Objective To determine whether an environmental intervention tailored to each patient's allergic sensitization and environmental risk factors could improve asthma-related outcomes. Methods Irritant or allergen sensitivity determined by the patient's exposure history and confirmed with skin test. Patients were asked to record 2-week days without symptoms, days off-work(or school) and ?2-agonist puffs. Pulmonary function was also examined. Ninety-six asthmatics with atopic asthma (aged 16-78 years) were randomly assigned to a control group, an intervention group that received an educational handout monthly for 2 months. Asthmatics of both groups inhalded budesonide at a daily dose 200-800 ?g and ?2-agonist as needed. Environmental intervention lasted six months and included education and remediation for exposure to allergens. The control group had no special recommendations. BACKGROUND: In clinical, the research on the method and the material of the soft tissue defect of the operation area has been in depth. It wil have a positive impact on our exploration and research in this field through the establishment of reliable experimental animal oral soft tissue defect model. OBJECTIVE: To establish a rabbit model of oral soft tissue defects for oral treatment of soft tissue defects in-depth study. METHODS: Eighteen 3-month-old male New Zealand rabbits were enrol ed. A tissue ring cutting dril of 5 mm diameter was used to prepare round ful -thickness soft tissue defects in the front part of the hard palate and, respectively, from the back of the maxil ary incisors, about 2 mm from the hard palate mucosal edge. Morphology and histology were observed at 3, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 56 days after model establishment. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Morphological observation: After 3 and 7 days, the wound’s inflammatory reaction was obvious. As the time goes, the inflammatory response subsided, the wound gradual y healed. Scar formation was observed at 21, 28 and 56 days after surgery. (2) Histological observation: 3 and 7 days after injury, many inflammatory cel s were infiltrating, and tissue necrosis area was larger. At 7 days after surgery, with the extensive formation of connective tissue proliferation and new blood capil aries, the wound gradual y shaping completely. (3) Results indicated that a rabbit model of oral soft tissue defects was successful y established, which was in line with the physical laws of wound healing and the characteristics of human oral soft tissue defects healing.

BACKGROUND:Previous studies have found that platelet-rich fibrin has a good ability to induce gingival soft tissue repair and regeneration.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of platelet-rich fibrinversus colagen membrane on gingival soft tissue healing, and to evaluate the ability of platelet-rich fibrin to repair gingival defects.
METHODS:Twenty-two patients (2 premolar teeth and 20 molars) scheduled for premolar or molar removal or ridge preservation due to various reasons were selected and randomized into two groups. Bio-Oss was implanted into the extraction socket folowed by covering with platelet-rich fibrin or colagen membrane. Healing time and healing rate of gingival defects were detected to evaluate the ability of platelet-rich fibrin to promote gingival tissue healing at 1-2 weeks after Bio-Oss implantation.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The healing time was (12.17±2.25) days in the platelet-rich fibrin group and (17.30±2.58) days in the colagen group. The healing rate of the platelet-rich fibrin group was notably higher than that in the colagen membrane group at 1 and 2 weeks after Bio-Oss implantation. These findings indicate that platelet-rich fibrin is better than colagen membrane to improve the healing of gingival soft tissues with a shorter healing time.

Wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of major causes of blindness in elder people.Intraocular injection of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) -A regimen has made big breakthrough for the treatment on choroidal neovascularization of wet AM D,while long-term follow-up and necessary retreatments are the key issues to remain obtained visual acuity.Multiple strategies of wet AMD have been used in following-up and retreating based on the visual acuity,optical coherence tomography (OCT),ophthalmoscope and fluorescein fundus angiography (FFA) in abroad.However,there also are major differences in the patient' s composition,treatment habits and distribution of medical sources in China from Western.So we suggest to standardize the follow-up and retreatment strategies about intravitreal injection of VEGF-A for wet AMD as to achieve a better effectiveness.OCT-guided individual follow-up and retreatment strategies should be very helpful for maintaining a long-term efficacy,minimizing the treatment time and reducing medical cost.

Objective To explore the prevalence of ETS gene fusion in prostate cancer and its correlation with patient's clinicopathologic index.Methods Ninety-one samples from prostate needle biopsy cases with median age 75 (55-90) years and 18 samples from radical prostatectomy cases with median age 72 (63-81) years were collected from Oct.2010 to Feb.2012.TMPRSS2-ERG,TMPRSS2-ETV1 and TMPRSS2-ETV4 fusions were tested by multi-probe fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assay.Fusion positive and negative cases were compared with age,TNM stage,Gleason score (median Gleason score 7 (6-9)),and PSA value (median PSA 33.4 μg/L,mcan PSA 118.8 μg/L).In needle biopsy cases,there were early stage 32 (34％),locally advanced prostate cancer 36 (40％),metastasis 23 (26％) ; in radical prostatectomy cases,there were 9 cases in T2 stage,8 cases in T3 stage,1 cases in T4a stage,respectively.Results TMPRSS2-ERG fusions were present in 14.3％ (13/91,95％ confidence interval,0.071-0.215)biopsy specimens and in 11.1％ (2/18,95％ confidence interval,0-0.256) radical prostatectomy specimens.No TMPRSS2-ETV1 or TMPRSS2-ETV4 fusions were found in any cases.Altogether,13 (86.7％)cases possessed deletion pattern.And 7 (46.6％) hold insertion pattern.5 cases had both deletion and insertion pattern.38.5％ (5/13) deletion pattern had distant metastasis.Except one metastatic case harbored both deletion and insertion pattern,there was no insertion pattern accompanied with metastasis.There were no differences between fusion positive and negative cases in the distribution of age (P =1.000),PSA (P =1.138),primary Gleason score (P=2.186),Gleason score (P=2.107),TNM stage (P=2.052) and Risk Degree (P=2.597).Conclusions The TMPRSS2-ERG fusion positive cases harbor more deletion pattern than insertion pattern.There are no differences between fusion positive and negative cases in the distribution of age,PSA,Gleason score,TNM stage and Risk Degree.
