The ectomycorrhizal roots were collected from the soils around the bases of basidiocarps of the four edible mushrooms in the stands of Pinus densiflora or Querus acutissima communities (Mt. Wol-Ak in Eastern Chung-Puk): The basidiocarps of Tricholoma matsutake (TM), Sarcodon asparatus (SA), S. imbricatum (SI), and Polyozellus multiplex (PM) are usually collected. The ectomycorrhizal roots of TM, PM and SI were related to the roots of P. densiflora, but the other to the roots of Q. acutissima in Korea. Particularly, the basidiocarps of PM were collected in the mixed stand of both P. densiflora and Q. acutissima. The morphologies of the ectomycorrhizal roots were observed to be the yellowish brown coral (dichromatous) or pyramid types in the roots of the pine, but dark brown un-branched sticks (roots) in the ends of ectomycorrhizal roots of Querus plants. The un-branched roots were covered with the dark mycelia (rhizomorph) around them. Therefore, the ectomyorrhizal roots of PM were observed to have two kinds of types; The single blackish un-branched roots were observed to be attached to the yellowish coral type roots. The bundles of TM mycelia were filled with cortical cells (in the roots of P. densiflora), but the mycelia of the other fungi (Aphylloporales) were massed between the cortical cells of P. densiflora or Q. acutissima. Their anatomical and gross features were considered to be simailar but very important in the ectomycorrhizal roots for these edible mushrooms.

Purpose: This study examined the patient-reported outcome scores at mid-term follow-up after arthroscopic labral preservation in patients with borderline hip dysplasia. Materials and Methods: Data were collected retrospectively from patients who underwent arthroscopic labral preservation. Among the 61 patients classified with hip dysplasia, patients with arthritis beyond Tönnis grade II were excluded, Patients with subchondral bony exposure were excluded even if they had arthritis of Tönnis grade I. Forty-two patients with borderline hip dysplasia were enrolled among patients whose lateral center edge angle (LCEA) was between 18° and 25°. The PRO scores including the modified Harris hip score (mHHS), hip outcome score activities of daily living (HOS-ADL), hip outcome score sport-specific subscale (HOS-SSS) and visual analog scale (VAS), were collected and compared preoperatively, and then at one year and a minimum of five years after surgery. Results: The mean preoperative LCEA and Tönnis angle were 20.9° (range, 18° to 25°) and 6.3° (range, 0° to 18°), respectively. The mean follow-up was 64.8 (range, 60 to 84) months. The mean mHHS increased from 73.5 before surgery to 86.2 in the fifth year after surgery (p<0.01), the mean HOS-ADL from 70.5% before surgery to 84.9% in the fifth year after surgery (p<0.01), and the mean HOS-SSS from 51.4 before surgery to 69.4 in the fifth year after surgery (p<0.01). The mean VAS score improved from 6.3 before surgery to 1.5 in the fifth year after surgery (p<0.01). Conclusion Arthroscopic labral preservation performed in appropriately selected patients with borderline dysplasia showed good results at mid-term follow-up. In borderline hip dysplasia without the progress of osteoarthritis and subchondral bone exposure, arthroscopic labral preservation may be considered a good and less invasive option.

The present study has been performed to evaluate 20 cardiopathy children and 20 healthy children's oral micorbes at the point of antimicrobial susceptibilities for antimicrobial prophylaxis to prevent bacterial endocarditis. The results were as follows: 1. Both groups had similar oral microbes. 2. The antimicrobial susceptibility of S. viridans were: Penicillin< Oxacillin< Ampicillin< Cephalothin< Erythromycin< Clindamycin< Gentamicin< Ciprofloxacin< Vancomycin=Imipenem. The cardiopathy group was slightly lower antimicrobial susceptibility rates than healthy group. 3. The antimicrobial susceptibility of Neisseriaceae were: Clindamycin< Erythromycin< Vancomycin< Penicillin< Gentamicin< Cephalothin< Ciprofloxacin< Imipenem. The antibiotics of bacterial endocarditis antibiotic prophylaxis regimens for dental procedures according to the American Heart Association were generally lower antimicrobial susceptibilities, so they were considered inadequate for the first selective antibiotics and Imipemem was best suitable antimicrobials. Conclusively, when choose antimicrobials for treatment or antimicrobial prophylaxsis for bacterial endocarditis, surveillant culture must be performed to evaluated personal antimicrobial susceptibilities of intraoral microbes for proper antimicrobial choice for dental procedures.

The authors underwent the serum lipid study, involving the lipoprotein fraction, and the HDL-cholesterol mean values in normal Korean adults visited to Hanyang University Hospital, and also compared with the previously reported serum lipid studies. The results are as follows; 1) The mean values of triglyceride, total cholesterol, and phospholipid were 103.3+/-17.1mg%, 188.9+/-18.2mg%, and 196.7+/-19.8mg%, respectively. 2) Compared with the past 7 years triglyceride showed increasing tendency with significance, and cholesterol and phospholipid showed slightly increasing tendency. 3) In the serum lipoprotein fraction, the mean values of alpha-lipoprotein, pre-beta-lipoprotein, and beta-lipoprotein were 37.2+/-5.9%, 16.0+/-4.2%, and 48.6+/-5.2%, respectively. 4) Compared with the past 10 years, the alpha-, and pre-beta-lipoprotein showed increasing tendency, meanwhile, beta-lipoprotein revealed decreasing tendency. 5) The mean value of HDL-cholesterol was 52.3+/-14.6mg%, and the ratio of HDL-cholesterol to total cholesterol(HDL-cholesterol/total cholesterol) was 28.2+/-7.9. 6) Compared with the past 2 years, HDL-cholesterol level showed slightly increasing tendency.
