Objective To study the relationship between urinary laminin(LN) and diabetic nephropathy. Methods Using the method for concentrating urinary laminin based on precipitation with PEG-4 000 and γ-globulin.The concentration of LN in the urine of 83 diabetics was measured by RIA.The concentration of micro-albumin and Ccr in the urine and the levels of plasma glucose and HbA1c were also measured. Results The choice of 150g/L of PEG-4 000 and 0.5 g/L of γ-globulin was the best method for concentrating urinary LN.The urinary LN in all groups was significantly higher than that in control group. Conclusion Urinary LN is an indicator in the diagnosis of the early diabetic nephropathy.

Objective To study some risk factors of acquired nosocomial pneumonia in tumor case nosocomial infection. Methods 77 tumor case with nosocomial infection were chosen as cases from the patients in hospital for 1:1 case control study. Results It was found that the fatality rate of acquired NP in tumor pattens was 14 3%.Some risk factors of acquired nosocomial infection in tumor case remained significant through logistic regression analysis showed, such as state of an immunosuppression therapy; operation, hospitalization duration, antibiotics application time and mechanical ventilation. Conclusions It was suggested that the iatrogenic pneumonia is comes from multiple risk factors and it should be paid attention. This is the most important step to control nosocomial infection of tumor case in the hospital happen.

Objective To report the clinical characteristics, biochemical profiles, diagnosis and treatment of one Chinese pedigree with glucocorticoid remediable aldosteronism. Methods Plasma and urine aldo~sterone and cortisol and plasma renin activity were dynamically tested and diagnostic therapy was undergone in 3 affected subjects. Results All of 4 affected members had hypertension, hypokalemia, 3 patients had low basic and provoked renin activity (0.017?0.015 vs 0.13?0.08)?g?L -1 ?h -1 . 3 patients were treated with 2 mg dexamethasone for 5~7 days, then the medication was reduced gradually and maintained at 0.5~0.75 mg per day after 1~1.5 month(s). 5 days after treatment, the plasma aldosterone concentrations (PACs) decreased significantly from (192?9)ng/L to (87?7)ng/L (P

Objective To establish a method of fingerprint analysis on Spica Prunellae by HPLC.Methods The HPLC method was used, chromatographic conditions were Betasil C18 column(250 mm ? 4.6 mm,5 ?m),acetonitrile-0.1% phosphric acid system as mobile phase,0-50 min acetonitrile 10%→25%,50-60 min acetonitrile 25%→32%;flow rate 0.7 mL/min;detective wavelength at 210 nm,column temperature 25 ℃.Results Establishing the fingerprint of Spica Prunellae,16 common peaks were found in the HPLC fingerprint of Spica Prunellae and good similarities with correlation coefficients over 0.95 were found in the fingerprints between the herbs from different sources and standard fingerprint, which could be utilized for the identification of Spica Prunellae. Conclusion The method is accuate, simple, and could be used for the quality control of Spica Prunellae.

Objective To assess the value of endoluminal convex array probe combined with high frequency linear array probe in diagnosis of internal carotid artery occlusion, and to improve the diagnostic accuracy rate of ultrasonography. Methods Patients suspected with ischemic cerebrovascular disease (n=490) were examined by carotid ultrasound. First, suspicious patients with carotid artery occlusion were selected using high-frequency linear array probe, then screen results were confirmed by endoluminal convex array probe and compared with previous results in those patients. Results Sixty eight patients, who were suspected of internal carotid artery occlusion, were screened out by high-frequency linear array probe. Results were re-examined by endoluminal convex array probe, 42 patients were diagnosed as internal carotid artery occlusion, 19 patients were diagnosed as severe stenosis as the internal carotid artery and 7 patients were diagnosed as ca?rotid artery tortuosity with no significant stenosis. Conclusion Endoluminal convex array probe is an effective complement for internal carotid arterial inspection when it combines with high-frequency linear probe. It can improve the diagnostic accu?racy rate of degree and the range in internal carotid artery occlusion and stenosis, therefore reduce chances of misdiagnosis.

Objective To explore effect of quercetin on growth of cervical cancer, and its relationship to expression heparanase, and to investigate the possible mechanism of the inhibition effect of quercetin on cervical cancer .Methods HeLa cells were injected into nude mouse to establish the model of cervical cancer.30 nude mice with palpable tumors were randomly assigned to five groups:25,50,100 mg/kg quercetin groups,PI-88 positive group and blank control group.Transmission electron microscope was used to observe the ultrastructural changes of the vascular endothelial cells in each group. The expression of heparanase protein was detected by Western blot.Used blank control group for grey reference, relative grey value of each group was calculated for the further statistical analysis. Results 50,100 mg/kg quercetin groups and group of PI -88 made the volume of tumor tissues smaller. In 50 mg/kg quercetin group, swelling of VEC and mitochondria in tumor tissues was observed. In 100 mg/kg quercetin group, the disappearance of membraneaceous structures was found. In PI-88 positive group, the atresia of lumen, vacuole-shaped smooth endoplasmic reticulum and a dead cell were observed.50 and 100 mg/kg quercetin groups decreased the heparanase protein levels significantly(P<0.05).Furthermore, PI-88 positive group could decrease the heparanase protein levels significantly(P<0.05), compared to 50 and 100 mg/kg quercetin groups. However, the difference between the 25 mg/kg quercetin group and blank control group showed no statistical significance. Conclusion The growth of cervical cancer could be inhibited by 50, 100 mg/kg quercetin.Meanwhile, the ultrastructural changes of tumor endothelial cells could be induced by 50,100 mg/kg quercetin. These changes may relate with the decrease of heparanase protein level .

Objective To investigate the relationship between the resting heart rate (RHR) and target organ damage (TOD) in elderly patients with metabolic syndrome(MS). Methods 264 elderly patients with MS were divided into four groups according to the level of RHR: RHR1 group, RHR<65 beats/minute (bpm) (46 cases) ;RHR2 group, 65≤RHR<75 bpm (77 cases);RHR3 group, 75 bpm≤RHR<85 bpm (89 cases);RHR4 group, RHR≥85 bpm (52 cases).Electrocardiography, echocardiography, carotid uhrasonography, crcatinine clearance rate (Ccr) and quantitative assay of 24 hours' albuminuria were performed. Results (1) Compared with RHR1, RHR2 and RHR3 groups, RHR4 group showed higher levels of carotid intima-medial thickness (IMT), carotid arterial diameter (CAD), left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and albuminuria(P< 0.05 or P<0.01), and lower levels of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and Ccr (all P< 0.01). (2) The IMT, CAD, LVMI and albuminuria were positively correlated with RHR (r=0.33, 0.23, 0.61, 0.58, respectively, all P<0.01). However, the LVEF and Ccr were negatively correlated with RHR (r=-0.59, -0.51, all P<0.01). (3) Logistic multivariate analysis showed that RHR and pulse pressure (PP) had effects on myocardial hypertrophy, coronary heart disease, heart failure, cerebral stroke and renal dysfunction(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Except heart failure, PP played a more important role than RHR. Coneinsions RHR may be an independent risk factors for TOD in elderly patients with MS,and RHR regulation is important for the development of MS in the elderly.
