Castleman disease is a benign disorder, usually occurring within mediastinum, characterized by proliferation of lymphold tissue. The authors report a rare case of Castleman disease originating from mesenteric root. The tumor was highly vascular, proved by dynamic CT examination and splanchnic angiography.

The Journal of Korean Academy of Prosthodontics 2000;38(1):50-58
The purpose of this study was to investigate the causes of food impaction and to explore solutions as well. For this study, 39 patients with food impaction wee selected. 77 contact areas in these patients were investigated mobility, tightness of contact area, gingival index, plaque index, attachment loss, alveolar bone loss, proximal caries, marginal ridge distance and occlusal relationships. The results were as follows ; 1. Teeth without distal support were found to be the most frequent site of food impaction (41.6%). Food impaction was found to be more frequent in the upper teeth (66.2%) than the lower teeth (33.8%). 2. Food impaction was found in tight contact cases (71.4%). Alveolar bone loss was not found in the early stage of food impaction (83.1%) 3. The distance between the marginal ridges of food impaction sites (mean=0.48mm) was shorter than that of the control group. (mean=0.77mm) (p<0.001) 4. In 18.2% of t he cases, proximal carries were found at the food impaction site. 5. Food impaction affected patient's occlusion with the following frequencies ; cusp to marginal ridge relationship (72.7%), cusp to fossa relationship (3.9%) and stepped relationship (23.4%).

Porokeratosis are characterized by distinct clinical findings of a keratotic ridge that corresponds to the cornoid lamella on histology and has well defined potential for malignancy. We report a case of basal cell carcinoma(BCC) arising in linear porokeratosis in a 77-yearold man.

AIM: To investigate antioxidative and antinitrosative effects of volatile oil from A.longiligulare T.L.Wu on dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis mice. METHODS: Balb/c mice were fed with 4% DSS solution for 7 d to induce ulcerative colitis.Using biochemical method, the activity of antioxidative enzyme SOD,MDA and NO were determined in normal, model,SASP and three mouse's groups with low, moderate and high volatile oil from A.longiligulare T.L.Wu respectively. At the same time, the activity of iNOS was also measured by immunohistopathology. RESULTS: The concentration of MDA and NO were reduced and SOD increased significantly in high-and moderate-volatile oil groups compared with those in the model group. The activity of iNOS was reduced significantly in high-and moderate-volatile oil groups compared with those in the model group. The results demonstrated that the expression of iNOS was significantly inhibited in DSSinduced ulcerative colitis mice after being treated with high or moderate-dosage volatile oil. CONCLUSION: Volatile oil from A.longiligulare T.L.Wu has antioxidative and antinitrosative effects which may be one of the mechanism for treating UC.

Objective To study the prospective memory and the severity of the impairment of event- based prospective memory(EBPM)and time-based prospective memory(TBPM)in normally aging adults. Methods We set a neuropsychological battery to measure the education-matched 40 adults and 40 normally aging adults who were given EBPM and TBPM tasks. Results Compared with the young controls(EBPM, 6.25?1.60;TBPM,5.38?0.87),both EBPM(2.50?0.85)and TBPM(4.93?1.07)in the elderly had been impaired, especially EBPM(t = 13.117,P
