Objective:To learn the prevalence and correlated factors of hyperuricemia in the middle-and-old aged inhabitants of Nanjing. Methods:5 423 inhabitants in the districts of Nanjing were selected by random cluster sampling. The levels of uric acid, creatine, total cholesterol, triglycerides, blood glucose in the serum were measured, and the diet was also investigated. Results:The prevalence of hyperuricemia in the middle-and-old aged inhabitants was 15.0%, with 20.1% for males and 10.6% for females. The prevalence for males and females increased after 50 years old, and maintained at a high level afterwards. The concentration of uric acid, creatine, total cholesterol, triglycerides, blood glucose, the blood pressure and BMI in the inhabitants with hyperuricemia were higher than those in the inhabitants without hyperuricemia. The risk factors for hyperuricemia included higher BMI and hypertension, while the protective factor was favorite for hot-food. Conclusion:For the inhabitants over 45 years old in Nanjing, hyperuricemia was common among the adults over 50 years old. Higher BMI and hypertension were the risk factors, while favorite for hot food was the protective factor.

Objective:To explore the effects of smoking on lung function and physical fitness of college students.Method:168 college students on September 30, 2020 were selected as the research subjects by convenient sampling. According to whether they had been smoking for more than 3 years in the past or (and) now, they were divided into smoking group (66 cases, 39.3%) and non-smoking group (102 cases, 60.7%). The general demographic data, body composition, health fitness and lung function of all the included subjects were collected, and the health status of the two groups were compared, the relationship between lung function and healthy physical fitness in the smoking group was analyzed, and the influencing factors of forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV 1) and expiratory vital capacity (EVC) were also analyzed. Results:The peak expiratory flow rate (PEF) of male college students in smoking group was lower than that of non-smoking group [(9.37±1.72) vs (10.04±1.69) L/s] ( F=5.051, P=0.026). The standing time with eyes closed and one foot of smoking group was longer than that of non-smoking group [(87.2±49.1) vs (63.6±39.7) s] ( F=9.327, P=0.003). The number of sit ups per minute of female college students in smoking group was less than that in non-smoking group [(39.5±7.5) vs (49.2±12.5) times/min] ( F=5.189, P=0.029). The peak inspiratory flow rate (PIF), FVC, FEV 1, EVC and PEF in the smoking group were positively correlated with grip strength, back muscle strength, number of sit ups, push ups, standing high jump and standing long jump ( P<0.001); through the analysis of relevant data, the estimation formula of lung function and health fitness items was obtained. Conclusion:Smoking is harmful to college students′ lung function and physical fitness.

AIMTo investigate human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2) protein expression and gene amplification in Chinese metastatic prostate cancer patients and their potential value as prognostic factors.
METHODSImmunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed to investigate HER2 protein expression in prostate biopsy specimens from 104 Chinese metastatic prostate cancer patients. After 3-11 months of hormonal therapy, 12 patients underwent transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). HER2 protein expression of TURP specimens was compared with that of the original biopsy specimens. Of these, 10 biopsy and 4 TURP specimens with HER2 IHC staining scores >or=2+ were investigated for HER2 gene amplification status by fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH).
RESULTSOf the 104 prostate biopsy specimens, HER2 protein expression was 0, 1+, 2+ and 3+ in 49 (47.1%), 45 (43.3%), 8 (7.7%) and 2 (1.9%) cases, respectively. There was a significant association between HER2 expression and Gleason score (P = 0.026). HER2 protein expression of prostate cancer tissues increased in 33.3% of patients after hormonal therapy. None of the 14 specimens with HER2 IHC scores >or= 2+ showed HER2 gene amplification. Patients with HER2 scores >or= 2+ had a significantly higher chance of dying from prostate cancer than those with HER2 scores of 0 (P = 0.004) and 1+ (P = 0.034). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that HER2 protein expression intensity was an independent predictor of cancer-related death (P = 0.039).
CONCLUSIONAn HER2 IHC score >or= 2+ should be defined as HER2 protein overexpression in prostate cancer. Overexpression of HER2 protein in cancer tissue might suggest an increased risk of dying from prostate cancer. HER2 protein expression increases in some individual patients after hormonal therapy.

Objective To establish a simple animal model of cough variant asthma(CVA)through sensitizing Brown-Norway(BN)rats with ovalbumin(OVA). Methods A total of 36 BN rats were randomly divided into three groups, including the normal control group, the model control group and the montelukast group. BN rats in the model group and the montelukast group were intraperitoneally administered with 2.0 mg of OVA and 100 mg of Al(OH)3,and the same volume of sterile saline was given to the normal group by intraperitoneal injection. Boosting was carried out by intraperitoneal administration with 0.01 mg of OVA and 100 mg of Al(OH)33 weeks later, and the rats in the normal group were injected with the same dose of physiological saline. Three weeks later, the actively sensitized BN rats were challenged with aerosolized OVA for 7 times on alternative days, and the rats in the normal group were treated with sterile saline instead of OVA. At the same time, the montelukast group was given 1.3 mg/kg of montelukast 30 minutes before atomization by intragastric administration once a day for 2 weeks, and the normal group and the model group were given the same volume of water. The tests of cough sensitivity to capsaicin and bronchial responsiveness were performed 24 h after the last administration. Results Compared with the normal group, the times of coughing(P< 0.01)and the lung resistance(RL)(P< 0.05)in the model group were significantly increased, while the lung compliance(Cdyn)was significantly decreased(P< 0.05). There was a significant difference(P < 0.05)in the times of coughing caused by capsaicin between the model group and the montelukast group. Compared with the model group,RLin the montelukast group was decreased significantly(P< 0.05), and Cdynwas increased significantly(P< 0.05). Conclusions This rat model of CVA is similar to a variety of clinical features of CVA and is easy to operate. Thus it can be used as an effective animal model of CVA.

Chinese Journal of Cardiology 2010;38(9):775-780
OBJECTIVEto observe the association between myocardial fibrosis, detected by delayed-enhancement (DE) cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and arrhythmia in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
METHODSforty-eight untreated HCM patients who underwent Cine MR, DE-MRI, 24 h ambulatory Holter electrocardiogram and ECG examinations were recruited. Extent of myocardial fibrosis (fibrosis mass/total LV mass) was assessed using DE imaging. Association between arrhythmias including premature ventricular complexes (PVCS ≥ 200), supra-ventricular tachycardia (SVT), non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT), atrio-ventricular block (AVB) and intra-ventricular block (IVB) detected by Holter monitoring and ECG with regard to delayed enhancement (DE) on contrast enhanced CMR was analyzed.
RESULTSmyocardial fibrosis was detected in 35 patients. Incidence of arrhythmia was significantly higher in patients with DE than in patients without DE (P < 0.05). Extent of myocardial fibrosis was significantly associated with the QRS duration (r = 0.33, P < 0.001).
CONCLUSIONmyocardial fibrosis detected by DE-CMR was associated with arrhythmia in patients with HCM. DE-CMR might be helpful to detect high-risk HCM patients prone to arrhythmia.
