1.TEL(ETV 6)-AML1 Translocations with TEL and CDKN2 Inactivation in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia(ALL).
Korean Journal of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology 1997;4(2):227-235
Abnormalities of the short arm of chromosome 12 are relatively common in childhood ALL. Approximately 5~7% of children with ALL have cytogenetic evidence of a translocation involving 12p, whereas 3~5% have deletions which suggest the presence of a tumor suppressor gene at this location. Through the use of sensitive molecular techniques, 12p or 12p 12~13 loss of heterozygosity (LOH) has been demonstrated in approximately 25 oyo of childhood ALL cases. FISH mapping has detected a minimum region of overlap for the 12p deletions between the TEL(ETV6) and CDKN1B(KIP1) geness). Recently, chromosomal translocations involving the TEL gene at 12p13 have been cloned in several hematopoietic disorders. In ALL cells with thet(12;21)(p13;q22), the 5' part of TEL is fused with the AML1 gene. Abnormalities of 12p, especially the t(12 ; 21), are more reliably detected by FISH than by classical cytogenetics because the translocated portions 12p and 21q are virtually identical cytologically. When FISH was combined with Southern blotting and RT-PCR, the t(12;21) was identified as a recur-ring chromosomal abnormality in 16~25% of childhood B-lineage ALL. Despite the identification of the fusion partners in the t(12;21), the actual function of the TEL-AML1 and AML1-TEL fusion proteins in promoting malignant transformation is unclear. Whether the TEL-AML1 fusion alone is necessary and sufficient for malignant transformation in ALL and whether TEL inactivation has a role in leukemogenesis is currently unknown. Loss of the CDKN2(p16) gene at 9p21 is a common genetic abnormality in ALL and a variety of other malignancies. Homozygous CDKN2 deketions have been deteced in approximate 15% of B-lineage ALL and 75% of T-lineage ALL cases. The p16 protein functions as an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinase 4, and normally acts to stop cell cycle progression. Whether loss of p16 alone is necessary and sufficient for malignant transformation in childhood ALL has not been determined.

3.A study on nutritional status, related factors and high blood glucoza level of adults aged 40 to 60 living in a center district of Hanoi city
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2003;288(9):78-84
From March to December 2002, 890 subjects aged 40-60 with high blood sugar, in Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi city were investigated. Of them 6.1% had fasting capilary blood sugar level at 116mg/dl, with no difference between male and female subject, the incidence of high blood sugar increased with the age, 3.7% in the group of 40-49 and 8.9% in the group of 50-60. Blood pressure is 12.7%, higher in male than in female (18.7% and 11.1%), this incidence increased with the age. There were relations between high blood sugar with blood pressure, with BMI, and with abdomen obesis, body fat percentage and family history of diabetes

4.Some discussions of the liver transplatation
Journal of Vietnamese Medicine 2001;263(9):1-5
33 years ago, since the first liver transplantation was performed by STARZL, until now transplantation has travel a long road technical, legal, sociological development. There are now, more than 30,000 liver transplantations having been performed throughout the world. The results has improved since the introduction of cyclosporin. The long-term survival rate are approximately 70-80% at 1 year, 60-70% at 5 years. Some of the patients have now survival for over 20 years-long-term surviving liver transplan patients have a better quality of life. Nervertheless there are the problems limiting the development of liver transplantation: - the inadequate supply of donor organ. - The legal, sociological, ethical and cost effectiveness

5.Preliminary research on status of some micro elements in pregnant women
Journal of Preventive Medicine 1999;10(2):57-61
This research was implemented in 135 pregnant women aged from 20-28 in 2 communes in Bac Ninh province. The results: anaemia is very frequent (40.7% of subjects has Hb<11 mg/dl; besides Zinc deficiency is also a severe problem of public health (low plasma Zn<65 mg/dl is 69.7%). There is a proportional correlation between Hb and Zn concentrations. The iron, zinc dietary intake is attained 50-70% compared with RDAs.

6.Nutrition status and life style of 50-59 year old persons with signs of diabetes in Ha Noi
Journal of Preventive Medicine 2000;10(4):50-57
Studied on 372 Ha Noi people with fasting capillary glaucoma of 140mg/dl and positive melituria. Results: the obese people was high (15,5%). The rate of obesity in women was higher than men. Ten people with high glucemia was 1,6%, this rate in women was higher than in men. Protein in the diet was higher than that recommended. The energy P: L: G = 15,8: 13,8: 76,4 in obese people with insufficient activities, long sitting and the rate of people doing exercises was fewer

9.Isokinetic Muscle Strength and Muscle Endurance by the Types and Size of Rotator Cuff Tear in Men.
Clinics in Shoulder and Elbow 2014;17(4):166-174
BACKGROUND: Our study was to determine the effect on shoulder isokinetic muscle strength and muscle endurance in isolated full-thickness supraspinatus tendon tear and combined other rotator cuff tear. METHODS: Total of 81 male patients (mean age 57.8 +/- 7.4 years) who were diagnosed as a full-thickness supraspinatus tendon tear were included. They were classified into isolated or combined tear. The isokinetic muscle strength and muscle endurance were measured using the Biodex multi-joint system PRO(R) (Biodex Medical Systems, Shirley, NY, USA) in following movements: shoulder abduction, adduction, flexion, extension, external rotation, and internal rotation. Then, the difference in muscle function according to the type of tears were assessed. Fifty-seven patients had isolated supraspinatus tendon (mean age 56.9 +/- 7.3 years). They were classified into either anteroposterior tear or modified mediolateral tear. The size were measured using T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scans in sagittal plane. RESULTS: Between subjects categorized into the type of tear, we found significant inter-categorical differences in isokinetic muscle strength during abduction, adduction, flexion, extension, and internal rotation, and in muscle endurance during flexion, extension, and internal rotation. Anteroposterior diameter tear, we did not show significant differences in either isokinetic muscle strength or muscle endurance during any movements. However, with modified mediolateral diameter, we found significant differences with isokinetic muscle strength during adduction, and in muscle endurance the external rotation and internal rotation. CONCLUSIONS: We found that a supraspinatus tendon tear associated with more numbers of rotator cuff tears has lower isokinetic muscle strength and muscle endurance than a tear found alone.

10.Platelet-rich Plasma in Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair.
Clinics in Shoulder and Elbow 2015;18(2):113-118
Rotator cuff tear is a common reason for shoulder pain. Although the surgical technique of rotator cuff repair is developing, high retear rate requires additional supplementary methods. Among these supplementary methods, as a kind of biologic augmentation, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been spotlighted and has recently been studied by many researchers. PRP, a concentrate of platelet extract obtained from whole blood, contains numerous growth factors. As this is known to play an important role in the tissue recovery process, it had been used for research in a variety of fields including orthopedics. Use of PRP has been attempted in surgical treatments of rotator cuff tear for better results; however, only a few large-scale research studies on the effect of PRP have been reported. Clinical results of each study are also variable. Therefore research using large-scale randomized, double-blind trials should be conducted in order to prove the application range, safety, and clinical effects of PRP.
