1.Inhibiting the expression of proinflammatory factors in human nasal epithelial cells by dexamethasone
Chinese Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery 2006;0(02):-
OBJECTIVE To observe the inhibition of the expression of HIF-1? and VEGF induced by LPS in primary human nasal epithelial cell (HNEC) by dexamethasone. METHODS Epithelial cells of nasal polyps (NP) and inferior turbinate (IT) were cultured without serum under stimulus of LPS 100 ng/ml, IL-1? 20 ng/ml, LPS 100 ng/ml +dexamethasone 13 ng/ml and IL-1? 20 ng/ml+ dexamethasone 13 ng/ml for 3h, 6h and 9h respectively. The expression of HIF-1?, VEGF protein and mRNA derived from epithelial cells was detected by immunocytochemistry and situ hybridization. RESULTS ①The expression of HIF-1? and VEGF increased under the stimulus of LPS and IL-1? with the increasing of time and concentration, especially under LPS 100 ng/ml for 6h (P

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2001;14(3):224-225
Objectives:To evaluate the efficiency of packing jaw defects with a composite of coral and bone marrow. Methods:Twelve patients (9 with jaw cyst and 3 with ameloblastoma) underwent enucleation of jaw lesion and packing with a composite of coral and bone marrow.Repair of the bone defects was evaluated at 1 week,1,6 and 12 months postoperatively by clinical examination and X-ray films. Results:Wound healing after the operations on 10 patients was uneventful, and definite ossification around the implanted material could be detected at 1 month postoperatively.A lot of bone formation and partial resorption of coral were observed at 6 months postoperatively.Complete resorption of coral and complete bone repair were obtained at 12 months postoperatively.Wound breakdown was observed on two other patients, and the composite had to be removed completely. Conclusions:A composite of coral and bone marrow may enhances bone healing in jaw defects after cyst or ameloblastoma removal.

Objective:To observe the influence of anisodamin on guinea pig experimental nasal hypersensitivity.Method:Experimental animals were divided into normal control group, TDI group, reserpine group and anisodamine group. The scores of symptom of nose and the cytologic changes of nasal mucosa were parameters of observing.Result:The nasal symptom of reserpine group was significantly stronger than the TDI group, and the eosinophilia evidently increased (both P<0.01).The nasal symptom of the anisodamine group reduced and the eosinophilia decreased. It is significantly difference between the TDI group and the reserpine group (both P<0.01).Conclusion:Anisodamine may play a role in therapy of the experimental nasal hypersensitivity with hyperfuction of parasympathetic nerve.

Objective: To study the expression of TNF\|α and CD68 in nasal polyps tissue and their significance. Methods. Paraffin sections of 19 nasal polyps and 8 chronic rhinitis samples were studied with immunohistochemical technique. Results. The expression of TNF\|α were stronger in nasal polyps tissues than that in controls. Numerous CD68 positive cells were found in epithelium laryer and in the lamina propria of nasal polyps. There were positive relationship between the expression of TNF\|α and that of CD68(r=0.615). Conclusion. It was suggested that activized macrophage as antigen\|presenting cell in the development of nasal polyps, may play a important role through upregulated TNF\|α′s synthesis and secretion.

Objective:To analyze the clinical manifestations and esophageal motility characteristics of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and extra-esophageal symptoms. Methods:From January 1 to October 30, 2018, at PLA Rocket Force Characteristic Medical Center, 180 hospitalized patients diagnosed with GERD and extra-esophageal symptoms were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into laryngopharyngeal symptom group (65 cases), airway symptom group (58 cases) and mixed symptom group (57 cases). General data, clinical symptoms, gastroscopic manitestations, the results of high-resolution esophageal manometry and 24-hour multichannel intraluminal impedance and pH monitoring of each group were analyzed and compared. Chi-square test and one-way analysis of variance were used for statistical analysis. Results:The patients aged <40, 40 to 60 and >60 years accounted for 12.8% (23/180), 53.3% (96/180) and 33.9% (61/180), respectively, and the difference was statistically significant ( χ2=12.030, P=0.017). There were 18.9%(34/180) of patients without typical reflux symptoms. There were statistically significant differences in the incidence of ectopic esophagogastric mucosa or Barrett esophagus under gastroscopy between laryngopharyngeal symptom group, airway symptom group and mixed symptom group (21.5%, 14/65; 5.2%, 3/58 and 8.8%, 5/57, respectively) ( χ2=8.578, P=0.014). There were no statistically significant differences in the lower esophageal sphincter pressure (LESP), upper esophageal sphincter pressure or distal contractile integral between laryngopharyngeal symptom group, airway symptom group and mixed symptom group ((8.57±0.76), (8.87±0.79), and (10.51±0.97) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa); (44.75±2.86), (42.81±4.06), and (39.14±3.20) mmHg; (506.13±64.30), (432.59±78.10), and (682.99±82.28) mmHg·s·cm)(all P>0.05). The DeMeester score of laryngopharyngeal symptom group , mixed symptom group and airway symptom group was (14.33±2.09), (21.94±5.30) and (30.47±5.85) points, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant ( F=3.226, P=0.043). The results of multi-channel impedance monitoring showed that acid reflux and weak acid reflux were the main reflux in the patients, which accounted for 55.5% (76/137) and 34.3% (47/137), respectively. Among 87.6% (120/137) of the patients, reflux mainly occurred in the upright position while 12.4% (17/137) of the patients had reflux in the supine position. Conclusions:The extra-esophageal symptoms of GERD is associated with age. Ectopic esophagogastric mucosa or Barrett esophagus are more common in GERD patients with laryngopharyngeal symptoms. There are more acid exposure and pathologic acid reflux in GERD mainly with airway symptoms. Weak acid reflux at upright position plays an important role in the reflux mechanism of GERD with extra-esophageal symptoms.

Objective To explore a new method of nasal tip plasty and its clinical effect, which is much accorded with biomechanical properties of the human body. Methods From June 2010 to March 2016,a total of 33 cases of nasal tip surgery,6 males and 27 females, were performed.Ages ranged from 22 to 46 years in this group.Ear cartilage was trimmed into two strips and sutured them together in a M shape. When located to the original position of the nasal alar cartilage, theM shaped cartilage could be used in nasal tip;when fixing part of it on the nasal septum or lengthened nasal septal cartilage, the M shaped cartilage could be used in cosmetic surgery of nasal tip lengthening. Results The follow-up period was from one month to 60 months, with average 14 months.29 patients (87.9 %) were satisfied with the efficacy and 2 patients were suffered from infection (6.1 %).Conclusions When the M-shaped cartilage is fixed with lengthened nasal septum,it can lengthen the nasal tip much more and the contouring and texture of nasal tip are better than that of using a shield or a cap cartilage graft.
