Medication has become the first-line option for the management of lower urinary tract symptoms induced by benign prostatic hyperplasia (LUTS/BPH) for its advantages in controlling the symptoms, inhibiting BPH progression, and reducing serious complications and surgical risks. Recent years have witnessed remarkable achievement in the studies of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5-Is) in the treatment of LUTS/BPH. PDE5-Is can effectively alleviate LUTS/BPH, with even better efficacy when combined with al-ARAs.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2009;13(4):793-796
BACKGROUND:Knowledge of retropedtoneal space communications might influence catheter placement, and understanding the normal anatomy of the retroperitoneal space is a prerequisite for predicting the distribution of inflammation or other fluid collections in this region. Until recent years, the media/ attachment of the posterior renal fascia remained controversial. The multiple detector spiral CT can show the abdominal anatomic details. So,using the multiple-detector spiral CT to study the anatomy of posterior renal fascia has clinical significance. OBJECTIVE:To describe the medial attachment of the posterior renal fascia by using multiple-detector spiral CT. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A retrospective case analysis was performed at Department of Radiology,Affiliated Hospital of Weifang Medical College between June 2003 and November 2007. PARTICIPANTS:A total of 52 patients with retropedtoneal inflammatory diseases were retrospectively reviewed through analysis of their CT data. METHODS:Toshiba Akuilion 16-detector spiral CT was employed for scanning. Of the 52 patients,15 were proved by clinical and laboratory findings and 37 were proved by surgery and pathology. Among the 52 patients,17 suffered from appendicitis,1 from ureteritis,2 from abscesses in the perirenal space,3 from abscesses in the posterior pararenal space, and 29 from pancreatltis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Medial attachment of the bilateral posterior renal fascia. RESULTS:At the level of the upper pole of kidney, the posterior renal fascia fused with the fascia of the ipsilateral quadratus lumborum muscle. Forty-six patients manifested the attachment site of the left posterior renal fascia transforming from the quadratus lumborum muscle fasciae to the psoas major muscle fascia at the level of the lower pole of kidney or the infrarenal space. Fifty patients showed the attachment site of the right posterior renal fascia transforming from the quadratus lumborum muscle fascia to the psoas major muscle fascia at the level of the lower pole of kidney or the infrarenal space. CONCLUSION:The posterior renal fascia attachment site is not the same all the time. At different levels, the attachment site of the posterior renal fascia is distinct.

Objective To investigate the effects of C-terminal fragment of parathyroid hormonerelated protein (PTHrP107-139) on bone mineral density (BMD), bone histomorphometry and biomechanical properties in ovariectomized (OVX) rats and its effect on bone metabolism is also explored. Methods Forty 4-month old female Wistar rats in which 30 were ovariectomized and then divided into 3 groups: the placebo, the PTHrPC and the CT groups, the other 10 rats were Sham-operated as the control group (Sham). Five weeks later, the rats of PTHrPC and CT groups were subcutaneously injected with PTHrP107-139 (40 μg/kg) and Salmon Calcitonin (15 U/kg) respectively once every other day. The rats of the placebo and sham groups were injected with 0.2 ml saline once every other day. After treatment of 12 weeks, all rats were sacrificed and all samples were collected and analyzed. Results ① Compared with the placebo, the BMD and bone strength of PTHrPC and CT groups were significantly increased (P<0.05). ② Histomorphometry revealed that the tetracycline labeled bone surfaces, osteoid surfaces, mineral apposition rate and bone resorption rate were remarkably decreased in PTHrPC, and CT groups comparing with those of the placebo group. Conclusion Cter-minal PTHrP107-139 is effective in increasing the BMD, bone strength and quality when administered intermittently to ovariectomy-induced osteoporotic rats. Its increasing in bone quality may relate to reducing bone turnover and inhibiting resorption.

Objective To evaluate a minimally invasive procedure for intertrochanteric fracture treatment in elderly patients. Methods Total 46 elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture were treated with a minimally invasive procedure from September 2008 to February 2010. The fractures were fixed with multiple K-wires combined with skeletal traction through supracondyle of femur. All procedures were undertaken under local anesthesia. Results All the patients were followed up for 8.8-months in average, and 42 patients recovered with independent walking, and the good rates was 91.3%, without severe complications in this group. Conclusions Minimally invasive procedure including fixation with multiple K-wires combined with traction through femoral supracondyle, is a safe and effective treatment for intertrochanteric fracture in elderly patients, avoiding high risks of intra-and post-operative complications.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2022;34(10):1064-1069
Objective:
To investigate the prevalence of intention to smoke and current smoking and identify its influencing factors among middle school students in Ningbo City, so as to provide insights into the development and implementation of tobacco control among adolescents.
Methods:
The epidemiological data of tobacco use among adolescents in Ningbo City in 2021 were collected, including demographics, tobacco use, parents' and close friends' smoking status, secondhand smoke exposure and tobacco advertisement exposure. The intention to smoke, current smoking, secondhand smoke exposure and tobacco advertisement exposure were descriptively analyzed among middle school students, and the factors affecting intention to smoke, current smoking were identified using a multivariable logistic regression analysis.
Results:
Totally 1 591 questionnaires were allocated to middle school students, and 1 574 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective recovery rate of 98.93%. The respondents included 787 junior high school students, 535 high school students and 252 vocational high school students, and the prevalence was intention to smoke and current smoking was 6.73% and 1.78% among the respondents, respectively. Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified boys (OR=2.398, 95%CI: 1.466-3.922), high school students (OR=2.051, 95%CI: 1.212-3.470), vocational high school students (OR=2.011, 95%CI: 1.108-3.650), more than 100 yuan disposable pocket money per week (OR=2.534, 95%CI: 1.301-4.935) and close friends' smoking (OR=4.310, 95% CI: 2.755-6.757) as risk factors of intention to smoke, and boys (OR=12.420, 95%CI: 1.645-93.753), close friends' smoking (OR=11.628, 95%CI: 4.348-31.250) and parents' smoking (OR=2.667, 95%CI: 1.029-6.897) as risk factors of current smoking among middle school students. The prevalence of secondhand smoke exposure and tobacco advertisement exposure was 76.43% and 51.65%, and television/video/cinema was the most likely route of tobacco advertisement exposure (42.06%).
Conclusions
The prevalence of intention to smoke and current smoking is low among middle school students in Ningbo City; however, the proportions of exposure to secondhand smoke and tobacco advertisement are relatively high. Tobacco control interventions are recommended to be intensified targeting high-risk populations, such as vocational high school students.
