The suppressive effects of T. reglii on mouse cellular and humoral immune responses were studied. Lymphocyte proliferation effect induced with ConA,and PFC and OHS reactions with TD Ag(TNP-SRBC)were effectively suppressed by the drug. But the similar effects on LPS and TI Ag (TNP-SRBC) have not been found. The results shown that target cells of T. reglii effects may be T lymphocytes and the drug may not have a direct effect on B cells. The drug also shown a suppressive effect on IL-2 production by mouse spleen cells. The phenomenon suggests that the suppressive effects of T. reglii on humoral immune response may be indirectly mediated through suppressing helper T cells.

Objective To obtain the normal value of blink reflex(BR) in the elderly. Methods With clinical electrophysiological diagnostic technique, the orbital nerve was stimulated with electric current to elicit blink reflex in an elderly group (30 subjects, 60 sides) and an adult group (29 subjects, 58 sides). Results For the early response R 1 of BR in the elderly, the latency and amplitude were (10 28?0 39) ms,162 88 ?V. For the late response R 2 and R 2',the latency was (32 86?2 81) ms and (33 33?2 90) ms respectively; the amplitude was 210 72 ?V and 156 32 ?V respectively The difference of the latency between the elderly and adult was statistically significant. Conclusions This study indicates that BR measurement is a simple and harmless technique. The latency of BR was prolonged in the aged.

The mechanisms of general anesthesia, which was introduced about 170 years ago, remain poorly under- stood. Even less well understood are the effects of general anesthesia on the human body. Recently we identified 18 G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) genes of Daphnia pulex, an invertebrate model organism. Phylogenetic analysis identified these genes to be the homologs of the human γ-aminobutyric acid, type B (GABAB) receptor, metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluR), adrenergic receptor, serotonin (5-HT) receptor, dopamine receptor and muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR). Using reverse transcription and quantitative PCR techniques, we systematically measured the effects of propofol, etomidate and ethanol on these 18 GPCR mRNA expressions in Daphnia pulex.

Objective To explore the value of 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose (i8 F-FDG) PET/CT examination in the differential diagnosis of the gastric cancer and primary gastric lymphoma (PGL).Methods The clinical data of 80 patients with gastric cancer (60 with non-mucinous adenocarcinoma and 20 with mucinous adenocarcinoma) and 47 patients with PGL [22 with mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) and 25 with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)] who were admitted to the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital from June 2006 to May 2014 were retrospectively analyzed.Spiral CT scan was first done and then followed by PET.The CT value of the lesions,maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of patients and maximal gastrointestinal wall thickness (THKmax) were analyzed by the ANOVA test.The SUVmax comparison between groups was evaluated with the Student-Newman-Keuls.The lesions type was analyzed by the chi-square test.The THKmax and SUVmax among groups were analyzed by the Pearson correlation analysis.Results 18 F-FDG PET/CT imaging of patients with gastric cancer and PGL showed different types of gastric wall thickening,segmental and limited thickening of gastric wall were the main features of gastric cancer and diffuse and segmental thickening of gastric wall were the main features of PGL.The type Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ of lesions were detected in 12,21 and 27 of 60 patients with nonmucinous adenocarcinoma,in 2,7 and 11 of 20 patients with mucinous adenocarcinoma,in 8,8 and 6 of 22 patients with MALT and in 13,7 and 5 of 25 patients with DLBCL respectively.There were significant differences in the 4 pathological types of lesions among all the patients (x2 =14.849,P ＜ 0.05).The lymph nodes beneath the renal hilum and at the retroperitoneum were involved in 16 patients with gastric cancer and in 10 patients with PGL,and 7 patients with gastric cancer and 12 patients with PGL were complicated with splenomegalia,respectively,showing a significant difference in the splenomegalia between patients with PGL and gastric cancer (x2=7.506,P ＜0.05).There was no significant difference in the metastasis of lymph nodes beneath the renal hilum and at the retroperitoneum between patients with PGL and gastric cancer (x2=0.178,P ＞0.05).Among 80 patients with gastric cancer,positive 18F-FDG was detected in 79 patients and negative 18F-FDG in 1 patient with T3 stage of mucinous adenocarcinoma.Among 47 patients with PGL,positive 18 F-FDG was detected in 46 patients and negative 18F-FDG in 1 patient with stage Ⅰ of MALT.The CT value of the lesion,SUVmax and THKmax in patients with non-mucinous adenocarcinoma,mucinous adenocarcinoma,MALT and DLBCL were (40 ± 8)HU,(39±11)HU,(41±11)HU,(38±9)HU and 9.9 ±6.6,5.6±1.9,4.6 ±2.9,18.3±7.6 and (2.1 ± 1.2) cm,(1.9 ± 0.9) cm,(1.3 ± 1.1) cm and (2.6 ± 1.5) cm,respectively,showing significant differences in the SUVmax among all the groups (F =26.920,P ＜ 0.05).In the pairwise comparisons,there were no significant difference between the MALT group and mucinous adenocarcinoma group (P ＞ 0.05),and significant differences among the other groups (P ＜ 0.05).The CT value of the lesions and THKmax among all the patients were compared,with no significant differences (F =0.578,4.510,P ＞ 0.05).There were no significant differences in the SUVmax and THKmax among all the patients (r =0.055,0.346,0.226,0.133,P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions There is an important diagnosis value of PET/CT examination in patients with gastric cancer and PGL.The pathological types of the lesions in patients with gastric cancer and PGL are different.The occurrence of splenomegalia in patients with PGL is easier than that with gastric cancer.SUVmax of patients with DLBCL is higher than those with gastric cancer and MALT.FDG uptake in patients with mucinous adenocarcinoma and MALT are not enough,and these may lead to false negative result of PET/CT examination.

Objective To investigate the expressions of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), Akt and E-cadherin and their clinical significance in thyroid papillary carcinomas.Methods Expressions of PI3K, Akt, and E-cadherin were detected in 62 cases of thyroid papillary carcinomas,30 cases of thyroid goiter and 30 cases of normal thyroid by immunohistochemistry (EnVison),and simultaneously compared with age, sex, tumor size, clinical tumor node metastasis( TNM) stages, and lymph node metastasis in thy-roid papillary carcinomas.Results The expression rate of PI3K, Akt, and E-cadherin was 74.2%(46/62), 66.1%(41/62), 16.1%(10/62),respectively.Expressions of three proteins in thyroid papillary carcinomas were significantly different from those in thyroid goiter and normal thyroid tissues ( P <0.05). The lower positive rates of PI3K and Akt proteins were obtained in the group of stageⅠ~Ⅱthan that in the group of stageⅢ~Ⅳ(χ2 =4.976, P =0.026;χ2 =6.233, P =0.013).Higher positive rates of PI3K and Akt proteins were obtained in the group of lymph-node metastasis than that in group of non-lymph-node metastasis (χ2 =6.675, P =0.010;χ2 =7.511, P =0.006).Higher positive rate of E-cadherin protein was obtained in the group of stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ than that in the group of stage Ⅲ ~Ⅳ (χ2 =6.558, P =0.010 ) .Higher positive rate of E-cadherin proteins was obtained in the group of non-lymph-node metastasis than that in the group of lymph node metastasis(χ2 =5.678, P =0.017).There was significant positive correlation between expressions of PI3K and Akt through Spearman correlation analysis ( r =0.423, P <0.05).PI3K was negatively correlated with E-cadherin with Spearman correlation analysis ( r =-0.527, P <0.05).Akt was also negatively correlated with E-cadherin ( r =-0.417, P <0.05).Conclusions PI3K/Akt pathway might regulate thyroid papillary carcinoma cells proliferation, invasion and metastasis.

Objective:To investigate the value of magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography(MRCP)in the diagnosis of pancreas divisum by comparing with endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP).Methods:The MRCP and ERCP images of 8 patients with pancreas divisum were retrospectively analyzed.The diagnostic accuracy and findings by MRCP were compared with those by ERCP.Results:MRCP had a diagnostic accuracy of 87.5%(7/8)based on the result of ERCP.ERCP displayed the dominant dorsal pancreatic ducts in all 8 cases and ventral pancreatic ducts in 6 cases;MRCP also displayed the dominant dorsal pancreatic ducts in all 8 cases,but the ventral pancreatic ducts only in 3 cases.Conclusion:As a non-invasive technique,MRCP has important clinical value in the diagnosis of pancreas divisum.
