Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2004;10(12):726-728
ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of hyperbric oxygen (HBO) on infarct volume and relevant mechanism after permanent focal cerebral ischemia in adult rats.MethodsRat model of focal cerebral ischemia induced by intraluminal filament occlusion of middle cerebral artery (MCA) was used. HBO(2.0 ATA) was applied to HBO group. Infarct volume, matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) and MMP-9 were detected at 6h, 24h, 48h, 72h,120h and 10d after ischemia.ResultsThe infarct volume obviously decreased at 120h and 10d and expression of MMP-9 lowered at 48—120h in HBO groups. There was no significant change in MMP-2.Conclusion HBO can reduce infarct volume after cerebral ischemia, which may be related to downregulation of MMP-9 levels.

Objective To promote preventive and therapeutic measures for osteoporosis by investigating the prevalence of low bone mineral density (BMD) in connective tissue disease patients who were taking corticosteroid and identify the associated risk factors of osteoporosis. Methods Thirty-eight female patients who had connective tissue diseases and were taking corticosteroid in PU MCH rheumatology outpatient clinic were studied and followed up from Oct 2006 to April 2007.Lumber spine and right femoral bone mineral density were determined bv dual energy X ray absortiometry (DEXA).Clinical information was obtained from a questionnaire of history and medical records.Duration and accumulative dosage of glucocorticoid intaking.menopause time were obtained retrospectively.Correlation analysis between BMD and clinical information was conducted. Results ① In 38 patients,23 (61%) patients showed a normal BMD,10 (26%) were osteopenia,3 (8%) were iu the osteoporotic range, while 2 patienLs (53%) had fragile fracture.② Compared with patients with normal BMD,subjects with low BMD had significantly older age, longer period after menopause and higher accumulated dose of corticosteroids.③ Postmenopausal women had significantly lower BMD in lumber and hip than premenopausal women.④ Either of vertebral and right hip BMD correlated negatively with the accumulated dosage of cortieosteroids by simple linear regression.⑤ The correlation between BMD and accumulated dosage of corticosteroids improved after correcting for the effect of age by partial correlation analysis (Pearson partial vertebral r=-0.8,P=0.009;right hip r=-0.3,P=0.010).⑥ A stepwise multivariate linear regression model was constructed to explore the relationship between the different clinicsl factors studied and a low BMD.Two statistically significant variables were menopause status (P=0.0000) and a higher steroid accumulated dosage (P=0.008).Conclusion Low BMD is common in connective tissue disease patients receiving corticosteroid.Risk factors for low BMD are postmenopause.duration and the accumulated dosage of glucocorticosteroid. The high prevalence of low BMD implies that more attention should be paid to the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and fractures in connective tissue disease patients who are taking corticosteroids.

Orthopedic Journal of China 2006;0(06):-
[Objective]To explore the clinic results of the locking compression plate fixation for the acetabular fractures.[Method]Twenty-three patients were treated in the author's department, 16 of them were male and 7 were female patients. The ages ranged from 21 to 61 years, and mean age was 43.3 years.Ninteen patients had been injured in an automobile accident,3 were fell from height and 1 was crushed by a heavy object. The patients were classified according to Letournel classification. There were 7 anterior column fractures,3 posterior wall fractures,5 anterior wall fractures,2 transverse fractures,1 anterior column and posterior column fracture,1 T shape fracture, 3 posterior wall and posterior column fractures,1 transverse and posterior wall fracture.[Result]All the incisions healed during the primary procedure and all the patients were available at follow-up ranging from 3 to 24 months(average 20.1 months). The average intraoperation time was 123 minutes(50~235 minutes),and the intraoperative blood loss was 100 to 1500 ml.The patinents underwent blood transfusion from 0 ml to 1 200 ml.According to Matt's criteria, the rate of excellent and good was 73.9%(17/23).[Conclusion]The locking compression plate fixation is one of the effective methods for treatment of acetabular fractures, with the advantages of being simple and minimally traumatic.

Microbiology 1992;0(02):-
Microbial selective side-chain degradation of phytosterol, which can obtain the steroid medicine intermediate compounds-androst-4-ene-3,17-dione (4-AD) and androsta-1,4-diene-3,17-dione (ADD),has an important meaning to pharmacy. There is no systematic literature concerned in existence. Its mechnism, approaches, influencing factors and so on over these years were fully reviewed in the paper. The trend of development in the area is expanded.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of Batroxobin and Urokinase on brain of diabetic rats following focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury. To investigate the preventive mechanism of Batroxobin following focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury in diabetic rats after thrombolysis therapy.MethodsDiabetic rat was induced by administrating streptozotocin intraperitoneally. Rat model of focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury induced by intraluminal filament occlusion of middle cerebral artery(MCA) that removed 2h later was used. Batroxobin and Urokinase were administrated intravenously in different groups. Infarct volume, cerebral hemorrhage and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2,MMP-9 were detected at 2h,24h,48h after ischemia and reperfusion injury.ResultsThe significant decrease of infarct volume were observed in Batroxobin and Urokinase groups. There were 5 rats observed cerebral hemorrhage in Urokinase group and no cerebral hemorrhage in Batroxobin group. The number of MMP-2 and MMP-9 positive cells in Batroxobin and Batroxobin Urokinase groups decreased compared with saline and Urokinase groups. ConclusionBatroxobin can decrease the infarct volume significantly without the complication of cerebral hemorrhage after ischemia and reperfusion injury in diabetic rats, which maybe relate to down regulation of the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9.

Objective To compare the displayed inner diameter of coronary stent by high definition(HD)and gem?stone spectral imaging(GSI)using dynamic cardiac and coronary artery phantom. Methods Five different types of coro?nary stents(internal diameter, 3.10 mm±0.55 mm;strut thickness, 0.12 mm±0.04 mm)were placed into a pulsating cardiac phantom(ALPHA 1-VT PC, Fuyo Corporation, Japan). The stent phantom was scanned by 3 systems, gemstone spectral im?aging(GSI), spiral scan(S)and HD. All the spectral imaging data were analyzed using GSI viewer to reconstruct the VMS (monochromic spectral) images(60-140 keV). Image noise(N), signal-to-noise ratio(SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio(CNR) and inner diameter were compared between images acquired through these 3 systems. Results SNRs in images of S and HD were higher than that of GSI(P<0.05),while there were no significant differences in CNRs among images of GSI, S and HD(P>0.05). The visible diameter(%)measurements of HD(0.85 ± 0.06)was significant higher than that of the other 2 scan systems and most close to the width of those stent’s actual size.(GSI:0.40±0.16, 0.48±0.13, 0.50±0.14, 0.51±0.13, 0.45±0.05,0.52±0.13, 0.53±0.13, 0.53±0.13, 0.53±0.13, S:0.53±0.14, P<0.05). Conclusion There was no significant dif?ferences in image quality among the images acquired by these 3 systems when the heart rate was set to 60 beats per min. Comparing to GSI and S, HD can produce best represent images to the known inner diameter of coronary stent.
