Objective To assess the long term effects of combined oral contraceptive pills use on the mean of serum TG, TC, HDL C, LDL C, ApoA1, ApoB and Lp(a). Methods The study was carried out in 446 women grouped as combined norethisterone containing ethinylestradiol (EE) 35 ?g and norethisterone 625 ?g; combined 18 metayl norethisterone (norgestrel) containing EE 30 ?g and 18 metayl norethisterone 300 ?g for using 5～25 years, and control subjects wearing IUD for the corresponding period. The three groups were similar in age, body mass index (BMI), continued period of contraceptives use and income. Results The data showed that changes of varying degree of lipid and lipoprotein parameters were obvious in women of long term taking low dose combined norethisterone and norgestrel, compared with the control. To explore the clinical value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in differentiating benign and malignant focal liver lesions (FLLs) with SonoVue, CEUS was used to examine 113 patients with focal liver lesions (FLLs) in our hospital during July 2005 to December 2006. All the patients underwent contrast-enhanced CT (CECT) or contrast-enhanced MRI (CEMRI). Except for patients with focal fatty sparings (n=18) and with hemangiomas (n=8), all the patients were confirmed by operation or ultrasonic-guided liver puncture biopsy. A sulfur hexafluoride gas-based contrast agent was used with a MI of 0.15 to 0.17. Forty-eight cases of malignant FLLs, including 30 hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs), 2 cholangiocarcinomas and 16 metastatic tumors, were detected. Seventy-eight cases of benign FLLs, including 33 hemangiomas, 9 focal nodular hyperplasias (FNHs), 19 focal fatty sparings, 5 abscesses, 7 regenerative nodules and 2 inflammatory pseudo-tumor, were involved. The contrast pattern of benign and malignant FLLs was quite different. CEUS has higher specificity and sensitivity than conventional ultrasound in differentiating benign and malignant FLLs.

Objective To evaluate the treatment methods of endophthalmitis after IOL implantation. Design Retrospective case series. Participants 15 patients with endophthalmitis after IOL implantation treated by Beijing Xuanwu Hospital in 2002-2008. Meth-ods Vancomycin was injected into vitreous cavity in all patients. Vitrectomy was performed on the patient whose infective bacteria could not be controlled by intravitreal injection. Main outcome measures Infective status, visual function, results of microbiological exami-nation. Result Endophthalmitis occured in 13 cases (86.6%) after 72 hours of cartaract surgery. Microbiological examination was per-formed on 15 cases (aqueous or vitreous sample), 6 cases showed positive results, in which 4 cases were staphylococcus epidermidis. The infection of 12 patients (80%) were controlled with intravitreal injection and 10 patients gained final visual acuity better than 0.1. Three patients received vitrectomy because infective bacteria can not be controlled. Conclusion Staphylococcus epi. may be the major cause of subacute endophthalmitis after cartaract surgery. Antibiotics injected immediately into vitreous cavity can control the infections in most cases.(Ophthalmol CHN, 2009, 18: 270-272)

Aim To select the ideal experimental rats model for research on prevention and treatment of Hyperlipidemia.Methods Five prescriptions on experimental hyperlipidemia-rats were selected and emulsion was made.At 10、20、30 d blood samples were taken from ocular orbit and content of CHO、 LDL、 HDL 、TG in the serum were measured.Results Four of the five prescriptions could lead to the disorder of lipid metabolism at different levels.Conclusion An ideal experimental rats model of hyperlipidemia can be made if bile salt and propylthiouracil are conbined to add to the fat emulsion of lard and cholesterol.

AlM: To discuss the application effect of surgical simulator to improve the microsurgical skills in junior ophthalmologist. METHODS: Lecture teaching, training in surgical simulator and operation in animal eyes were received in all these ophthalmologists. Results of the ability of operation in cataract surgery after this training were analyzed. RESULTS: After taught theory, students completed cataract surgical procedures on simulator and the mean test score was 75. 91 ± 6. 53 points. After trained on simulator repeatedly, the mean test score was 85. 57±4. 64 points. There was statistically significant difference ( P<0. 01) . During the third stage of practicing on animal eyes, the score was 89. 77 ± 7. 61 points, there was statistically significant difference compared with former two stages (P<0. 05).CONCLUSlON: Comprehensive training can improve microsurgical skills of junior ophthalmologist, but the long effect need to be observed.

Objective To explore the clinical effect of microgranular fat obtained by mechanical injection of autologous fat tissues in the treatment of lacrimal trough deformity.Methods Ten patients in this group were women,and the average age was 28 years.With tumescent technique,the thigh fat granules were aspirated;after the separation and purification using cell sorting screen,fat particles were obtained with uniform size and without fibrous tissue.Through mechanical pushing of the fat particles,the fat granules became chylomicron-like.The fat particles without fibrous tissue were injected into the superficial layer and deep layer of the orbicularis oculi muscle with depressed deformity.3-12 months after operation,the clinical efficacy was evaluated by doctors,patients and the third party.Results In 10 cases of lacrimal groove deformity,9 cases were transplanted once,and 1 case did twice.After 3 to 12 months follow-up the appearance of tear trough deformity was significantly improved,the texture of the ditch of eyelid and cheek skin was soft,and appeared young plump appearance.There were no complications,such as infection,hematoma,fat liquefaction,pigmentation and induration,and satisfactory results were obtained.Conclusions Ultrafine particles of fat are obtained using improved purification method in the treatment of lacrimal groove deformity,and the efficacy is satisfactory.

OBJECTIVETo establish social stress induced depression-like model in mice of C57BL/6 strain, and to assess its reliability using differenf behavioral methods.

METHODSTotally 20 male mice of C57BL/6 strain were divided into the normal group and the stress model group by random digit table,10 in each group. Another 10 CD1 mice were subjected to social stress. Mice in the normal control group received no stress, while those in the model group received social stress for 10 successive days. Behavioral assessment was performed using social interaction test (SIT), the elevated plus-maze (EPM) test, tail suspension test (TST), respectively. Serum cortisol level was detected by ELISA to assess the reliability of the model.

RESULTSIn the social interaction test when the social target (CDI mice) was inexistent, mice in the normal control group spent longer time in the social interaction zone and less time in the corner zone (P < 0.05); mice in the model group spent less time in the social interaction zone and more time in the corner zone (P < 0.05). Compared with the normal group when CDI mice existed, mice in the model group spent less time in the social interaction zone and more time in the corner zone (P < 0.05). Compared with the normal control group, the total times for entry into open arms, close arms, and the maze were obviously reduced (P < 0.05), and the proportion of entering open arms was significantly reduced (P < 0.05) in the model group. In TST, the motionless time within the last 4 mm was prolonged in the model group (P < 0.05). The serum cortisol level in the model group was obviously elevated (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONSocial stress induced depression-like animal model in mice of C57BL/6 straineasquite reliable and possibly suitable to be used in integrative medicine research of combination of disease and syndrome model.

Objective To discuss the application of Occupational Functioning Model (OFM) in occupational therapy teaching. Methods The students in grade 2009 and 2010 for their course of Occupational Therapy Clinical Application were included. The former were taught in routine way, and the latter were taught with OFM. They were investigated with questionnaires of satisfaction of course and teaching. Results There were 94.1% of the students felt beneficial in the clinical thinking, 86.3% in the comprehensive quality. There was more in the grade 2010 than 2009 of students reported to be benefited in such as guidance of the occupation mode for the clinical practice, independent thinking, clinical thinking, and the capability of evaluation and plan of systemic rehabilitation (P<0.05). Conclusion OFM may help students to understand occupational therapy deeply, develop the clinical thinking, and improve the comprehensive quality.
