The infantile cortical hyperostosis is relatively rare unknown cause disease. After the first report of a case of this was that of caffey in 1945, this disease is increasing in frequency. This disease characterized by subperiosteal new bone formation on various bone, leukocytosis, increased Erythrocyte Seidmentation Rate, fever. We experienced two cases of this and reported them in this paper with a brief review of tbe literature.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1988;23(5):1255-1258
The study was conducted to determine the lateral tibio-articular angle of ankle joint in 100 korean adults(160 cases) ranging from second to eight decades of age. The authors have defined as the lateral tibio-articular angle of ankle joint, that is the sharp angle between the lateral tibial axis which is the lateral longitudinal line through each midpoints of the upper and lower one third of the tibia, and the line to connect the anterior and posterior tips of the tibial articular surface of ankle joint. 1. It was 79.3°±3.4°in all cases. 2. It was 79.2°±3.6°in male and 79.6°±2.7°in female. It was reduced in male approximately 0.4°compared with female. 3. It was 79.1°±3.1°in the left side and 79.5°±3.6°in the right side. It was reduced approximately 0.4°in the left side compared with the right side. 4. It was reduced approximately 0.9°in the left side compared with both sides of the same person.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2000;41(1):12-17
The contact lens wearers are exposed to the risk of permanent visual dysfunction due to various ocular diseases, especially corneal infections. And ocular disease of contact lens wearers are reported to be closely related to the biochemical alterations of tear film. To compare the lysozyme concentration of reflex tear in normal subjects and contact lens wearers, the tear was collected from 38 eyes of 38 normal subjects and 34 eyes of 34 contact lens wearers. The age of the subjects were between 20 to 39 years. The mean concentration of tear lysozyme were 3.55 +/-0.9 6 milligram/milliliter in normal subjects and 3.66 +/-1.02 milligram/milliliter in contact lens wearers. There was no statisti-cally significant difference between the two groups[p>0.05 ]. Though contact lens wearing does not decrease the concentration of tear lysozyme, it seems that this protein serves as a mediator of corneal infection by adhering to the surface of the contact lenses.

6.Three Cases of Amebic Colitis Misdiagnosed as T.B. Colitis.

Journal of the Korean Society of Coloproctology 1999;15(1):41-49
Nowadays, inflammatory bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, is increasing; however, infectious colitis, such as amebic colitis, is decreasing, so many doctors are not apt to be interested in infectious colitis. In addition, recently amebic colitis has been relatively rare in Korea, and the colonoscopic and the pathologic findings of amebic colitis are very similar to those of other inflammatory bowel diseases. As a consequence, the diagnosis is very difficult if the cyst or the trophozoite of the ameba is not found in the stool examination or in the tissue pathology. The authors experienced three cases in which initial diagnoses of tuberculous colitis, ulcerative colitis, and a simple ulcer were made based on colonoscopic and X-ray findings. However a colonoscopic biopsy revealed a trophozoite form of ameba in the tissue. Hence, a diagnosis of amebic colitis could be made with confidence. Based on these results, we insist that infectious colitis should be included in the differential diagnosis when making a diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, it is extremely important to consider all kinds of infectious colitis, such as amebic colitis.
