2.77,4.05,2.95,2.44,3.01,2.71,P<0.05). Emotional neglect was correlated with all factors in behavioral preblems, except phychosomation fact (r=0.18,0.80,0.15,0.14,0.19,P<0.05). Neglect in educational was correlated with all factors in behavioral factors except anxiety and hyperactivity (r=0.06,0.05,0.62,0.08,P<0.05).
Conclusion
Neglect of children aged 3-6 years in rural areas of Urumqi is more prominent and behavioral problems are more common, which should be paid more attention by relevant departments and parents.
7.Serum levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 and growth factor binding protein-3 in children with acute lymphocytic leukemia.

OBJECTIVETo study serum levels and clinical significance of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP-3) in children with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL).
METHODSSerum samples were obtained from 36 children with ALL before treatment and 6 months after complete remission. Thirty children with surgical diseases severed as the control group. Serum IGF-1 levels were measured using radioimmunoassay (RIA). Serum IGFBP-3 levels were measured using immunoradioassays (IRMA).
RESULTSSerum levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in the ALL group were 19±4 ng/mL and 1216±132 ng/mL, respectively before treatment, which were lower than those in the control group (32±3 ng/mL and 2104±191 ng/mL respectively) (P<0.01). Serum levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in the ALL group increased to 30±3 ng/mL and 1941±164 ng/mL respectively 6 months after complete remission, which were significantly higher than those before treatment (P<0.01) and were similar to the levels of the control group.
CONCLUSIONSSerum levels of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 are reduced in children with ALL, but increase significantly after complete remission, suggesting that IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 might serve as useful markers for the diagnosis and evaluation of therapeutic effects of childhood ALL.

9.Comparative study of endoluminal ultrasonography and spiral computed tomography in preoperative staging of rectal carcinoma.

OBJECTIVETo compare the efficacy of endoluminal ultrasonography (EUS) and spiral computed tomography (SCT) in preoperative staging of rectal carcinoma.
METHODSBoth EUS and SCT were performed prior to surgery in 68 patients with rectal carcinoma. After radical surgery, the preoperative findings were compared with histologic findings of the operative specimens, and the efficacy of EUS and SCT in staging the rectal carcinoma were evaluated.
RESULTSFor T stage, EUS accuracy was 86.8%, while SCT was 70.6%. The difference was significant (P<0.05). For N stage, EUS accuracy was 67.6% and SCT was 63.2%. The difference was not significant (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONEUS is superior to SCT for the judgement of tumor infiltration depth, but neither is able to provide satisfactory assessment of lymph node metastases.

10.Association of two exonic genetic polymorphisms in the DNA repair gene XPC with risk of lung cancer in Chinese population.

OBJECTIVETo explore the relationship between two exonic polymorphisms of DNA repair gene XPC and the susceptibility to lung cancer.
METHODSGenotypes were determined by the primer introduced restriction analysis-PCR(PIRA-PCR) and the PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) approaches, respectively, in 320 histologically-confirmed lung cancer cases and 322 age and sex frequency-matched cancer-free controls.
RESULTSMultivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that individuals carrying at least one 499Val variant allele (Ala/Val + Val/Val genotypes) had a significantly increased risk for lung cancer (adjusted OR=1.54; 95%CI: 1.11-2.14), compared with the wild-type genotype (499Ala/Ala). Furthermore, individuals with both putative risk genotypes had a significantly higher risk (adjusted OR=2.55; 95%CI: 1.45-4.52), compared with those with both wild-genotypes. In addition, a potential super multiplicative gene-environment interaction between Ala499Val genotypes and smoking on lung cancer risk was unveiled. The odds ratios of lung cancer for individuals with both putative risk genotypes were 2.63 (95%CI=1.23-5.62) in nonsmokers and 7.36 (95%CI=3.19-17.0) in smokers, respectively.
CONCLUSIONThese findings support the hypothesis that these two XPC variants may contribute to the risk of developing lung cancer.
