AIM: To evaluate the accuracy of central conreal thickness ( CCT ) using EX500 Excimer Laser workstation (EX500) in laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) patients.METHODS:The CCT of 120 eyes (63 patients) who had LASIK between January 2013 and June 2013 were measured by A- scan and EX500. Three groups were classified: >550μm, 500 ~550μm, <500μm according the CCT value of A-scan. The CCT were measured again by corneal flap creating by moria SBK microkeratome. The thickness of the corneal bed stroma were measured by A-scan and EX500 after keratomileusis. All outcomes were analyzed with paired t test.
RESULTS: The average preoperative CCT value was 527. 9±34. 3μm measured by A-scan, 528. 5±34. 6μm measured by EX500. There was no significant difference between these two measurements (t=1. 736, P=0. 085). In group which CCT >550μm, the average preoperative CCT value was 571. 4±17. 3μm measured by A-scan, 572.7±15. 7μm measured by EX500. There was no significant difference between these two measurements (t=1. 857, P=0. 072). In group which CCT 500 ~ 550μm, the average preoperative CCT value was 523. 4±13. 1μm measured by A-scan, 524. 2±12. 4μm measured by EX500. There was no significant difference between these two measurements ( t=1. 934, P = 0. 058 ). In group which CCT <500μm, the average preoperative CCT value 484. 5±9.8μm measured by A-scan, 483. 7±8. 9μm measured by EX500. There was no significant difference between these two measurements (t=1. 395, P=0. 174). The average CCT value after corneal flap lifting was 401. 3 ± 34. 2μm measured by A-scan, 393. 4±38. 9μm measured by EX500. There was a significant difference between these two measurements ( t = 6. 669, P = 0. 000 ). The average thickness of the corneal bed stroma value after keratomileusis was 332. 6±38. 3μm measured by A-scan, 307. 3 ± 37. 1μm measured by EX500. There was a significant difference between these two measurements ( t=17. 165, P=0. 000).
CONCLUSION: There is no significant difference between preoperative CCT value measured by A-scan and EX500. After corneal flap lifting and keratomileusis, the CCT value measured by EX500 is smaller than measured by A-scan.

AIM: To evaluate the changes of corneal high - order aberration (including Coma, Spab, RMSh) after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) with femtosecond laser, sub- Bowman keratomileusis ( SBK ) and laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK). METHODS: Of 82 myopic patients ( 164 eyes ), 31 patients (62 eyes) were treated by FS-LASIK, 31 patients (62 eyes) were treated by SBK, 20 patients (40 eyes) were treated by LASEK. Sirius system was used for measuring the coma aberration, spherical aberration, and high order aberration at 1, 15d,1, 3mo after surgery. RESULTS: 1) Vision: The uncorrected visual acuity of the three groups had no differences (P>0. 05). 2) Corneal aberrations: Three kinds of surgical procedure for patients with corneal aberration had significant impact. The C7, C8, C12 and RMSh of three groups were increased significantly (P<0. 05). The C7, C8, C12 and RMSh were not recovered to preoperative levels after 3mo. But the increase of patients after FS- LASIK was smaller than the other two groups, with statistical significance (P<0. 05). CONCLUSION: Compared with SBK and LASEK, FS - LASIK has better visual acuity in the early postoperative and corneal higher-order aberrations increase is relatively small.

Objective To observe the effects ofJingui Shenqi Pills on the expressions of TGF-β1, CYP19, sex hormone level and sperm quality; To discuss its mechanism for the treatment of male sterility. Methods Forty adult male SD rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, retardant group andJingui Shenqi Pills group, 10 rats in each group. Except for the normal group, adenine was used to induce healthy rats to kidney yang deficiency and sterility model rats. Normal group was given normal saline for gavage;retardant group was injected with testicular mesenchyme TGF-β1;Jingui Shenqi Pills group was givenJingui Shenqi Decoction for gavage. Blood was taken through caudal vein. Immunohistochemical, radioimmunoassay and electron microscopy observation were used to detect the expressions of TGF-β1, CYP19, sex hormone level, sperm density and motility rate and testicular morphological changes. Results Compared with normal group, the expression of TGF-β1 in the model group increased and CYP19 decreased (P<0.05). Compared with model group, the expression of TGF-β1 decreased and the expression of CYP19 increased (P<0.05). Compared with normal group, the number of sperm quantity was small and paramorphia in model group (P<0.05). Compared with model group, T, E2, sperm density and motility rate increased significantly inJingui Shenqi Pills group and retardant group (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance among indexes in retardant group andJingui Shenqi Pills group.ConclusionJingui Shenqi Pills can improve sperm quality and sex hormone level of model rats with kidney-yang-deficiency, which mechanism is probably realized by inhibiting the expression of TGF-β1R and promoting the expression of CYP19 in testis to effect development and proliferation of sperm.

Objective To discuss the clinical outcome of the modified super large dorsal metacarpal artery flap in reconstruction of circumferential fingertip avulsion. Methods Twenty-four patients with circumferential fingertip avulsion were treated by the modified super large dorsal metacarpal artery flap from January 2004 to August 2008. There were six index fingers, 11 middle fingers, five ring fingers and two little fingers with surface defects beyond the distal interphalangeal joint and the distal degloving length ranged from 0.8 cm to 3.1 cm. Emergency operation was performed on 22 fingers and stage Ⅱ surgery was done for distal skin necrosis of two fingers. Results Twenty-one patients with 21 fingers were followed up for 6-28 months, which showed that all flaps survived, with satisfactory appearance and function, and that the point discrimination of flap was for 6-9 mm ( average 7.6 mm). Conclusion Modified super large dorsal metacarpal artery flap is an ideal method for reconstruction of the circumferential fingertip avulsion with advantages of easiness, convenience and short treatment period.

Cooperation hydrogen production was carried out using Rhodopseudomonas sp. DT and Enterobacter aerogenes. The effects of the initial ratio of Rhodopseudomonas sp. DT and E. aerogenes, culture temperature, and carbon source on the cooperation hydrogen production were investigated. The results suggested that cooperation hydrogen production rate was highly affected by the initial ratio of Rhodopseudomonas sp. DT and E. aerogenes. The mixed bacteria of Rhodopseudomonas sp. DT and E. aerogenes with 1:1 initial ratio benefited to the cooperation hydrogen production, which led the hydrogen production rate and duration of gas production to 3.1 mol H2/mol glucose and 81 h, respectively. The pH dynamics analysis of culture medium further discovered that the pH of the mixed bacteria with 1:1 initial ratio changed from 6 to 7 smaller than other conditions, which was probably fitted to produce hydrogen. Furthermore, the mixed bacteria with 1:1 initial ratio had the higher hydrogen production efficiency at temperatures of 28?C and 37?C than at 20?C, and without any hydrogen production at temperature of 50?C. The carbon sources of glucose, succinate acid, malic acid could be used to produce hydrogen by the mixed bacteria. Even the soluble starch, unused by Rhodopseudomonas sp. DT, was also decomposed by the mixed bacteria to produce hydrogen with the conversion efficiency of 8.22%. The glucose was the optimal carbon resource, and the conversion efficiency could reach to 36.11%. The results, further, implied that the cooperation hydrogen production could enlarge the use of the carbon sources.
