Primary tumors of the heart are rare, three-quarters of the tumors are benign, and nearly half of the benign heart tumors are myxomas. Cardiac myxoma usually originate in the left atrium about 75 percent, but, only 3 to 4 percent of myxoma are detected in the left ventricle. Cardiac myxoma is histologically benign, but may be lethal because of their position. We reported a case of 65-year-old man with left atrium myxoma associated with inferior vena caval thrombi and pulmonary embolism. After the operation of myxoma, the Budd-Chiari syndrome developed and the patient died due to hepatic failure.

OBJECTIVE: Pelvic inflammatory disease has been inclining over the years and high prevalence rates in teenagers is an upcoming issue. Our study is to research and analyze the PID patients of a certain region to give a better perspect of the disease for adequate prevention and management. METHODS: From March 1998 to December 2001, we underwent retrospective studies on medical records of 130 admitted PID patients in po-hang Dong-guk university hospital. RESULTS: Our of all gynecologic patients, 14.4% were PID patients. 17.7% of these were teenagers and patients who were in there twenties consumed up to 50.8%. The disease mostly occured within 8 days of the first menstruational day. Common etiology of the disease was unmarried state, using IUD as a contraceptive and previous artificial abortion. CONCLUSION: PID patients who are in their teens or twenties represented 68.5% of all PID patients. PID in younger ages keeps increasing and seems to be a trend. Secondary treatment of the disease is undoubtfully important, but primary prevention such as sexual education and birth control must also be considered.

A congenital coronary arteriovenous fistula is a rare condition, which is an abnormal communication of the coronary artery with the right or left ventricle, the right or left atrium or the pulmonary artery. A coronary arteriovenous fistula, complicated with a pulmonary aneurysm, is quite uncommon. A case of 68-year-old woman, complaining of resting chest pain for 1 week, is reported. The coronary arteriovenous fistula associated, with a pulmonary aneurysm, was confirmed by coronary angiography and multidetector-row helical CT (MDCT), and was surgically ligated.

Spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage is a rare complication after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The patient can be in danger if bleeding is not stopped immediately. However, it is not easy to control the bleeding completely because the bleeding foci can be multiple and there is a rich network of collateral circulation. We report a case of spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage successfully treated using multiple microcoils. One year later, panhypopituitarism occurred as a likely consequence of the accompanying hypovolemic shock.
