With continued ozone deletion and increased ultraviolet application,ultraviolet (UV) induced eye injury receives more attention,especially for astronauts,residents on high elevation plateaus and other people exposed to intense beams of UV.Continuous exposure to UV can lead to damage of conjunctiva,cornea,crystalline lens and retina,which are correlated with conjunctivitis,keratitis,ocular tumor,climatic droplet keratopathy,and pterygium.This paper focuses on the effect of UV on eyes,with a systematic elaboration of UV-induced eye injury.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of dipeptide base peptidase 4 ( DPP-4 ) inhibitors alone or combined with metformin in curing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods 90 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in Tangshan Fengrun District Hospital and Tangshan Checheng Hospital were selected and randomly divided into therapy group ( DPP4 inhibitor ) , control group ( metformin ) and combination therapy group with 30 cases in each group.And treatment for three months, the free blood glucose (FPG), 2-hour postprandial blood glucose (2hPG), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels and other indicators were compare before and after treatment, and the rates of hypoglycaemia and adverse events during treatment were monitored and counted.Results After 3 months of treatment, the free blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, LDL-C and HbA1c levels were significantly decreased, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) while the combination therapy group compared with the the therapy group and control group with better results.The incidence of side-effect in the combination therapy group is significantly lower than the therapy group and control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).It is no cases of hypoglycemia occurs in the combination therapy group, and had a smaller effect on BMI.Conclusion DPP-4 inhibitors combined with metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes has better efficacy and safety.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of parallel scalp acupuncture therapy on hemodynamic function of cerebral circulation in post-stroke patients. Methods: Twenty post-stroke patients were taken as our objects. The cerebral circulation indices before and after parallel acupuncture therapy, were detected with KF-3000 Brain Circulation Analyze, to compare the change of hemodynamics indexes before and after parallel scalp acupuncture. Results: After the therapy, minimum and mean blood velocity of carotid artery (Vmin and Vmean) increased significantly (P<0.001); peripheral resistance (Rc) decreased significantly (P<0.001). And the other indices had no significant differences. Conclusion: Parallel Scalp Acupuncture can improve the state of cerebrovascular autoregulation, raise the velocity of blood, decrease the peripheral resistance, and increase the steady energy, total energy and the ratio of kinetic energy to total energy, decrease the ratio of oscillatory kinetic energy to total kinetic energy.

Objective:To investigate whether superantigen SEB,with the assistance of APCs,could induce apoptosis of thymocytes in vitro,and to study the mechanism involved.Methods:SEB was given to thymocytes which were cultured together with APCs.Apoptosis was detected by DNA electrophoresis and DNA fragmentation assay.Expressions of Fas and FasL were detected by flow cytometry.Results:The thymocytes treated with SEB had the characters of apoptosis,and the apoptotic rate and expressions of Fas and FasL was significantly increased compared with control.Conclusion:SEB,together with APCs,can induce apoptosis of thymocytes in vitro,high expressions of Fas and FasL on thymocyte may participate in the mediation of apoptosis.This may provide a method to study the negative selection of thymocytes.

Objective To study the anatomic relationship between the thoracic transverse process and adjacent bony structures and its clinical significance for thoracic screw fixation.Methods The present anatomic measurement used 45 dry cadaveric specimens of the normal adult thoracic vertebrae.We measured the distances from the horizontal midline of the transverse process to the superior,middle and inferior margius of the pedicle,the height of the anterolateral transverse process sheltered by ribs,and the position at the horizontal midline of the transverse process corresponding to the vertebral body.Results The horizontal midlines margius of the transverse processes of T1 to T10 are localized in the plane ranging from the superior to the inferior margins of the pedicle.The midlines of the transverse process are closer at T6 and T7 while more apart at T9 and T10.From T1 to T8,the anterolateral transverse process is totally or mostly sheltered by ribs,but the shelter is much less at T9 and T10.The horizontal midline of the transverse process corresponds to the upper 1/3 or middle 1/3 of the vertebral body.Conclusion Thoracic screw fixation across the transverse process to the vertebral body is safe,reliable and feasible in clinic.

To study the abnormality of the plasma concentration of ATRA in T1DM patients.T1DM patients(n=26),T2DM patients(n=33) and healthy people(n=30) were enrolled.The plasma concentration of ATRA was determined by HPLC.Compared with T2DM patients and healthy people,the concentration of ATRA increased significantly in T1DM patients.

Objective To discuss the effect of comprehensive intervention on the quality of life of esophageal cancer patients receiving radiotherapy.Methods 100 patients with esophageal carcinoma treated with radiotherapy for the first timewere selected between October 2012 and December 2014 in Nantong Tumor Hospital in Jiangsu Province and randomly divided into control group and observation group (n =50 in each group) with a random number table.In the control group,routine dietary instruction,fluid infusion support and symptomatic intervention were used;comprehensive intervention was added in the observation group.Scores of core quality of life questionnaire (QLQ-C30) and nutritional indexesbefore and after radiotherapy in the two groups were compared.Results There were no statistically significant differences in QLQ-C30 scores and nutritional indexes between the two groups before radiotherapy (all P＞0.05).After radiotherapy,the physical [(75.6 ±13.1) vs.(63.8 ± 12.4)] and emotional function [(61.9 ± 14.3) vs.(52.5 ± 13.7)],fatigue [(36.6 ± 13.2) vs.(45.8±15.0)],pain [(34.8±16.1) vs.(44.3±17.0)],insomnia [(49.2±15.7) vs.(57.2±14.3)],loss of appetite [(50.2 ± 16.2) vs.(59.0 ± 15.8)],nausea and vomiting [(21.5 ± 10.3) vs.(29.9 ±11.3)],general health status [(68.8 ± 13.4) vs.(58.2 ± 12.8)] inthe observation group were significantly better than in the control group (all P ＜0.05).Innutritional status,body weight [(59.3 ± 8.5) kg vs.(54.4 ± 7.3) kg],body mass index [(21.9 ±2.1) kg/m2 vs.(18.4 ±2.8) kg/m2],hemoglobin [(125.9 ± 8.9) g/Lvs.(107.3±9.5) g/L],albumin [(35.1±6.9) g/Lvs.(29.0±5.3) g/L],and prealbumin [(213.54 ±37.47) mg/L vs.(174.56 ±36.26) mg/L] in the observation group were all higher than thosein the control group after radiotherapy (all P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion Comprehensive intervention for esophageal cancer patients receiving radiotherapymay improve nutritional status,reduce esophagitis,thirsty,fatigue,loss of appetite and other symptoms,improve the quality of life,ensure the completion of radiotherapy.
