Objectives To investigate the value of hepatobiliary scintigraphy in evaluation of the hepatic uptake and excre-tion function in neonatal intrahepatic cholestasis caused by citrin deifciency (NICCD). Methods Hepatobiliary scintigraphy with SPECT was used to detect the hepatic uptake and excretion function of 12 patients with NICCD conifrmed by SLC25A13 gene analysis, and the results were compared with the results of blood biochemical tests. Results The hepatic uptake and excretion function were obviously impaired in all of 12 NICCD patients in the initial scintigraphy. The scintigraphy were performed again in 5 patients in the follow-up after treatment, and showed that the hepatic uptake and excretion function was recovered. It was sug-gested that the hepatic uptake and excretion function was consistent with the level of liver enzymes and the degree of cholestasis. Conclusions Hepatobiliary scintigraphy is of value in evaluation of the hepatic uptake and excretion function in NICCD patients.

Objective To observe the preliminary effects of the treatment for early non-traumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head with Madopar. Methods Thirty-one patients with 48 hips of early stage (Ficat Ⅰ,Ⅱ) non-traumatic necrosis of the femoral head were treated with oral administration of Madopar since 2002. The disease was associated with consumption of alcohol in 16 cases with 27 hips; use of steroids in 10 cases with 13 hips; both consumption of alcohol and use of steroids in 2 cases with 4 hips; the remaining 3 cases, the condition was idiopathic. According to the criteria of Ficat et al., there were 4 hips in stage Ⅰ; 40 in stage Ⅱa and 4 in stage Ⅱb. Eighteen patients had received madopar for 10-28 months; 13 patients had been receiving the drug until now. Follow-up examinations were made by radiography, MRI and Charnley modified Merle d'Aubigne score. Results All patients were followed up for 12-84 months (average 27.8 months). The clinical symptoms improved in all cases. X-ray films showed that the bone density increased in nearly all the femoral heads, and 68.75%(33/48) of them maintained their shapes. The follow-up MRI showed their necrotic indices had decreased. The rate of clinical satisfaction was 91.67%(44/48), and the successful rate of treatment was 72.92%(35/48), and the collapse rate of early stage necrosis of the femoral head is 27.08%(13/48). Conclusion The preliminary results showed that madopar could prevent or delay collapse of the femoral head in early stage of osteonecrosis.

Objective To investigate clinical features and prognostic factors in acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients with opportunistic infections.Methods Forty-two cases of AIDS patients with opportunistic infections were enrolled in this study.Clinical data and major factors affecting the prognosis were analyzed using Logistic regression.Results Bacterial infection was the first etiological factor(57.1%) of opportunistic infections in AIDS patients.Eighty-three point three percent of patients infected with more than two kind of etiological agents.Fifty-seven point one per- cent of cases were infected in multiple sites.CD4~+ T cells count was associated with the opportunistic infections.Conclusions The CD4~- T lymphocytes count is the key factor affecting the prognosis of AIDS patients with opportunistic infections.The average of CD4~+ T lymphocytes count is significant- ly related with the major opportunistic infections in AIDS paitents.

This study gave a detailed explanation of the mechanism and method for the application of the enclosed passive infraversion lavage drainage system.In this drainage system,the rinse solution was infused into the peritoneal cavity passively rather than actively.This guarantees that the output of the solution was more than the input of the solution.It is also a safe and effective system in washing severe bile leakage and pancreatic fistula in the early stage after pancreatoduodenectomy.

Objective To investigate the wall shear stress(WSS) in the common carotid artery of type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM) patients,and analyzed the spatial distribution of WSS by using quantitative visualization of blood flow shear stress analysis software.Methods Eighteen male type 2 DM subjects were enrolled as DM group and 18 age-matched healthy subjects were selected as control group.None of the participants was hypertensive,hyperlipidemic or a cigarette smoker.Intimal-medial thickness (IMT),number and size of plaques in the common carotid artery were evaluated by high-resolution echo-Doppler.Color Doppler flow images of common carotid arteries in the two groups were extracted from DICOM files.WSS in the common carotid arteries was calculated by shear stress visualization quantitative analysis software,and the corresponding spatial distribution maps of WSS were designed.Results WSS of the common carotid arteries in the control group were ranged from 4 to 14 dyne/cm2.WSS of the common carotid arteries in the DM group were ranged from 2 to 8 dyne/cm2.Compared to mean WSS value [(6.96 ± 1.17)dyne/cm2] of common carotid arteries in the control group,mean WSS value [(3.14 ± 0.79)dyne/cm2] of common carotid arteries in the DM group was significantly lower (t =9.380,P =0.000).Six diabetic participants had a plaque in one carotid artery and no lesions in the contralateral carotid.Among these subjects,mean WSS was significantly lower in the side with lesion (t =7.324,P =0.000).Therefore,IMT of common carotid arteries in participants was significantly inversely related to WSS (r =-0.76,P ＜0.01).Conclusions The common carotid arteries of DM patients are more prone to atherosclerosis which is associated with reduction of WSS.The hemodynamic profile might represent an additional factor contributing to the increased prevalence and severity of carotid atherosclerosis in diabetic patients compared with general population.
