The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1995;30(4):1016-1020
Serum creatine phosphokinase(CPK) levels were measured serially in 20 adults with closed tibial shaft fractures, CPK activity increased significantly after fracture(p < 0.01). High energy and delayed healing fractures had significantly higher levels of CPK than low energy and normally healing fractures, respectively. Thus, CPK determinations could be used to assess the severity of trauma and possible prognosis of the healing in tibial shaft fractures.

2.A Study on the Effect of the Group Counseling Program Developed by Applying Reality Therapy on the Body Image and Depression of Adolescent Women.
Korean Journal of Child Health Nursing 2001;7(3):342-358
The purpose of the study is both to develope the group counseling program applying Reality Therapy, by which positive body image could be conceived by adolescent women, by helping them identify their bodies as what they are, and then admit their real bodies, and also find out some practical methodologies of self-esteem, and to verify the program to show how effectively this program can be applied to them. Data were collected by self-reported questionnaires(body image and depression) from 59 high school girls in Seoul who were selected by criteria of this study, from the 1st of September to 10th of November, 2000. The experimental group participated in the group counseling by applying Reality Therapy with 8 sessions for 4 weeks. Descriptive statistics, homogeneity test, hypothesis testing, reliability were performed statistically by utilizing SAS pc program, and additionally the reaction due to the change of body image by adolescent women was also analyzed. The results drawn through the present study are as follows: 1. A hypothesis that "adolescent women who participated in the group counseling program by applying Reality Therapy may get higher points on body image than adolescent women who did not participated" has been adopted (t=6.73, p=.000). 2. A hypothesis that "adolescent women who participated in the group counseling program by applying Reality Therapy may get lower points on depression than adolescent women who did not participated" has been adopted (t=5.28, p=.000). 3. After applying the group counseling program, the degree of depression for upper group who obtained higher preliminary points on depression has decreased rather meaningfully more than that for lower group who obtained higher preliminary points(t=5.58, p=.000). 4. Reactions associated with positive change in body image of adolescent women who participated in the group counseling program by applying Reality Therapy has been shown to be body acceptance, enhancement of self-esteem, and change of value judgment of beauty. 5. The difference in the motivation and attitude of each group has been observed, by analyzing the reactions obtained from those who show the highest change of body image and those who show the lowest change of body image through the group counseling program by applying Reality Therapy. According to the present studies, it can be concluded that the group counseling program by applying Reality Therapy has turned out as an effective strategy for nursing intervention for adolescent women, by helping them form positive body images and reducing depression.

A retrospective study was made of the previous medical records of 47 infants with congenital syphilis born from mothers with untreated syphilis at Severance Hospital, Yonsei University College of Medicine during the years 1972 through 1983 The VDRL titer of these infants was higher than 1: 8 with reactive FT.A-ABS test. They were subjectd to hematologic examinations and the results were as follow s, 1. Of 46 infants with congenital syphilis, anemia was observed in thirty-one (68%) Reticulocytosis occurred in seventeen(89%) of nineteen infants with congenital syphilis having the mean value of 6. 0%. 3, Of 4.7 infants with congenital syphilis, leucocytosis was noted in seveenteen 4, Thrombocytopenia was observed in twenty (64%) of thirty-one infants with congenital syphilis.

Journal of the Korean Society of Coloproctology 1998;14(4):709-718
PURPOSE: DNA mismatch repair gene is responsible for hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer. But it is not well known its role in sporadic colorectal cancer patients. We analysed normal hMSH2, hMLH1 protein expression in colorectal adenocarcinoma tissues and corresponding normal tissues to find out the role of mismatch repair gene in sporadic colorectal cancer by Western blotting. METHODS: Normal hMSH2 and hMLH1 protein expression was studied on 25 colorectal cancer and corresponding normal tissue by Western blot with hMSH2 and hMLH1 monoclonal antibody. Normal protein band was expressed on 100 kD in hMSH2 and 87 kD in hMLH1. SW480 and LoVo cell line was used as positive and negative control for hMSH2 and LoVo and SW480 as positive and negative for hMLH1. And we analysed the relation between the hMSH2, hMLH1 protein expression and clinicopathological parameters. RESULTS: It was 2 cases (8%) that both hMSH2 and hMLH1 protein expression was not observed. Three cases (12%) were negative for hMSH2 and 2 cases (8%) for hMLH1. One or both hMSH2, hMLH1 protein expression was not observed in 7 cases (28%) in total. There was no correlation for proximal occurrence (25% vs 35%), young age (37.5% vs 23.5%) and lymph node metastasis (50% vs 47%). But poorly and mucinous differentiation was regarded as having relation with negative expression of hMSH2 and hMLH1 (50% vs 17.6%) but not significant statistically. CONCLUSION: Sporadic colorectal cancer with negative expression of normal hMSH2 and hMLH1 protein showed no relation to younger age, proximal site preference and lymph node metastasis. But it was suggested that mismatch repair gene protein was involved in cancer cell differentiation in sporadic colorectal cancer.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1972;7(1):77-82
Sixty four leprous claw hands had been operated on for intrinsic replacement extensor-extensor many tailed at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Kyungpook National University Hospital during the period from 1966 to 1970. The follow up study was carried out for fourty-one hands from one year to four years and nine months after operation, and evaluated by the following assessments. 1. Fully open hand assessment 2. Lumbrical position assessment 3. Hook position assessment 4. Closed fist assessment 5. Mechanics of closing 6. Separate finger movement in lumbrical position The results obtained were as follows: 1. The most of the cases were median-ulnar palsy. 2. The majority of them were in third decade young men. 3. Satisfactory result was 63.5% in appearance, 70.8% in function, 62.8% according to the patients statement, and 61.1% in overall total assessment. 4. As complication two cases of severe adhesion of the grafted tendons and significant lateral deviation on nine fingers were noted. 5. Preoperative and postoperative physiotherapy contributed a important roll in the end results.

Journal of the Korean Pediatric Society 1994;37(10):1420-1426
The folling results were obtained through the clinical review and Virology Laboratory of 100 cases of meningitis seen at ward of the pediatric department of Has Sung Hospital during the period from May to June, 1993. 1) Early childhood period was the most frequent age group and male was predominant in aseptic meningitis. 2) The common chief complaints were fever, vomiting, headache in order. 3) On physical examination meningeal irritation signs were not prominent. 4) On admission, leukocytosis (WBC count>10.000/mm(3)) on peripheral blood was showed in 36%. 5) The findings of cerebrospinal fluid showed that cells (Mean WBC count 671.8/mm(3)) were increased in all cases, and protein and sugar were mostly within normal limit. 6) Echovirus 9 was thought to be main causative agent according to the cerebrospinal fluid culture and antibody test. 7) On follow up study 2 months after discharge, 14 cases showed minimal abnormalities of EEG but no abnormal finding in BERA.
