Objective To investigate the pathological significance of expression of IL-23 in colon tissues of patients with steroid-dependent uncreative colitis at remission. Methods Expression of IL-23 was measured by means of Western Blot and immunohistochemistry SABC in inflammation repairing areas from 15 patients with steroid-dependent ulcerative colitis at remission, 30 patients with common ulcerative colitis at remission (15 treated with SASP and 15 with prednisone) and 10 normal colon tissues. The results were analyzed by SPSS 16.0.Results Compared with normal control, expression of IL-23 in patients of SASP maintenance therapy and prednisone with common ulcerative colitis were slightly increased ( P > 0.05), which was significantly lower that of steroid-dependent specimens ( P < 0.01).Conclusion Over-expression of IL-23 may plas a key role in the pathogenesis of steroid-dependent ulcerative colitis.

Objective: To investigate the effect of acupuncture or moxibustion at acupoint Geshu (BL 17) on raising leukocyte and promoting marrow proliferation. Methods: Wister rats were selected to establish the leukopenia and immuno-suppression model by intraperitoneal injection of cytoxan (CTX). After they were grouped and treated, leukocyte and marrow karyocyte were counted in different phases to evaluate the effect of acupuncture or moxibustion at acupoint Geshu (BL 17) on raising leukocyte and promoting marrow hematopoiesis. Results: Acupuncture or moxibustion at acupoint Geshu (BL 17) and routine western medicine could all significantly raise leukocyte and increase marrow karyocyte. The curative effect was better in moxibustion group than in acupuncture group and in routine western medicine group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Moxibustion at acupoint Geshu (BL 17) can markedly raise peripheral blood leukocyte and marrow karyocyte of the leucopenia model in rats.

Objective To analyze the risk factors for complications in elderly patients with cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass. Methods From July 2004 to June 2012,64 patients aged ≥ 60 years undergoing cardiac operations were selected.Clinical data were collected. The complications after cardiac operation and the risk factors were evaluated by single factor analysis and multivariate Logistic regression analysis with SPSS software. Results The postoperative complication rate in all patients was 34.4% (22/64).The complications occurred in 42 subjects and operative mortality was 6.3% (4/64).The single factor analysis showed that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease combined before operation (P=0.001),diabetes combined before operation (P=0.009),cardiopulmonary bypass time ≥2 h (P=0.000),aortic cross clamping time ≥90min (P=0.001),and blood transfusion volume ≥2000 ml (P =0.000) were the important risk factors for postoperative complications.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (P=0.007) and diabetes combined before operation (P=0.028),cardiopulmonary bypass time ≥2 h (P=0.003),and blood transfusion volume ≥2000 ml (P=0.030) were the significant independent predictive risk factors for postoperative complications. Conclusions Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, cardiopulmonary bypass time ≥2 h,aortic cross clamping time ≥90 min,and blood transfusion volume ≥2000 ml are the independent predictive risk factors for postoperative complications in elderly patients with cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass.
