Korean Journal of Dermatology 1992;30(1):109-114
The abdominal manifestations of tuberous sclerosis are most frequently related to hamartomas of the kidneys which are readily detectable on CT scans because of their fat content. However, lipomas or angiomyolipomas of the liver are quite rare. Two patients with angiomyolipomas of the kidney had typical kin lesions of tuberous sclerosis. Orie had been on long-term dialysis for chronienal failure due to an angiomyolipomatous lesions and the other had undergone nephrectomy because of nonfunction kidney. Hepatic hamartomas were also seen in both atients. We should anticipate that such masses are not infrequent with uberous sclerosis.

Cutis verticis gyrata(CVG) is an unusual conformation of the scap characterized by the presence of folds and furrows due to thickening of the corium and the subutlneous tissue. In sccordance with etiological factor and associated findings, CVG occurs as primarary disease or secondary to a variety of local or systemic diseases. Cerebriform intradermal nevus(CIN) is a cause of CVG that can usually be recognized clinically and for a certainty histologically. We report two cases of CVG due to CIN. Not only did they have CVG due to CIN on the scalp, but also they had associated congenital nevi on the face and whole boispy, respectively.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1989;27(4):347-351
Skin lipids are a major constituent of the epidermal barrier, impermeable to a great extent to many chemicals. The barrier cspacity of the skin must be diminished by its delipidization through extract of the fatty material. The objectives of this study were to determine the degree that lipids and proteins contribute to the binding of straturn corneum in percutaneous penetration of hydrocortisone following skin delipidization. The binding capacity of C-hydrocortisone partitioned to powdered stratum corneum without delipidization in 10 human subjects was 1,554.34+/-357.48 dpm, and when delipidization, was 2,234.68+/-761.12 dpm. The partitioning rate was 0.38% in powdered stratum corneum without delipidization in 10 subjects, and when with ddipidization, was 0.55%. The result that the binding capacity of hydrocortisone to stratum corneum with delipidization increased more than without delipidization are statistically significant (p<0.05).

Annals of Dermatology 1994;6(2):124-129
BACKGROUND: Herpes recurrences coincide with changes in the immunologic status of the patient, particularly in respect of cell mediated immunity (CMI),, and it has been represented that thymopentin(TP) induces a wide range of immunoregulatory effects. OBJECTIVE: Relapses of herpes simplex seem to depend on the relationship between the cellular immune mechanisms and the virus in its latent phase, therefore immunomodulatory therapy may represent an alternative approach. In this respect, thymopentin may have the potential to become a valuable drug for prophylactic use in patients with recurrent herpes simplex. METHODS: Patients with moderate to severe herpes simplex(a relapse rate of at least 6 times/year) were treated with subcutaneous injection of thymopentin 50mg three times weekly for 6 consecutive weeks. The study consisted of a 6-week therapy and a subsequent 1 year follow-up on average. RESULTS: Fourteen of sixteen patients with herpes simplex improved as demonstrated by a reduction in the relapse rate, shorter duration of episodes and improvement in symptoms such as itching or pain. Four patients did not experience a relapse for more than 1 year after cessation of therapy. In this study, the duration of the symptom-free period increased and the average number of relapses per year was reduced. CONCLUSION: Thymopentin is a highly effective drug, capable of positively influencing recurrent herpetic episodes and reducing the relapse rate.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1995;33(2):384-389
Epidermal cysts may develop on any part of the body. Most of them are thought to occur following inflammation of the epithelium of the hair follicle. These found on the palm and sole where the hair follicle is absent have been considered to developmant of following a traumatic inclusion of the epidermis into the Dermis. Because only a few cases w re known to be related to preceding trauma, the latter assumption has been questioned. Reerly, the HPV-like virions and papillomavirus genus-speciric antigen were detected in the epicrml cyst of the sole in some reports. 1 our cases of plantar epidermal cyst were studied for the presence of human papillomavirus using conventional histologic and immunohistochemical examinator Histologic examination showed three characteristic findings, that is, intracytoplasmic eosinophil odies in the cyst wall, parakeratosis within the cyst caviti, and vacuolar structures disperse the wall and cavity. In all of the cases, immunohistochernical staining was positive for papule evirus antigen. These findings suggest an etiologic as.iation between the papillomavirus infection and plantar epidermal cyst.

Child Health Nursing Research 2013;19(1):12-20
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors associated with suspicious developmental delay in infants and early childhood. METHODS: Participants were 133 infants, aged from birth to 6 years old and their mothers, who were being seen at 16 Public health centers in B city. Korean Denver II was used to test infant development. chi2-test, Fisher's exact test and multiple logistic regression were used with SPSS 19.0 to analyze data. RESULTS: Of participant infants, 7.5% were below the 3rd percentile for the weight percentile, 8.4% is a weight curve that crosses more than 2 percentile lines on the growth charts after previous achievement, and 9.8% had suspicious developmental delay according to Korean Denver II. Further the predictive factors related to suspicious development delay in the children were decrease of weight percentile (Odds Ratio [OR]=6.69, Confidence Interval [CI])=1.22-36.45), low economic state (OR=6.26, CI=1.50-26.00), and developmental delay perceived by their mothers (OR=4.99, CI=1.24-20.06). CONCLUSION: It is necessary to build a government level system to follow management of development of infants and children from the time of birth. Especially, it is necessary to develop a program for children in low income families.

Annals of Dermatology 1991;3(2):133-137
Cytophagic histiocytic panniculitis(CHP) is a histiocytic disorder that was first described by Winkelmann and Crotty in 1980. We have recently experienced a case of CHP is a 21-year-old female who had developed recurrent fever and erythematous tender subcutaneous nodules, progressing to liver dysfunction and hemorrhagic diathesis. Histopathologically, infiltrates of large cytophagic histiocytes lacking atypia were present in the subcutis. Hemophagocytic histiocytes were observed in the bone marrow. Immunohistochemical studies were performed, and revealed positive immunoreactivity for lysozyme and T cell marker in the subcutaneous inflammatory lesions.
