Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a rare affection characterized by fragility of the bones, blue sclerae, and deafness, less frequently by hypermobility of the joints. The etiology is unknown, but it appears to be a mesenchymaldefect. A cases of osteogencesis imperfecta (tarda form) in a 18 yesrs old male is presented with a review of the literatures. The chief complaints were bowing deformity of the all extremites and blue sclera. In this cases, other typical features such as deafness and hypermobility of the joints were not observed. X-ray showed multiple malunited fraeture, of all long bones of extremities except Ieft humerus. For the treatment of bowing deformity of right humerus, multiple corrective osteotomy and intramedullary nailing was performed and the result was good.

It has been known that the inducing factors of low back pain are numerous such as songenitaI anormalies, degenerative, traumatic and inflamatory pricess of the spine and its adjacent structures. Despite many relevant literatures upon low back pain, it has been also known that to differentiate causes of low back pain is difficult but very important for treatment. Exclusive of those who had defenite trauma history of spine, 704 cases low back pain in adult, treated at Dept. of Orthopedic surgery Kyungpook University Hospital during recent 3yr & 4 months were reviewed and analyzed by the X-ray findings of lumbar spine. Anterioposterior and Iateral films of lumbar spine were available in each cases but oblique fiIms and myelography was also available as indicated, The results obtained were as follows. 1. The roentgenograms of the spine of 704 cases were reviewed. 494 cases revealed structual changes of the spine. 273 cases were non specific. 2. Of 494 cases reavold structual changes, 273 cases were disease entities, 190 cases were bony abnormalities, and combined cases were 67. 3. Among 273 cases of disease, disc herniation was most common except osteoarthritis(32cases) Tuberculous, spondylolitis, 23cases and pyogenic spondylolitis was 3 cases. 4. Among 257 cases of Bony afnormalities, spina bifida was most common (128 cases). 5. Degenerative changes of the spine was appeared in 3rd. decades (4.8%) and the incidence and severity increased with age. 6. Among 34 cases of multiple abnormalities, 33 cases were combined with spina bifida.

Treatment of the olecranon fractures by prolonged immobilization often results in limited elbow motion. With the use of tension band wiring, anatomical reduction was obtainable, and only a short period of immobilization was needed. We reviewed the cases of 17 patients who underwent surgical treatment of the olecranon fracture. All patients were treated by tension band wiring. In the overall series, we were able to obtain 53 percent excellent, 30 percent good, and 18 percent fair results.

With respect to the histogenesis of the neurofibroma, there are many controversies, since von Recklinghausen postulated that neurofibromas are mainly fibrous tumors arising from the connective tissue of the nerve sheaths. According to the recent studies through the electron microscope, the neoplastic perineurial cells are regarded as the main components of the tumor. So, the neurofibroma enucleated from the median nerve at the level of proximal arm without resulting neurologic sequale was examine through the light-and electron microscope. Ultrastructurally, this tumor is composed of the perineurial cells, fibroblasts, and collagen fibers. The predominant perineurial cells show distinct basal lamina, and contain abundant microfilaments.

Recently, the Supracondyle fracture of the femur is so severe and comminuted that it is difficult to treat open reduction and rigid fixation sufficiently due to violent traffic accident and external forces. The associated injuries are accompanied variously. So compliactions of the supracondyle fractures 'including joint.. stiffness, delayed union, infection are serious. However development of internal implant and operation skill result in relatively satisfactory function than conservative management. The authors reviewed. 20 cases of the supracondyle fracture of the femur treated at Yeungnam University Hospital from 1989. Dec. To 1992. Jan. The results were as follows 1. The male was common(70%). The 2nd-4th decade was most(87%). 2. The most common cause of injuries was traffic accident. The rate of open fracture was 35%, most of it was traffic accident. 3. According to the ASIF group classification, 4 cases were type A, 4 in type B, 12 in type C (10 in type C2&C3). 4. Accompanied injuries included multiple fractures in 9 cases and femoral artery injury in 1 case. 5. Among the 20 cases, conservative treatment was done in 5 cases and operative treatment was done in 15 cases. 6. Functional results (by Schatzker criteria) were as follows. The satisfactory results were achieved in 40% of cases in consevative treatment and 67 in operative treatment. 7. The average time of partial weight bearing was 15 weeks. 8. Complications were knee stiffness in 6 cases and 4 in delayed union.

The treatment of tibial shaft fracture has become one of the most controversial subjects in orthopedic surgery. Comminuted, segmental and rotationally unstable fractures or bone defect at fraction site have problems of the fixation. The interlocking nail solve these problems. We have experienced 8 cases of the tibial shaft fractures treated with interlocking nail from 1986 to 1988. Authors analyzed these cases and out own clinical study. The results were as follows. 1. The average bone union rate was about 15 weeks. 2. The interval between operation and crutch walking was 4.3 weeks. 3. The merits of this operation were the short hospitalization and early adaptation of social activity. 4. The advantage is be able to do early ambulation without following muscular atrophy or joint stiffness. 5. The results were assessed on clinical examination and radiographic appearance by Hamza et al. An excellent results were 7 cases and good result was 1 case.
